HANDS DOWN THE BEST! Best Coral Selection and reef tank husbandry HANDS DOWN! Ive been in the Hobby for over 10yrs, and have seen stores come and go. No store I have visited has been able to match VIVID, this is why I know for a fact this is the best REEF AQUATICS store in S.F.V. and L.A.. • They keep everything fully stocked at all times (Coral, Fish, Supplies). • Aqua-cultured coral will do much better in a home reef system than the WILD collected coral pieces you find at a majority of stores. They Sell AQUA-CULTURED which is grown in similar reef systems as a hobbiest would have at home, and also sell MARI-CULTURED coral. SOME VERY NICE COLLECTABLE PIECES. • The ACCLIMATION process Vivid uses insures your Fish and Coral will survive, this is why they GUARANTEE it. Most stores will sell you coral or fish dirt cheap because as soon as it ships to their store they float it for 10minutes and dump the fish or coral right in, only to sell it to a unsuspecting customer a few minutes later. • Corals get DIPPED to decrease the probability of any unwanted pests infesting your Reef tank system. Fish also get a dip or are placed in a separate Quarantine system (Fish Hospital with medication) until the fish is safe to sell to a customer. I have visited many stores where they will sell you a sick fish or obviously visible infested coral. • VIVIDs water quality is unmatched! If you have ever made your own Saltwater or RO/DI water then you know the time and money that goes into producing high quality water for your Reef system. Many of L.A. Countys and Ventura Counties Top REEF Maintenance companies can be found here buying water because they know they are getting top Quality SALT WATER like D&Ds H2Ocean or Tropic Marine. Most other stores use cheap salt mixes to make saltwater (Ocean pure, and so on...) and use TAP WATER, yes TAP WATER to make fresh saltwater mixes. I have seen this with my own two eyes and have had friends who wanted to be cheap and save a couple cents only to have their Reef tanks CRASH! • The staff is very knowledgable and always friendly, although sometimes it does get extremely busy and they do take a little extra time to help everybody out which is humanly understandable. If your the type who wants to be successful at reef keeping this is the store for you! You Do Get What You Pay for.

When I walked into the store I was impressed by the main display tank, but thats all. The service was prompt, but they were not knowledgeable and I felt like they were lying to me to get me to spend more money. I think I was talking to the owner too. He was very self absorbed. He talked about himself a lot and was not at all interested in me. I felt like he was looking at me like I was a giant dollar bill sign. If you enjoy looking at corals this place is fun to visit, but if you want to be treated like a human being and you care about getting your moneys worth I recommend buying online. liveaquaria has a great selection and reasonable prices. You might also try trading or buying on the reefcentral forum. Further, I bought coral from this store a few months ago and now my tank is infested with flatworm. They offered to re-dip my coral which I passed on, but now I realize they offered that because they must of have known their system was infected. It doesnt get any more unethical than that. The reason I passed on the re-dip was that it stresses the coral out and they assured me they had already done it.

I go to Vivid Aquariums all the time ONLY because there are only 3 saltwater fish stores in the valley.... i know the staff O to well.... if you love spending more money than you should on a coral or fish that you can buy at half the price then continue to go here. I hate the big guy with the glasses thats always rude and always over charges people for EVERYTHING. i only go to vivid to get water now NOTHING ELSE. If you know your corals well then look closer at there corals (they all have diseases TRUST ME) i bought all my coral from them and later on i realized i got ripped of bad (even though i walk in with my daughter and they see a young single father) to them all they see is $$$$...... Who the hell charges $30 for a turkey baster??? i only "hate" one person at this VIVID spot and i dont know his name but hes tall, has glasses and never f***ing smiles. rude and stupid dude lol (we know he never gets any at home)..... BOTTOM LINE THIS PLACE IS OVER PRICED AND MOST CORALS HAVE A DISEASE (AND NO THEY WONT EVER MEDICAL DIP THEM FOR YOU, EVEN IF YOU ASK NICELY)

I have been shopping at Vivid for over a year now. Coming from the freshwater world, it was a big change to set up a saltwater reef for the first time. It is truly a one stop shop as I was able to order my Solana and all the goodies to get it going through the store directly. Yes, the store is a little bit higher in price (compared to Marine Depot); however, the service and expertise is worth the difference in price. Everyone is friendly and willing to help (regardless of how theyre dressed) if you run into an issue with your setup. The guys that work there are Hobbyists and know their stuff, so its not an average joe behind the counter. Also, for the past year I have been all over the area - from Long Beach to T.O. and I havent found a store that has the quality of frags and selection compared to Vivid. Bottom line - a little bit higher prices, but quality and selection makes up the difference. Plus their 800g reef is awesome and worth checking out,
