This little course has been updated in the past year so that it plays longer and harder. Boughton Ridge has always been difficult from the back tees if you didnt overpower it and you were a more accomplished player whos misses tend to be left. The first hole is an example of this. It is "only" a 290 yrd par 4 from the back tee so you would think that a 7 or 6 iron would leave you with an 9 - 8 iron into the green. The problem is that if you miss left the tall pine trees guarding the left side of the green pretty much leave you little to no angle into it. Since most golfer slice they can play from the second hole fairway into the green. This type of "hidden" or pop-up trouble is symbolic of most of the holes where missing left (#1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9) is a really bad thing, but missing right on these same holes can still give you a playable shot. Hole 4 has now been updated to a healthy 400 yrd par 4 and it along with hole 5s dogleg left are quite challenging (again from the back tees). The greens while nice looking play at very different speeds from hole to hole so making putts consistently is quite challenging and that alone can blow up your score. Overpowering this course is your best way to keep your score somewhat in check since you need to be fairly long from the back tees to minimize a lot of the trouble that can "pop" up and leave you without an angle into the greens so dont play the yardages. For instance take a 3 or 4 hybrid off the tee on hole 1 so that if you miss left you are close enought to get an angle into the green. Holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9 all bring water into play and hole 4 feels like you have to hit it down a pipe to stay dry and have a second into the green. Holes 1 and 5 also claim a decent number of balls because a creek runs behind the greens so being short is preferable to being a little long. Two of the three par 3 holes must carry water right up to the the hole. Hole 8 for instance from the back tees is the signature hole and you must carry 180yrds because the water is right up to the green. Hole 9 usually claims balls hit a little too far to the right but is even worse if you go left because it is treelined and fenced down the left side (like hole 7). Is Boughton Ridge tough? Yes and No. At first it seems like an easy course to plod around that is right out in front of you but to post good, honest scores per the rules of golf you will find that it can be an accident waiting to happen on most holes. When you factor in the inconsistency of the greens and sometimes wacky hole placement (hole are often on crazy slope angles that make putting nightmareish) you find that getting up and down here is probably more difficult than more noteworthy courses you have played. Its fun, its a challenge but be prepared to loose some balls and have your score inflated.

Ever since the new management company took over, the quality of maintenance of the course has suffered. There was hope when General Manager Marc Leroux took charge. Things started to look better. This year we found out Marc is no longer part of Boughton Ridge. Greed seems to be setting in. Our perception is that many employees are not happy with the way things are going. It use to be fun and affordable to be part of the Monday Night mens league. It is no longer the case. We are a group of 8 golfers. Most have been part of the league for 5 to 10+ years. This will probably be our last season at Boughton Ridge.

FIRST TIME -- DINNER AT ASHBURYS.... EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE!!! The four of us enjoyed our first time here with great meals and our server Khayree did an outstanding job. My brother in law enjoyed the pot roast dinner and said it was the best he had in a long time. My husband had the talapia which he said was delicious! Everything was very good that we ordered. Next time I want to try the burgers. Heard they were very good. We will definitely return.

Pity. The course was heading in a great direction last few years but is slowly but surely going down hill (aka Kemper???). Complete disarray.

Nice 9 hole course. Price is reasonable for 9 holes and a cart. The entire course was well kept. I will be going back when I am in the area.
