I see a lot of negative reviews for this theater, but in the half dozen times weve been there since moving to Louisville I havent seen a single issue or had a bad experience. Our visits have been at different times of day, both matinee, evening, and late night, and the lobby has always been clean. The ticket/concession area has always seemed well staffed, and weve never waited more than 5 minutes to get to the counter. As to the theater experience, there havent been any real issues other than people and electronic devices and chatterboxes who seem to think that conversing about the movie with the person next to you isnt rude. IT IS. The chairs in the regular theaters are fairly comfortable, and I like the large drink holders. In the Directors Cut area the seats are a bit more roomy and comfortable. The only downside I see is that the ticket and concession area are one and the same. I dont think this is the best arrangement. If Im purchasing a movie ticket and I dont necessarily know what I want for concessions, Im going to stand there longer as I try to figure out what I want...and if there is more than one person in the party they have to decide also. This can lead to longer times at the counter. If they were separate areas you could manage your ticket and concession experience much better. Carmikes has pretty good loyalty program, and you get escalating levels of concessions and movie tickets the more you spend. What a lot of people dont know is that the Carmikes loyalty card also saves you $1 on EVERY concession item you purchase, as well as adding to your running point total. Buy 5 concession items, get $5 off. Not a bad deal. Like I opened with, I havent experienced any of the problems that a lot of reviewers mentioned. I am not, however, a fan of the combined ticketing/concession area. Nice theater, love the loyalty program, and love the Directors Cut hall theaters. Ive been a fan of Carmikes theaters for years...to quote a movie, "Ill be back".

A series of events turned a fun night out with friends into a unhappy, I am still angry about it evening! We went for a double feature to the Stoneybrook location on S Hurstbourne, no problems at all for the first... the second however was when the evening took its turn. To keep this short, it was the late night showing of The Expendables... there were no previews and the audience became restless and very vocal about it, when the movie finally started the was no sound for the first few minute and once the sound was restored they left the lights on in the theater for approximately 10-15min. until a man from a few rows in front of us stormed out to find someone. --- ALL OF THIS DID NOT BOTHER ME AS MUCH AS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT --- =C Leaving the theater shortly after midnight walking to our cars and ALL the lights in the parking lot shut off leaving us in a very dark lot and still a distance away from our cars...I being a female was extremely disturbed by this am still am, luckily I was not alone! I have tried several different ways to contact the theater but have found no way to voice my concerns... you would think they want to keep their patrons happy and safe but I have yet to find an email address that works for the business.

I went to see the 7:30p showing of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (06/02). It would get at least 4 stars except the fact that there was a very rude older, brunette, caucasian woman literally yelling at all of the IMAX customers. It was awkward. I wasnt there for an IMAX movie, but when we went to get in line we decided to find out what all of the crazy yelling was about (we assumed it was IMAX and that we didnt need to be in says line, but we couldnt hear her from the very end). Instead of answering our simple question, "what is this line for", she chose to yell at us saying to wait until she got to the end of the line. Despite the fact that she had literally just been yelling an unintelligible statement to the line of people I was in, she couldnt take a second to repeat it at a reasonable level to a customer. She just talked to everyone there like they were disobedient dogs belonging to an unloving owner. It was gross. I am ashamed for that woman because she obviously is too ignorant to be. Seats very comfortable, front desk/concessions extremely amiable. Ticket lady, the devil. Serious coaching and a whole lot of prayer for that one.

We come here often and its not a bad place to see a movie, but the bathrooms are pretty dirty most of the time. Parking completely sucks here because there is the largest amount of parking area up front reserved for handicapped spots--to which I am NOT opposed, but from my observations it just seems disproportionate to other businesses. Im also offended by the NO MOTORCYCLES signs all over the place as youre walking in. I feel that if youre going to have a motorcycle-restricted area, the least you could do is have another area reserved specifically for motorcycles. It sucks to take up a full-size car space in places where parking is not optimal anyway. I have noticed that several times weve shown up at peak time (Friday/Saturday nights) and they have a line of 20-30 people waiting to get tickets and buy refreshments. I see some spots open, but no cashier working it. The only other issue I have with Carmike, is the self-serve sodas and popcorn butter. I really like this idea, but if you dont keep them running and filled up, its not helping anybody.

Formerly a Lowes theater, sold to National Amusements, sold to Rave Motion Pictures. It has been remodeled a few times, with the last being when National Amusement tried to upgrade it from their Showcase Cinema brand to their Cinema DeLux. I was always disappointed in this remodel because it did not look as nice as one of their nearby theaters that was built as designed as a Cinema DeLux from the beginning. Overall, an okay run-of-the-mill theater. My only complaint is that the height of the seat backs are too short. Id prefer either a short seat or a tall seat. The seats here are in between... making me feel like I can rest my head. When I do try to rest my head, it is beyond the cushion and it cracks against the plastic trim. Ouch! Of course, this is an opinion... for some, the height is probably just right. I agree with others about the IMAX screen at this location. It is only slighly larger than the other screens here. IMO, that is not a true IMAX experience... not worth paying extra for.

Went for a 945 showing of Dunkirk. This theater has, by far, the most woefully incompetent staff I have ever seen at any place of business save a McDonalds in Virginia that still had their breakfast menu up at 3pm and whose cashier presented me with the option of getting my barbecue sauce off the back of their truck outside. There were four employees in the ticket/concessions area, only one whom had the decency to actually ring people up. I waited in line for 30 minutes with less than a dozen people in front of me, watching as the rest of the employees did their best to avoid eye contact with the disgruntled patrons and the one poor boy with the unfortunate task of ringing everyone up. Were I a God fearing man I would be convinced that this particular theater was nestled firmly in the eighth circle of hell as I can imagine no greater collection of deceitful falsifiers as the "people" wearing costumes of employees at Stoneybrook. The movie kicked ass though and the sound was killer.
