The WGV ambiance seems very upscale and the place seems really nice and classy but once inside theres a bit of a dated feel to it. Not sure if the place doesnt get enough business to justify improvements or the management doesnt care but, my biggest complaint is the seating. The seats are old and not very comfortable. Low back style with not much padding. I really love the screen size and sound but if I gotta be uncomfortable for 2hours its "almost" not worth it. Also, its a bit weird figuring out where to park... no matter what, you have to walk a bit and figure out where the entrance is... not fun if your not familiar with the layout of the place. Sometimes it feels a bit like a ghost town too going to the later showings and not going on an opening night. The entrance/lobby staging area is confusing for bigger newly released movies. There are apparently special passes and special membership lines vs. The standard lines... oh well...if this theater wasnt 5min from my house I would probably never go. I still rarely do. Bottom line, the parking is a little weird and they need newer, more comfortable seats but if your nearby and like a massive screen and massive sound, its nice.

This is the WORST imax Ive been too... here are the reasons why. 1. Because the theater is located in this what people like and called prestigious location they only play certain types of movies which is very stupid and business wise is even more stupid and it sucks because of the laws regarding IMAX theaters only being allowed to be so many miles close to one another. Sure you have other movie theaters that claim they have IMAX but its not. 2. The fact that you pay more for the ticket and its supposed to be the most technologically advanced movie system you would expect that they would have freshly popped popcorn fountain drinks not bottled drinks its ridiculous the concession stand is a joke totally. Number 3 this IMAX theater by far has the most uncomfortable seats of any IMAX theater Ive ever been in and close to the most uncomfortable seats Ive ever sat in a movie theater. 4.. the sound system on an IMAX level is really not up to par some of the speakers or even blown you can hear the distortion in the background. If I wanted to experience a true IMAX movie 3d I would go to an IMAX 3d movie theater in Orlando it is way better

The screen is okay, not as amazing as I thought it would be. The seats are the worst Ive ever sat in. I went twice so far (Im a PowerPass member). Well, so much for priority seating. I went the opening night for Jurassic World. They didnt give priority to ANYONE. By the time I got to sit down I was in the very front row. Next time Im not wasting my time on a PowerPass. I wont even waste my time driving down from Jacksonville for this theater. Ill simply go to tinseltown. The concession stand is also a joke. Half the time no one is there. They also dont have a soda machine. They sell bottles of soda ($3.50/each). You wont even have time to get anything, PowerPass or not. Youll have to choose between making a mad rush to get a good seat or grab snacks first and end up in the very front row. Update (12/23/15): Tinseltown in Jacksonville, FL now has reserved seating and they actually enforce it. So much for PowerPass priority seating that they dont even follow at this theatre. As soon as I found this out I tossed my half used PowerPass into the trash bin.

I agree with the reviewer below, Cody. Something has to be done and brought to managements attention about the priority seating. Power Pass members have their own line and the younger guy that was volunteering there opened the ropes to BOTH lines are the same time after people who had been in the non-annual pass line were complaining that I "cut in front of them" in a different line. NO, I just spent the money on a pass. It was a race to the top and the "angry" people ended up getting the seats before me. Im sure the young guy working there had that planned. Also, I have had the luxury of having people already in the seats who took the elevator up ahead of time. Something really needs to be done about this. The only positive I can think of afterwards is going to go play golf.

Great people, great atmosphere, a PLEASANT theater experience with great showings for everyone! Cant believe the whiners on this page... If youre that unhappy and youre not coming back then just go and let others decide for themselves! Youre sour attitude isnt helping anyone. Everyone should experience this theater for themselves. Youll never replace some of the memories you will make... Took my WWII VET Father to one of the Histoical Films... Unbelievable footage... Talked for hours afterwards. Hes 89 and never once complained about the seats. ENJOY the EXPERIENCE you can have here instead of expecting to just go to another movie theater, eat food, be semi-entertained and go home. There are many other theaters for that... Or your living room.

Yes you are at an IMAX theatre, but dont expect a traditional theatre experience. In fact the experience here is worse. This IMAX is basically in a shell of a golf-centric real estate development that still hasnt recovered from the crash of 2008. They do have first run movies and the screen is in good shape, but the concession stand is small with a limited selection of snacks compared to more traditional theaters I visit. The only other business open in the complex is a Caddy Shack gastropub. If you are in the area for multiple days this is a decent spot to cool off, but if you have limited time checkout other places in the area.

I visit here entirely too often. I make a point to check out almost every new IMAX film. Sure, the seats could be better (and that change is in the pipeline apparently), and sure the concessions are on the high side even for movie concessions. However, its a quality (lie)MAX (not film, its a digital IMAX) screen with the premium audio that makes movies more enjoyable. The seating is staggered so there isnt a bad seat in the house, and the prices are basically no more expensive than any other theater. If you want to see a movie, and that movie is playing at the WGV IMAX, just see it here. Its the better way to enjoy movies.

So this has become my favorite theatre in Jacksonville and has made me go see more movies. The imax is very good and it is digital. The price is about the same as any other theatre also. The only small issues I have is that the concessions stand is not much. Some overpriced popcorn and candy and bottled sodas behind a little counter. Not a huge problem as I never buy it anyways. Not much staff working and only 1 movie at a time. I like it though because it is usually not very crowded and more enjoyable.

Proper IMAX screen, friendly staff, affordable prices compared to most other IMAX theaters. -1 for seat comfort. The seats do not have a headrest cushion which means you must either hold your head up or rest it on hard plastic. -1 for seat positions relative to screen. Because the seats are positioned close to the screen, many of the available seats have uncomfortable viewing angles. I advise getting there early enough to find good seats. It makes all the difference.
