I cant say enough wonderful things about the staff, venue, and food at Californos - it is such a special place to my family. We had our wedding and reception at Californos and it was everything I wanted. Planning a wedding is so stressful but everyone there made it as simple and fun as possible. They answered all of my questions and kept this anxious bride sane. Plus it is incredibly affordable! I liked the inclusive pricing options as well as the selection of dishes available. The hardest part was narrowing down what we wanted served because everything was so good. On the day of the wedding it was simply perfect. We still have family and friends talking about our wedding, reception, and especially the food. We found the wedding fair they hosted very helpful as well. Our wedding cake was from Californos and my mouth waters just thinking about it. Since our special day Ive ordered catering for a business event and my aunt hosted a wedding brunch on the patio. I ordered cupcakes for 2 showers in addition to our baby reveal cake. There are always tons of compliments about the food and dessert. We also love just stopping in for dinner or brunch. I highly recommend using Californos for your next event!

Californos, was a perfect venue for our daughters wedding reception. Our initial concern regarding multiple levels and rooms, turned out to be a huge plus: different areas for our many guests to gather. Married on September 6, 2014 at the same time as the Westport Art Fair, Californos managed valet parking and guests’ arrival smoothly. As the evening unfolded, the food was as exceptional as it had been at our tasting and the wedding cake supplied by Californos was delicious. As promised at the appropriate time staff quietly turned the dining areas into dancing and kept the party flowing. During the planning stage Aaron Barksdale-Burns presented several packages with various options. He answered multiple questions patiently and promptly making the planning for the reception easy; it was clear we had made the right choice to use Californos. Under the highly competent direction of Aaron and his well-trained staff, Californos is a winner.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here in October, 2015 and it was absolutely wonderful! One of the reasons why we picked Californos was the location: you cannot beat having hotels within walking distance, AND multiple restaurants and activities for out of town guests within walking distance. Additionally, we loved having the option of the price per person option including food AND an open bar, which (we felt) was very reasonably priced. The staff was extremely helpful and answered my countless questions from day 1, and were always willing to meet for tastings around our schedule. The day of the wedding, they allowed our decorator to come in early and set everything up, the food was amazing, and I STILL have guests telling me that our reception has been their favorite. I will definitely recommend Californos to everyone looking for a reception venue!

Californos was a SPECTACULAR venue for our wedding reception last October. It was the first place we looked at as a possible venue, and were immediately in love! We reserved Californos well over a year in advance of our wedding, and Aaron and Mig were so supportive during every stage of the planning process. The physical space that Californos has to offer is absolutely gorgeous, and our guests continue to tell us how wonderful the food was. We loved that it was located in the middle of Westport and that there was so much going on around our reception, which made it a really cool choice for so many of our out of town guests to see that side of KC. Californos made our wedding day magical...there is nothing we would change about our experience!

I could write a novel on why I would recommend Californos as a venue, especially for wedding receptions. Aaron and Mig are the kindest, most helpful, patient and accommodating staff. They always answered my obscene amount of questions with a smile and made sure our planning process and wedding reception were flawless. The packages that Californos offers are very helpful. The bar, food, staff, set-up, and take down were all included in the price. There are also a variety of add-ons including cake, which is just as fantastic as the food. I would highly recommend Californos to anyone looking for a venue with mouthwatering food, a unique environment, and the dream team staff.

Hands down the best hidden secret in Kansas city to have your wedding. My fiance and I got married a week ago and combined we received over 100 text messages from guest stating.. 1. How beautiful the Venue was 2. Out of town guest loved that we had the Ceremony and Reception at one location. 3. Quoted "This wedding will go down in the books for the best wedding we have ever been to. The food was amazing. We could go on and on, but we hardly ever highly recommend stuff to people unless we LOVE it. Californos was beyond what we could have imagined. Love that this is a family owned venue!! So much TLC was put into our celebration. THANK YOU CALIFORNOS!!!!!

I have been going to Californos for years for not only great food but concerts, events and even occasionally singing in their opera supper. The location is perfect and central to many activities such a bar crawls or attending a movie in Westport. The staff is always very kind and welcoming, makes wonderful drinks for us and the service top notch. Ive also partnered with Aaron and held several events there including Bastille Day celebrations with the local Alliance Francaise over the years. Their space is unique, boasting everything from glamorous event rooms to the quaint outdoor patio and bar seating with the perfect ambiance and drink offerings.

Service is excellent, bartenders have good personalities. Ive eaten here twice and both experiences have been good. The menu offers a decent amount of variety. If I hadnt already had breakfast I probably wouldve opted for a brunch option but they still allowed me to order off the regular lunch menu and a Sunday at 2 pm. There definitely seems to be more to this restaurant then my small view from the bar.. seems to have live music and a great patio and went scene. Its a good spot to check out, I will be back at some point. Below is the salmon BLT with tomato soup and a good variety of fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, apple)

On top of a delicious menu, there was never a nicer owner and staff at Californos. My aunt and brother both had their wedding receptions there several years ago and we decided to have an event there last month. Aaron worked with us in our price range and, quite frankly, was so much more than I anticipated. The food was once again delicious and the service was terrific. Our guests enjoyed their visit. I have learned that whether you have 40 people or 400, Californos consistently delivers a special experience.

I used Californos for my wedding reception. I was drawn to them because they are space rental, food and alcohol all in one. Plus their costs already include sales tax, service charges and tip. They are so easy to work with and we couldnt have been more pleased with our food and our reception. They had everything set up as planned and i had so many compliments about their beautiful rustic yet classic space. I cant say enough about what a great value they are! But book early! They fill up quickly..
