I had some time to kill between when I arrived and the rest of my party arrived at the Burlington, VT airport. I looked for something local to do. The Ethan Allen Homestead was only 20 minutes from the airport. This tour was one of the best tours that I had been on in a while. My tour guide - Bob - sat me down inside the theater/remake of a tavern in the visitor center. He gave me about 25 minutes worth of history on Ethan Allen. It was really detailed. Im a history major and I was impressed. Then he took me over to the Ethan Allen Homestead and proceeded to go through each of the rooms and describe the items found there and how they were used during Allens time. The building and the grounds were in impeccable shape. Bob was very knowledgeable and answered questions thoroughly. A great family outing. Nice gift shop and artifacts to view.

We arrived after it was closed for the season however the director was on the premises and gave us a tour anyway. I learned more about American history during our visit than in any class I ever took.

Interesting but not for kids. Its a tour with long explanations of every thing. Tour guide was clearly irritated that my kids were there.
