This is a horrible zoo. One of the women cleaning the cages came into the fox cage and started talking to me and my family. The lady said that she was using bleach to clean the cages, and she didnt even clean up what she sprayed. All the animals look beat up, tails missing or falling apart. Most of them just walked back and forth looking traumatized or delirious. There was a young buck with beat up horns and he just sat there staring out the fence towards the street. This Zoo was sad and depressing, no animal should have to live in such small cages or be cleaned with bleach.

Applegate Park is a very big Park nice place to throw parties and whatnot but the playground is disgusting and the bathroom is disgusting when I leave from that Park I feel like I need to go home and shower immediately the bathroom and the park needs to be redone the toilets are disgusting in the bathroom its scary to even go in there by yourself the playground needs to be redone

Since this is the only zoo for miles around I guess it has to have some kind of middle rating. But there isnt much of a variety of animals. .. And to be quite honest, the animals look quite miserable. But, that is my opinion. However, it did not stop me from taking all four of my children to see them on numerous occasions. So, hypocrite I may be after all.

As a new resident of Merced I was very disappointed to see so many homeless people making their home at the park. Im not saying the homeless are a bad people, but I was just amazed that homeless where all over the place, trees, benches and even along the river. This park could look better Merced.

homless people everywhere,comparing our kiddie land and zoo to fresnos is laughablesmall. our animals at the zoo is pests or targets in other states...bob cat,deer, bear,little monkeys,birds, feeding sheep....not impressive really. kiddie land is terrifyingly preschool small.

Great place to have fun with your children. Want to spend quality time with kids and make time in count then come to applegate park. My children and I always have fun we visit the zoo then go to kiddie land and we play in the park a great day well spent.

This is a very small zoo but I loved it. The best part was the little miniature pig Iggy. The petting zoo portion was not open as it was a holiday but I was able to rub his belly and scratch his back through the fence. I cant wait to go back!

The zoo and its animals could use a little love. Hopefully as UC Merced grows there will be more support for better cages and happier animals. I always enjoyed it as a kid and its affordable for large families or small budgets

Ive been going here since I was a kid and I think its great that I am now able to take my kids. My girls love feeding the goats! My only suggestion would to be to have more activities for families to participate in together.

This is a very small park zoo but it is kept very clean and neat. There are a lot of benches and shade. The animals are usually sleeping during the day. The mountain lion was my favorite animal to see there

Very nice park. Kids really enjoyed themselves here and all of the parents seemed to get along. Rides and snacks were fun and affordable. Wish all public places could be half as welcoming and fun.

Its just not the same, the rocket is gone, not as many cool animals as before, and why is Kiddie land so limited on space? I make do because my kids enjoyed it long ago and now my grandkids do.

Bathrooms at park are abandoned feces all over the floors and sinks. Bums take sponge baths in the bathrooms with toilet water. Merced County really needs to clean up this park!
