There is just no excuse for what happened. Purchased tickets a month ago (thru Fandango) for a special event - American Saturday Night Live from the Grand Ole Opry as a Christmas gift for me and my friend. When I visited about 2 weeks earlier the tickets were printed out and given to me with the ones for the movie I was seeing that day. Brought tickets to theater 30 minutes before start time. Tickets were taken by Carmike employee and we were told movie was in Auditorium 9 as indicated on the tickets. We waited for them to clean the theater and then told we could go in. I verified that we were going into the correct Auditorium because the scrolling marquee said Spotlight. The employee said it was the right one and that the marquee just had not been updated. Waited 45 minutes after the 7:30 start time. Began to wonder why the previews were so long. Then sure enough Spotlight started to play. Went out to employee and she said I tried to tell you that it was in a different auditorium. I would like to know when she tried to tell me because I checked with her 2 times and she said we were in the correct theater. She said well you can get a refund. However, this is a SPECIAL EVENT. We missed it, its gone. The manger was no more sympathetic. He said these things happen and there are new people working. Guess he is doing a great drop training them. He gave us a refund and 2 passes but its not like we can come back and see another showing. This only played a few times and that was the last one. And not one apology.....

Went to this theater only because it had the movie I wanted at the time I needed. I was bypassed by three people in line because I dont hold a "prime stubs"card, and person after person was allowed in front of me in line, even those who had just walked in the door. Then I was notified because I dont have an amc membership, the matinee is $8.75, even for children! But if I had the club card, it would be $5. The price is outrageous considering the theaters are small, and the seats are horrible and uncomfortable. The seat I sat on had the fabric split, and the seat next to me had a giant clump of melted chocolate candy stuck to it. We had to move seats just to find some that werent stained or ripped. The ticket sales lady was rude, and the staff is slow and uncaring. If you want a good movie experience, skip this place and visit Cinemark 16 in Sommerdale. They have $5 five dollar movies on Tuesday (for everyone!), Spacious theaters, and reclining brand new leather seats. This AMC will be a huge waste of your time and money.

I have spent over $300 here in the past month and have been grossly disappointed each time...if it werent for the special events that they seem to be the only one to host, I definitely would have moved my patronage to another theater. Each visit has boiled down to poor management. They are understaffed regularly, and very rarely knowledgeable about their own programs. For example, as a Premiere Stubs Member I have never had two experiences that were alike in any way. For example, when asking who the manager was, I was met with the answer "We have a bunch."... Totally inappropriate and indicative of poor management. Only when pressed did I get some names along with a complimentary eye roll. Needless to say Ill be asking for Jill or Tom before I leave. I probably will travel extra distance to avoid returning. They need to step it up. Period.

No longer the "Carmike 16" ... they were bought by AMC, which I am sure it will be a step in the right direction, any AMC theater Ive been to had always been nice but a little pricey. Went today, $5 Wednesday (or so it was) with my family to see a movie ... ended up paying close to $9 each ticket, then went to grab popcorn/drinks and the credit card machines were down and I rarely carry cash - so I guess I spent the same I would have in the long run. The movie had a start time of 1:40p but the previews didnt end until close to 2:05-2:10p, the chairs were pretty worn out yet still somewhat comfortable and the staff seemed a little bummed about the change over but overall they were all still friendly and helpful. Id reccomend this theater if your in the area, otherwise Id say go to a theater that is a little more updated.

My favorite theater, in spite of whatever seating problems there may be -- which, by the way, I have never experienced. In fact, one of the things I love about it is the roominess of the theater seating, as well as the comfy couches and cafe area in the lobby, and the marqee that lets you know when your theater number is ready for seating! Also love all the vintage movie posters! I wish all theaters were like this one. The only reason I cant give them 5 stars is because no matter how many times I say "extra, "extra," they still never put enough butter on my popcorn.

I don’t know what theater an earlier poster said that the seats were damp and smelled like urine. This is a very well run theater with a great staff and hands on management. When there is a problem, they will try to fix it right away. Now the bad, the popcorn should be switch out for a better brand, and they should air a disclaimer to dissuade patrons from putting their feet on the seats, this is an annoying, unsanitary practice that destroys the seating. Encounters with broken arm rests and wobbling backs are common.

I dont think I will be going to this movie theater anymore. Went there for years with no problems but since AMC took over the popcorn has been terrible and the butter is not the same as the previous owners. The popcorn is cold and the butter has a weird taste to it. The past 2 weeks 3 of us have actually gotten sick within a hour of eating the popcorn. It needs to be revamped. We will be going to a different movies from now on. It is a shame because it use to be a very nice theater but has gone down hill.

Best movie place I ever been so much I hate telling people about going here. Love the atmosphere here and the staff are always nice and considerate. Everybody in the movie theaters earned a free movie for their next trip their last week when there was a power outage during a storm 2 weeks ago. They have really amazing deals especially when you sign up for their rewards program. If i could give this place more stars I would. Keep it up.
