No blockbusters, just indie and Oscar buzz material, a quality that can also be reflected in their popcorn. Not your typical half-stale, fake butter coated garbage but freshly popped with real melted butter. Its amazing. The popcorn sizes are excellent, though Id recommend going up in drink size. Other food options include chocolate covered pretzels, cookies and brownies, and gelato. Yes, gelato. Ive never had the gelato, but I respect that its an option. The theater also draws in a great crowd, usually all old people, which is always more preferable than kids, and they seem to have a certain air of harsh judgement, like theyre film critics themselves, so when they clap at the end, you know it was a good movie. 5 stars.

Although it takes about twenty-five minutes to get to, I do prefer the Bethel Cinema to the multiplexes in Danbury. Cozy and retro, the Bethel Cinema offers the same first-run movies at similar ticket prices, but the venue is more desirable for its intimacy than the huge multi-cinemas. Parking is an issue, however, which is why this venue didnt get five stars. The lot is tiny and ill-constructed, and it is shared with a popular restaurant. Ive had difficulty getting in and out. Finally, the refreshment stand reminds me of the former Towne Theater in Pennsylvania that I frequented as a kid in the 1950s and 1960s.

First time visit. 5 stars for the movie selection (saw Lion - highly recommended, very moving) but 2 stars for the theater. While the theater is somewhat charming, the seats are very confining and uncomfortable (I am an average size female).and are packed very close. I left with a leg cramp. The screen is low and I had to constantly struggle to read the subtitles because the head of the man in front of me was blocking my view. The snack bar is over priced, and so are the tickets for the lack of comfort and room.

If your in this part of Connecticut and your used to the good films (like in NYC and Boston) that go beyond the sope of the typical suburban population mindset, this is where you need to go. I will be supporting this cinema after having seen "Inequality for All" earlier today. When the light go on, you dont want to leave the theater thinking you wasted your time.

An excellent venue for independent, foreign and first run mainstream films. A comfortable place to enjoy films away from the crowds and noisy chatter of the local multiplex. And, what makes Bethel Cinema even more attractive is ticket prices at peak times are lower than the multiplex. What more can you ask for? Itseems Bethel Cinema all the way.

Not only is the Bethel Cinema an escape from the hoopla of the mega movie theaters with their 10 gigantic screens and mindless noise of commercial successes, it is a venue that (mostly) promotes art films that are created from the heart that speak to the heart. "A movie theater with a conscience"

Charming and quaint, shows a mixture of mainstream and indy features. 4 screens total, all quite intimate. The staff is friendly and laid back. If small screen sizes dont bother you (you can sit quite close) this is an awesome place. Priced a bit less than the major chains too.

This is a great place to spend your time at the movies! The staff is always delightful and the popcorn is really good (with REAL butter). They show some films not shown anywhere else around which we really appreciate. J & K

My home away from home: small, cozy and never wrong in selecting the best films:,whats not to love? Still hoping they find a restaurant more closely resembling the organicity of their culture. One day.

Great local theater with the better movies. Cadiz is a fabulous restaurant next door so dinner and a movie couldnt be easier. Highly recommend you try both.
