I recently hosted a lunch for a large party 70 people. The staff at JJ Bittings could not have been more attentive and courteous from the Manager to the Wait staff! The building was ascetically pleasing with its brick façade and brewing stills located in the center of the main dining room. We had a selection of four entrees with no complaints it was a typical pub menu ~ fish an chips, 1/2 lb burger, chicken fingers or grilled chicken sandwich. The beer sampler was a huge hit everyone comparing which one they liked, 7 to choose from brewed right on the premises. The boys loved the train that chugged around the ceiling and the real train that whizzed past the building crossing over the trestle just outside our window. With that said I felt the need to write this review in response to some of the others I have read. It is amazing to me that some people have nothing better to do with their time but to complain about frivolous, unimportant things! I truly believe that if you like something for dislike something you have the right to voice your opinion BUT people at least make it a legitimate complaint.... JJ Bittings Thank You again for a GREAT afternoon I / we will definitely recommend your establishment without hesitation and we will return for more enjoyable food and beverage...

My husband and I have been going to JJ Bittings together for over 7 years, and the last 5 years with our children. We love beer and this place always has some great ones. The seasonal rye is probably my favorite and you typically cant go wrong with the IPA or stout. The food... standard pub fare kicked up a notch. The owner used to run and Italian joint and it shows. The burgers are some of the best around (Liberty Tavern in Fords edges ahead slightly), the ribs are amazing, the butterfly fries are a massive web of deliciousness (ask for cheese and jalapeños on the side)... And the kids menu is a good bargain. Honestly, Ive never had anything bad there and they have some great specials. The bar staff has some gems, i.e. Deanna, Cassie, Adrienne, Linda. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because the brewers have changed so many times over the years that the beer is not always consistent. So an IPA or Amber that was perfect a year ago may suck today. But they finally stole the brew master from Triumph in Princeton and he seems to take things very seriously... so we shall have to taste and see. Twist my arm!!!!

This is a significant reason for us choosing to move to Woodbridge in the first place. Always some beers on the list that are a hit (sometimes there are misses too, but you can always try before you buy). Can take some effort to get served at the bar some evenings. Excellent happy hours with food provided. Theres a train that runs around the entire place every 15 mins that small people love, and they can go and pull a train whistle too. Staff are very tolerant of errant children on the whole too. Food on the whole very good, the Colorado Burger is always a solid fallback and the kids macncheese is very popular with us, all kids menu choices come with tasty waffle fries in a cardboard train.

Was just in on Saturday night. Really cool looking place with a loft. They also have a deck which I went up to look at even though it was way too hot to sit outside since it was about 100 degrees out. I had a burger with sweet potato fries which were very good and different. My boyfriend had the ribs which were a huge portion and only finished about half of it and took the rest home. I had the hefe-wisen beer which was delicious and my boyfriend had the amber which was also very good. Service was good and quick. My only complaint was the music which is a little dull but besides that it was a great experience and I will be back in the very near future!

I wanted to like this place since Im a fan of microbreweries and brewpubs. The beer was pretty good (hit and miss, depending on which beer you got), and the food was what I expected from a pub. But the service was awful, truly awful. In a room that had (literally) five other diners, we waited for service, we waited for drinks, we waited for refills, we waited for our check. I dont mind waiting, but this was a bit absurd (especially since I saw our waitress chatting with bar customers across the room, ostensibly oblivious to our needs). If youve got plenty of time, go here. Otherwise, find someplace else for dinner.

We tried the Harvest Ale and the Raspberry which were both great. Took a jug of Pumpkin Ale home and it was very good as well, though it could use a little more pumpkin and spices. Food was ok at best. Good for bar food but far from being anything worthy of being called more than that. The JJ fries were disappointing...cut too thin and the jalapenos were dry and stale. Overall Id recommend JJ Bitting, especially if you like craft brews. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. The table area is a lot more quiet and more family friendly.

Went into an empty restaurant on the fourth of july, the drinks we were served were flat, and some of our food was overcooked. The worst was when we paid the bill that came to 96$ i put in 105$, 1.5 the sales tax which i felt was fair given the service. Another women came back to the table with the check asking if the amount was correct, then asked if it was what we were meant to give her with tip, needless to say we wont ever be back there if the staff feel the need to try and hustle their customers for tips that simply werent deserved

My family and I have come here a few times and have enjoyed ourselves in the past..... but we just left tonight truly disappointed... if eating at this restaurant please take notice of the 1/2" thick layer of dust laying on top of the spiral duct work which hangs above the dining tables... this building is a old historic building and when anyone would walk by our table the vibration would cause a showeshower dust to rain down upon us.. our drinks... and our food..hopefully they will address this issue In the very near future

The food definitely has a southern feel to it, which is appropriate given the more "country" feel that this part of Woodbridge has compared to other towns in Central Jersey. The beer is good, but they only sell their own beer, so dont try to order a Corona. The bar is typically packed, especially on Tuesdays, but the restaurant only gets packed on weekends. The staff, especially in the restaurant portion, isnt the greatest. It has the feel of a home-town place, just missing the warm proprietors glad-handing the clientele.

Nice place. Nice bar area. I went with two beers. the raspberry and the ale. I thought both were OK. Not great. My friend got the stout. She said it was too carbonated. But overall these beers are better than the average beer and $5.00 a beer is a great price. I had the ribs. Two thumbs up. It was the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen. I brought home half of it. Very meaty as well,,,very little fat. I also had the chilli. loved it as well. Overall. Good place for beer and great place for food.
