Worst fish store I have ever dealt with. The employees do not listen and seem to have little interest in being helpful in any way which is interesting for a small store that probably doesnt make much money in the first place. Specifically, Chris and Mike are horrible representatives and if they were my employees, I would fire them both immediately. Mike was extremely rude and dismissive on two separate occasions while Chris pretended to listen and apparently wasnt listening at all. I normally prefer to give business to locals rather than to corporations, but I have to say that the level of customer service I have received at both Petco and Petsmart is far superior to the service I have received at Tropics. Dont waste your time, your money, or your breath. They wont listen to you anyway and you will probably end up as frustrated as I am, or worse. Save yourself the stress and work with another store that actually knows what they are doing and probably has less inflated prices too.

Wanted to give my kids a pet and what better pet than a fish. Went in the store looking to start small and thank god they have sells people that are helpful and knowledgable. They save me a lot of money and started me out right. I am back to upgrade to a bigger tank from 8 to 30 since my kids did not kill any fish, now the price goes up but the staff is so helpful they save me a lot money again. I wish they had a bigger store but know SLO is high rent. Great job Tropic for the second time visit.

Great fish store! The staff is super helpful and nice. They get lots of fun and unique fish in, and its evident that Paul puts lots of thought into the items he stocks. They are always happy to help and will even test your water for issues. If you are looking for something special, just ask and they can often order it for you!

Great store and very educated staff. Willing to help with any questions or concerns. Has a great stock of corals and fish. Ive never seen any of their tanks dirty or dead fish. They know what they are doing. What a great store for our community of both Salt Water & Fresh Water enthusiasts.

My favorite fish store. I run a fish tank at my school and tropics always helps with any questions a novice like myself has. They just expanded and everything looks amazing. Great selection with new fish almost every week.

Fish seem like they cost more than other places, I also was walking around looking for stuff and no one said hey or asked if I needed help. Not a big deal, but the guy working wasnt super sociable or anything.
