I was highly disappointed by my experience in this theater this evening 7/1/2017. I am a loyal theater goer and premium stubs card account holder. I visit this theater on a regular basis and have never had a bad experience. However, this evening I had gone out with my girlfriend before our movie to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and we boxed up some leftovers we couldnt finish. Once at the AMC Newport theater and after buying a soda for over $6 the ticket taker refused to let us enter stating I was bringing in outside food and drink.. I asked to speak with the manager and I introduced to Deondre he told me he was one of the 4 managers for the theater. Deondre was incredibly rude and not professional. I explained that as we had just finished dinner we had no intention of trying to eat the food but would like to bring it home later. Deondre continued to be unprofessional and told me he didnt care if I was planning on eating the food or not. I tried to work with Deondre to see if he would be willing to hold my leftovers and he refused to be a person and at least offer to do that. I called AMC corporate to try and sort out the issue. Deondre refused to provide me his employee identification number as he knew he was being unreasonable and was trying at all costs avoid any responsibility for his lack of willingness to compromise and overall unprofessional and rude behaviors . Needless to say this turned what should have been a nice dinner and a movie evening into a terrible evening being denied access to a show we were excited to go see. I was not provided and refund or movie credits Deondre said if i bought the tickets through fandango I would have to get a refund through them. He also did not give me my money back on the over $6 soda I had bought specifically for the movie and was not able to help me make sure I was credited my stub card rewards points I had used towards the cost of the tickets. Deondre was rude not helpful, it was clear he could not care less about the customer or their satisfaction and truly destroyed the moviegoing experience that I have grown to love at AMC. I have called AMC corporate and am awaiting reply on how they can help rectify this issue. It would make me sad but I would gladly drive further away to a non AMC theater that treated you like human beings rather than have employees like Deondre who could not care less about customer satisfaction and treated both my girlfriend and I with nothing bud disrespect. Hopefully I will be able to update this review after being contacted by AMC.

***UPDATE December 2015 the place has been largely overhauled. Sound, seats, reserved seating, leather recliners, better traffic flow, more self-service ticket printers, better flow around concessions area...overall a much much much more current and user-friendly cinema experience. Saw Star Wars here twice opening weekend in reserved seats I bought at home and used the Q reader on my phone at the ticket taker stand, bypassing the box office entirely. With the exception of temp control in the auditoriums, which I am willing to overlook because this December its been 30 degrees on a Monday and 65 on a Tuesday, it is probably going to be my go-to movie theater from now on. OLD REVIEW SPRING 2015 Absolutely unremarkable, standard, completely beige cinema inside an equally beige, unremarkable, standard shopping mall. Been coming here for fifteen years on and off and I have never had rude service, seen a mouse or rat or smelled anything bad, as opposed to some of these other reviewers who seem to have had horrendous experiences the SINGLE time they DEIGNED to visit this place. I find it hard to believe there are rats and mice scurrying around since it is flat-up against the food court in the mall and there are never rodent sightings in the food court. That having been said, it is a run-of-the-mill, utterly ordinary multiplex currently operated by AMC that shows the same tired mainstream studio movies as every other mall multiplex in the US, with the tedium broken by the occasional Hindi/Bollywood film. The bathrooms are clean if you go at noon on a Tuesday and probably not so clean at 10 PM on a Saturday night. The screens are not gigantic, but then again, this is a multiplex inside a mall--I dont know what you could possibly expect. The seats are standard movie theater seats. The concessions sell what they sell. The staff is exactly who you would expect it to be--younger people, older semiretired people, and none of them are polite OR rude--they are probably secretly wishing death on all of us as they work their crappy job for $8 an hour and I dont expect anything more or less from them than a bag of popcorn and a floor that isnt too sticky. I think we all need to get hold of ourselves when writing reviews of chain movie theaters and manage our expectations accordingly.

Even after ignoring ...bad smell, uncomfortable seats , cleanliness issues , I still went to this movie hall as it shows Hindi movies . But after todays experience, I will never go to this movie hall as ever again . Here are the things happened with me today : (1) I was trying to reach them over the phone , some one picks up the phone and immediately puts you on hold ,you would be on hold for more than 15 min and no one comes back , this cycle happened with me for 3 times .as i tried to reach them 3 times (2) after that when i personally went to buy the tickets ,I told them this thing the window staff was rude with me and told me they are busy and :"Thats how it will happen here" (3) The worst was still not over as when i finally met with the manager (Markeese) and told him , that his management is really bad , he told me that he wont allow me to enter the theater , as my friends were already in inside the theater and waiting for me , I explained him that , but still he told me that as i told him on his face that , he is not a good manager and he cant allow me inside . (4) Markeese , even told some racist things about to me and my friends when we were taking over refund back from him , my friends needs to come out for the movie hall and ruined our day . I would recommend no lndian should ever go to this movie hall till this racist and stupid manager (markeese) is working here .

I had the extreme dissatisfaction to use this theater (after a renovation, I assume) to see The Witch. The employees were generally slow and unresponsive. I was also surprised to see assigned seats: I chose seat A1 and went into the theater. There was a man in my seat who also put his stuff on the seat beside him; I saw people sitting wherever they wanted so I did as well. Two women came and rudely pushed me out and told me to tell the man off; I went over to do so and he was exceptionally rude and told me to get lost. I wandered the theater from seat to seat until finally when the lights went down I got one of the wheelchair seats. Several people showed up late and actually KICKED PEOPLE OUT of their seats. One man showed up 30 minutes into the film and told a couple to move (I assume he bought two tickets). The couple, as well as at least 5 or 6 others, left the theater without a refund. The couple I heard say they will never go back to the theater again. There were people STANDING IN THE AISLE or SITTING ON THE FLOOR watching the movie. AMC: if your goal was to steal money from patrons, you succeeded. If your goal was cut in half the number of seats per movie showing, you succeeded (my seat didnt even work). And if your goal was to lose large amounts of business, you have succeeded. I wish you absolutely no luck whatsoever.
