I am a business traveler who has been visiting the Boston/Cambridge area on business for about 6 years now. Ive stayed in the Marlowe a few times before while in town and even once for a seminar. I stayed for 2 nights on the 24th and 25th and my last stay was very disappointing to say the least. After a long trip I wanted to get into the hotel room, order some room service and finish up some work. I went to use the bathroom and when opening the toilet I found a surprise. The toilet was clogged and full. So besides being grossed out, I was unable to use the toilet. I called the front desk and instead of suggesting I change rooms they offered to send someone to unclog the toilet. Which was fine, and I sat down to do some work. After about 15 min I ordered some room service expecting the person to be there any minute to fix the bathroom. Unfortunately after 30 min my room service arrived (they forgot my drink order) and still no one to fix the bathroom. I called again and they apologized and sent someone right up. So, while eating at my desk I had to watch someone clear the toilet. Then it occurred to me, if the toilet was full, the bathroom was probably not cleaned. I mean, there was no way anyone can open the toilet and not see this monstrosity. The attendee agreed and sent someone to clean it. Problem solved and inconvenient but not a deal breaker. I went to use the form to fill out for breakfast which you leave hanging on the door. It was already filled out by someone else and put back in the room. This also was concerning because then I was wondering if the room was cleaned at all. Regardless, I am not one to complain much so I finished my work, called for breakfast to be delivered in the morning and went to bed. Going to bed I tried to close the curtains since I was positioned in a room overlooking the courtyard where you enter the hotel. I felt like I was in Vegas on the strip with all the lights. How can a hotel only have the sheer curtains and not provide drapes to pull over the window??? It was pretty much daylight in my room. Unable to sleep, I finally approached the desk at about 1am and asked them to offer a different room, which they thankfully did. Still intent on not complaining I went to use the form to order breakfast in the new room (the one you hang on the door) and wouldnt you know....it was also already filled out. Is it possible this room wasnt serviced either? Next day I called for my rental car 15 min before I needed to leave as suggested on the valet ticket. Spoke to a woman at the front desk and she said no problem it will be waiting for you. I got downstairs and no car. I asked the concierge and valet and no one had informed them I called for my car. This ended up taking n extra 15 min. Now normally I wouldnt mind too much, but I had to go all the way out to Marlborough and it is not a short trip. This ended up putting me in jeopardy of missing my meeting and I was racing to get there in poor weather. Not the way I wanted to start the day. Ive stayed in hotels everywhere around the world and am fortunate enough to have stayed in some of the best. I was not expecting greatness here.. just something clean and convenient. Simply put...there are plenty of other hotels in Cambridge and the Back Bay which are much much better. I just stayed at the Fairmont Copley and it was great. Same for the Taj, The Hotel at MIT, the Marriott Kendle Square...even the Hyatt in Cambridge was better.. Dont be fooled by the low fare...if your travel company wants to book you here just say no. There are plenty of other options.

me and my mom stayed here on a fun one-night starvation kinda thing. first off EVERYONE WAS SO SO SO INCREDIBLY NICE. i know this is kinda weird, but the elevator was super super fast and always arrived super early, and was often already there. Our room was adorable. We had written in our online reservation that we were going to have a movie night and they provided us with free nuts, two free ali drift sodas, and free candy, and wrote a long personalized letter to us. the room was large and spacious for a city standard king room, and the view over the charles was incredible. the bathroom was clean and provided us with everything. the bed was very comfy. it was a tiny bit corporate, but super boutique-y and cute. i cant get over the view! We watched two movies in a row, but when we finished them both, the people next door were having the loudest dance party ever. we couldnt sleep. we called the front desk and they responded very kindly and promptly arrived and told the people to turn their music down. as soon as the front desk person went back downstairs, the people next door turned the music back up really loud! we called again, and they were so nice and asked the people to be quiet. they finally turned off the music and we could sleep! also the curtains were super blackout which was nice bc i can only sleep in complete darkness. when we woke up we went downstairs and were greeted with a kind good morning. they immediately apologized sincerely about the noises and did not charge us the 20 bucks of one of the movies!!!! also, the restaurant downstairs was good! very good! not amazing but i would go again!!!!! I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY INVEST IN STAYING AT THIS HOTEL! AND NEXT TIME WE WILL BRING OUR DOG (super dog friendly, free dog beds, treats everywhere, all dog families go on seventh floor, dog-sitting behind front desk!!! they all genuinely love the dogs!) love this place!

The Kimpton Marlowe in Cambridge is just simply spectacular. I work in Cambridge and some evenings when the weather is bad or I dont want to wait in traffic for hours, I will rest my head here. Each time Ive visited (about 4 now) I am greeted with open arms by the front desk. Everyone that Ive met at the front desk always has a smile on their face and are ready to take care of you. During my last stay I was given a voucher for their nightly wine happy hour, since I missed it, with my later arrival. I was able to use the voucher in the attached restaurant Bambara. Once I arrived after a long day of work and bad day in general (I had fallen on the sidewalk and scraped my knee earlier in the day) I was again, greeted and treated like a VIP. Patrick was behind the bar, and he made me feel special the second I sat down to grab a glass of wine and relax. Patrick was great at making everyone at the bar feel like they were the only one there and yet, had my glass of wine refilled each time before it became empty. Wonderful prompt service and he knows how to make a guest feel special. I ordered a side of their (DELICIOUS) thicker cut french fries and Patrick even took care of that order for me. After my prompt wine service, comped (and delicious) french fries....Mario (the Chef) came out to give me samples of both the chocolate homemade ice cream and mango sorbet. They make it in house at the restaurant and you can tell...its just divine. The rooms at the Kimpton Marlowe are always perfect, clean and have gorgeous views of Cambridge. I would (and do) recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Cambridge or Boston area- as the service is second to none. Thank you! :)
