I highly recommend NOT wasting your time or money on Woodfire Grill in the Diamond Jo Casino. My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary. I made note of it when calling in that it was our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess did not even acknowledge the reservation or that it was a special occasion. Would not that be something you would ask? I have been asked that at lesser expensive restaurants. Something like "First time dining with us?" "Are we celebrating anything?" Nothing. My husband and I are on a tight budget as is everyone else in America right now. So we went on line beforehand and looked at the menu and got an idea of what we were going to order. We decided on the 28oz Ribeye which is a speciality of theirs. We decided we would split it and each order our own sides. Since everything is ala carte. We were informed by our server that they will not split the steak and we would be charge an additional $6 for sharing. So we not only would be charged $6 more, we would have to hack away at it at the table ourselves. So we looked over the menu and each ordered the cheapest entrees we could find. Because they would not make any accomendation for us, we did not order any sides or dessert either. So our total bill ended up being less than the cost of the original steak we were going to order. So Woodfire lost over $25 on us for not being accomendating. We were not given any bread plates for our bread and our server was non-existent the entire meal. Inexcusable considering the place was empty. No wonder with the so-so food and the very poor service and extreme high prices. I would NEVER go back there, and would NEVER recommend this place. Go to the buffet instead or walk across the street to the Grand Harbor and have dinner at Tony Roma instead. Or for that matter any of the number of great restaurants on Main street in Dubuque. Very disappointed in Woodfire. But we did not let that ruin our anniversary we had a great evening in the casino and at the Justin Moore show. The casino was great and so was the Mississippi Moon Bar. I will go back to the Diamond Jo for the entertainment but not the food.

It was an average casino that went to well below average when the security went overboard on our group. If you were not gambling at all times they were throwing you out; clearly they do not understand that patrons generate revenue and by removing them, you remove money from the business. Security pulled the "State of Iowa card and said that intoxicated customers need to leave. If the customers were beyond hammered and dropping money on the table they didnt care but if you were near the bar and not gambling...tossed. If you dont want intoxicated customers than remove the bar or tell the customers that they are cut off and watch them leave on their own accord. The twelve of us will never return and we will make sure everyone knows how awful this train wreck of a casino is. Good luck with your casino business model of throwing out customers that want to gamble.

We stayed at the Grand Harbor Resort across from the Casino for my cousin’s wedding. After the wedding reception we went over to Diamond Jo and they denied access to the entire party because one lady in our group stumbled. When my 60 year old uncle questioned their decision a huge security guard yelled at him, threatened him with physical violence and escorted him off the property. What kind of a casino denies access to a party of paying customers sober or drunk? It just doesn’t make good business sense. I have been to my fair share of casinos in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan but I have never seen anyone denied access for something so petty. Their loss, we were all ready to spend a lot of money.

The Casio is of the new generation so it is more open. Air quality was good on our Wednesday night visit. Slots were mostly dated with a few newer ones mixed in. Definitely not any 2016 released slots here. The table games were lethargic to say it best. Dealers not talking and players following suit. I didnt play much. We did spend $10 and go to the stand up comedy show. It started terrible and then got rolling, well worth the $$. The cocktails were average for the $. PLASTIC GLASSES! It is a shame! I was deemed worthy by a cocktail waitress who brought us real glass! Good place, no hotel? Plenty parking and decent amenities.

Went there for lunch and it was okay; but not great. After all, it is a casino so its going smell of smoke (Im not a smoker, so thats a turn off) and you have walk through it to get to the restaurant (cough-cough). Only other down side, I thought it was a bit over priced for what I got. Even though the food they had was tasty and taken care of nicely and prepared nicely, Ive seen larger selections at other casino buffets for about the same price. So, Id say a bit pricey, but just barely worth it. Guess Ill be going back, but probably not very often!

Its an ok casino for its size. I played roulette which was good but the slots were lacking. I think they need to upgrade some of the older ones. There were the fancy new ones with the big lights and colors but they were always full so you had to wait to play. I love the live bands but I thought last years disco/dance cover band was a better choice for Halloween weekend over the Manic band (AC/DC type cover band). Not good for dancing. Will be back in June and then again in October as I am every year. FAR better than the Mystique down the road.

Absolute trash, the place is brown boring and greedy. They were never good to begin with but boyd gaming took over and they got even worse, an absolute joke. They took all benefits away from players and employees. The food is Terrible, the staff is ok but the second you get to anyone higher than customer service they are rude and ignorant. This place will over fill you all day with cheap liquor and try to get you to waste your money. I wouldnt go to this casino if my life depended on it.

3 Hour drive for me. I enjoy the Miss Moon Bar. Have seen Louis CK and Tom Arnold and HereComeTheMummies multiple times. Sadly when Boyd took the place over they shot the talent scout. Never any good acts anymore. Buffet used to be awesome but Boyd has started scrimp on it as well. The sports bar wants to be BW3 but service is so bad i just hit the walkup cafe window. Was a 5 star but Boyd seems to have worked their magic. I have hope that will reemerge to its former greatness.

The casino was nice. I felt like the slot machines were a lot tighter than places like HoChunk. They had a $5 and $10 minimum roulette table and two crapps tables, one that they were closing at 1230am. They also had blackjack, 3 card poker, pai gow, and two Mississippi stud tables (that nobody was playing). There was no let it ride table. It didnt seem overly smokey and people were respectable to those around them if they were smoking. The last casino shuttle left around 130am.
