Century 16 Bel Mar is a movie theater located in Lakewood, Colorado. It is part of the Cinemark chain and offers a variety of movies and snacks. The theater has recently implemented assigned seating and has reclining seats in every theater. It is situated in an area with several dining options, making it a convenient location for a full evening out.

This movie theater is kind of awkward. There are two sides to the food station, but Ive only ever seen one side open at a time. The food selection is one step above basic movie theater options. They offer snacks like beef jerky, a couple pizza choices, and super nachos with salsa, sour cream, olives, and guac, just to name a few. The food line is a little unorganized though. There are foods you can pick up on both sides of the line so people are kind of bouncing back and forth before they reach the check out. The theaters themselves are split up into two separate hallways. So if youve gone through the whole food line, youre standing directly in front of one hallway, but that hallway may not be the one your movie is in (it never is for me). So you have to walk all the way around all the food areas to the other side of the theater. Not a huge deal, just like I said, awkward. The theaters themselves are usually fine. Things can be a little sticky during the late night movies. But the very back row has extra floor space. Great leg room for tall people like myself.

This isnt a bad place to catch a movie. If you come on a week night they are almost deserted. My wife and I watched Sully here a few weeks ago and had a great experience. This place has the feel of a small local theater though it is larger on the inside than you would expect from the outside of the building. The sound system is newer which I appreciate. One of the main reasons I go see a movie in the theater is the sound. Like most theaters the concessions are a complete and total rip-off, but that is pretty much a constant these days. Youre way better off spending some money on a quality meal in Belmar and then going to a movie afterwards then spending $30 for some crappy popcorn and soda. Belmar has so many nice restaurants it makes it easy to get a meal before the show.

Ive been attending belmar for many years & just last night their staff had treated me poorly & kicked me out because of my race. Ive been to this movie theatre since i was very young & never had any problems, well last night i tried to buy a ticket to go see IT with my i.d. for proof (because it was rated R) & their excuse for asking me to leave was because i didnt have an adult with me (just so you know im an 18 year old Mexican American born & raised here.) The cop was also very rude. & I just feel extremely discriminared against in this situation. Ive heard of Belmar being racist before but never believed it until now. But Ill be checking into this much further with corporate. Just thought you should know

Ive tried this location several times, all but one of my visits theres usually a group of young kids that whisper and giggle audibly through the whole movie and it really takes out the whole experience. Could I leave the theater and tell a manager? Yes, but Id be missing out on a movie while I go out on an adventure to find someone that doesnt work in the concession stand. By then Ive already missed a good portion of the movie I payed to see and the kids will usually start talking again right after the employee scolds them. Only redeeming quality of this location is the outrageously cheap movies on Tuesday, but even then, if this were the only theater in the Denver area, Id wait until the DVD release.

I went in today with a small party of people. We were 45 minutes early to the movie we wanted to see. Were going up to buy our tickets only to find out we could not sit next to each other because this theater now does assigned seating. So we decided to maybe go to the next available movie which was an hour and a half later. This one also did not have any seats where we could sit next to each other. We left and went to a Regal theater 20 minutes away where we all got to sit next to each other. I would gladly give this theater more Stars once they change theyre assigned seating policy. Until they change it I will not be back.

Popcorn stale, food service employees inattentive and made mistake with my transaction forcing me to wait for a manager. Seats older, not very comfortable, kind of cramped in among others. Movie cut to loud static twice. First time, I was disappointed terribly, as it was an anniversary showing of a 20 year old movie, but wanted to stick with it. Went on for about five minutes before someone attended to the issue, then kept trolling us by turning the lights off and on. After the second time, I was livid. No apology, just a ham-handed attempt to bark at me if I wanted a refund. Will never be returning to this theater again.

I cant stand any Century theaters. This one happens to be the worst. This is the only theater that charges 1 years and up. The prices are ridiculous. Everything is super expensive. I was just there and spent 34$ on my 2 year old daughter and I.... 19.50 for tickets. And then 15.75 for a small popcorn, a medium soda, and a small slurpee. I can go to AMC and spend less and they have recliners. Any kid movie I go to there is always kids running around inside the theater. There is no supervision from the staff at all. I will not be coming back this place is awful.

Update: They have reclining seats in every theater now and you get to pick your seat ahead of time. Feels super luxurious and less stressful. Now I just come an hour early, get my tickets, pick my seats, and go to a happy hour within walking distance because I know my seats are guaranteed. Great theater with a large food area with tons of choices. The ticket taker was probably the nicest movie theater employee Ive ever met. The screens and sound were great too. Parking can get tight in the free parking area, though.

Very uncomfortable temperature & sound. Just watched Start Wars ... Awakens. As we all filed out everyone was commenting on how cold it was. Uncomfortably loud by about 30% I mean, so loud I moved to back row and found something to plug my ears Every movie I have seen here has been too loud, but today was worse. Not talking about action scenes, feel like actors are shouting at audience for 2 hrs. The theater, lobby and restrooms are always extraordinarily clean. Parking is close and feels safe. Matinee show

We saw Girl With The Dragon Tattoo today at the Belmar Century 16 and really enjoyed it, but would have enjoyed it MORE if the volume was as high as they have it for the coming attractions and we could have HEARD the other half of what they were saying! We also wish theyd have optional salt on the popcorn ( make it without and let people add it if they WANT it. My heart stent would feel so much better! But in all fairness, they do make it for me special, if I ask hard.
