Its a 3 star zoo because its very small and not enough animals.. We had to pay $10 for the park entrance because they counted the day before memorial day as special day not holiday ( I guess they dont know memorial day is a holiday)and then entrance fee for the zoo separately. You can go to the Japanese garden, fun town, zoo which is accessible with the parking entrance. In the zoo there were no Lions, giraffe, monkeys. We drove from Elk Grove to Lodi to check out the zoo. My daughter kept asking where is the lion? Are we going to see soon. There were lots of turtles. The restroom needed cleaning. At the end of the zoo, I asked her whether she had fun. She replied yes. Mommy where is the lion? My little two year olds zoo adventure was surely incomplete.

A waste of time. $5 to park, another $5 per adult to get into the zoo which is full of empty cages. There were a few monkeys in one cage, a large cat of some type sleeping too far away to see from the walkway, and a big lizard sleeping on a log. I went there as a kid and it was great, lots of animals, so I wanted to bring my kids and it was a huge letdown. The zoo in Merced is small but 100X better and costs less. I wont be going back to Micke Grove again. And I wasnt the only one, ran into some other people there who were shocked at just how bad it was. There website is very misleading making you think you will actually see animals. I actually wanted a refund but they refused of course.

Came here for a quick visit on a Saturday with our 6 year old daughter and had an enjoyable visit and took away some good learnings. Snow leopard was majestic and looked very comfortable in his compound. Food court was closed and petting area was not operating. As with any small zoo, some of the cages seem a bit too small and animals seemed confined. This was especially true of the fossa, a very cool cat-like, carnivorous mammal endemic to Madagascar. He was pacing back and forth as if he just wanted out :(

This is the place to go when there is nothing to do. The zoo is very small, but its better than nothing. The japanese garden is beautiful, and the playgrounds are some if the best for many miles. Skip the amusement park here though. Very small, WAY overpriced, ancient equipment and high school drop outs run the rides. Last I was here the little punks were talking about smoking dope and partying when they got off. Good for you kid, do the world a favour and go crawl in a hole and never come out.

Two adults + 2 kids= $22 including parking. The zoo had mini marvels and was quiet which is a good change of pace. THE Kids LOVED it. Right next door is Fun Town that was closed due to the weather but it still looks fun to take your little ones. All in all we had a nice time walking around everywhere and playing on the massive park in Pixely.

$5 per car to get in the park and you get access to numerous playgrounds, lots of open space, a water play area, and the Japanese Garden. Its an additional charge to get into the zoo, but its fairly inexpensive. There is also a small amusement park with rides next to the zoo that is an additional cost (you pay per ride).

The zoo is small, but the staff and education department is phenomenal! We love participating in the programs, like Zoo Tots, that they have to offer. You get to be up close and personal with the animals during the programs and the kids learn so much from the teachers! Love this place for my little ones!

Great place to visit for kids and just to relax for the day. The zoo is pretty boring now since they dont really add any new animal, most of the exhibits seem dead almost. The kids town there was pretty dead also. At least the staff is willing to help you out.

Considering what a small zoo this is, its pretty enjoyable. They have lots of monkeys, lemurs, birds, and some more impressive animals like the fossa, bobcat, and snow leopard. You can walk through it in about 45 minutes, so its nice for a short visit.

A small zoo, with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Some very unique animals, including the snow leopard and a Fossa. The grounds were immaculate and the staff seems to ensure the animals have plenty of creative distractions

I think it was good for mostly children because it has many rides as fun town and big park good for pinic and parties verify. It was cute zoo small and relax. Also there has nice Japanese Garden, beautiful. We like it it was enjoy.

Very nice park has a park mini amusement park and has a mini zoo for your kids 5 per adult 13 and up and 3 for kid 3-13 very nice highly recommend for your kids and familys also there is a Japanese garden very nice area

What a waste of money for the zoo. Its ridiculous that you have to pay cash for parking. I could think of a better way to spend $20. The snow leopard wasnt even out and that seems to be their main attraction.

Excellent little zoo for a family nature adventure. While you are in the park where the zoo is located, explore a beautiful Japanese garden and check out the great new playground equipment.

I will not go back. Should be able to pay for parking with debit/credit card. What business only takes cash??? Gate keeper didnt looked surprised we turned around must happen all the time.

This to us is a hidden gem with a little of everything to offer for kids: Zoo, Rides, Playgrounds, and a water fountain to get wet. Also great place to have a bday party or a picnic.

A smaller zoo than others Ive been to. Mostly smaller animals and birds in a family friendly setting with areas of ponds with turtles. Great for younger children.
