My 5 year old daughter loves this place. We have a yearly membership, and visit almost weekly. Im not in general a great fan of keeping animals in zoos, but this place is a sanctuary, where many of the animals have been hurt, abandoned, are problems (bears) or otherwise couldnt make it in the wild. Its not large, but there is a good selection of animals, and my daughter knows the names, history, and predator /prey relationship of all the animals in the park. Well worth an hour or two of time to check it out.

Its a sanctuary done up zoo style. Therefore it depends on who or what has been rescued what you see. Some animals have been there for years some pens are empty awaiting new inhabitants. Animals all seem well cared for. It only takes about 15 minutes to see everything. Its that small. If you want to see more than an aging coyote and a Shetland pony I suggest the Sacramento Zoo or the San Fransisco Zoo.

When I first came here, I was disappointed with the size of the animal enclosures. Then I learned, this is a sanctuary where they have rescued animals, not a real zoo. The plus side of that, is you are closer to the animals and can usually see them very good. Everything is clean. There is a very nice park right next to it, so it is a great place for kids. Entrance fees are not expensive.

Smaller than many might expect because it isnt a zoo. It is a sanctuary which are so rare to get access into. But the staff is super friendly. Make sure you read the signs about each animal as they all have a reason for being here and not in the wild. All being rescued in one way or another. Make sure you check out the peacocks doing mating dances it is really funny.

What it lacks in size it totally makes up in heart. The exhibits are equal parts display and rehabilitation. Many of the animals are rescued pets or wounded wildlife, but in a caring facility that truly respects their charges. They have a nighttime holiday lights event in December that is fun for families, since several of the nocturnal creatures are out and about.

Theres a surprisingly wide variety of animals. Tigers, monkeys, snakes and eagles and really every other zoo animal. No bears?but thats ok, we diverted my daughters disappointment to the cool train out front. Took a ride and then went back in the zoo and got a rooster to be an impromptu guide. Fun day, and it costed about 15 bucks. Total. Great right?

Small, very educational and fun. We got to see all the animals up close. Its just very hot during the summer months . So, youll definitely need a backpack with lots of water and snack. Folsom City Zoo is well worth supporting. They rescue these beautiful animals and give them all a comfortable home.

Great price for the quality. Great size in my opinion. And half off Tuesdays is pretty great! (maybe just during summer?)--need to verify online.kids and adults loved it there. Train is to the right of the zoo and a huge playgrounds area to the left of the zoo. Great spot to spent lots of time!

This zoo is so cute and its such a joy to bring my daughter here its always quiet and not to crowded which is nice for a peaceful stroll and its also not far from where i live so i can easily get here whenever i feel like a zoo trip and its not very expensive either like most zoos ive been to

This Zoo is small compared to Folsoms. Best part of this Zoo is the tigers and bears are our for the viewing most of the day. They seem to like all the attention. Folsom Zoo the giraffes are the best. Very nice place. Bathrooms are clean.

Lots of fun and educational. Excellent variety of animals, even though many have sad stories. Makes it very much worth supporting this location, though. Also, the only functional miniature steam engine in the country. Pretty neat.

for being a small zoo near a public park it is great, they have wild peacocks running around turkeys and other small birds, fun for the whole family and relatively cheap. I really enjoyed the open field area where deer run wild.

Small and cozy, not overly crowded. Many of the animals are rescues. Lots of trees and shade. Its a small zoo, so it wont take more than a few hours to see everything. Adorable little rideable train right outside the gates.

This is a good place. Not depressing like other zoos Ive been to. Every animal here is a rescue and has a story. It only costs 5 or 6 dollars to get in and there are lots of animals to see. They also have cats for adoption.

Its very small and doesnt have a ton of exciting animals but with young kids its perfect to walk around outside and do something thats pretty cheap. The peacocks and chickens that run wild make this place special.

To me i didnt find it worth my money. Mostly because most of the animals where not even out to be seen. It was in the middle of the day and it was pretty hot out that day. So maybe just poor planning on my part.

I have had a family membership for many years, and love seeing the additions and expansion of this facility. My family especially loves to see the feral cat that continues to live with the bears, unharmed.

This zoo is small but interesting, with plenty of times during the week to avoid crowds. The playground and library are within walking distance around a shared parking lot, quite a bit here for kids to do!

Wonderful family-friendly sanctuary. Plenty of room for strollers, and my kids loved the train! Having rescued animals is a fantastic concept that my kids are excited to learn about as they get older.

Fun zoo/sanctuary tucked back in a couple of a historic town. Peacocks roam freely. Every animal has a story behind it. Nothing glitzy. The focus is on being a sanctuary for the animals.

Nice local zoo. If youre looking for a place to take the kids and not spend a bundle, check it out. Allow an hour or two and go early for the best chance at seeing the animals active.

I love this sanctuary. I took my children and now my grandchildren. It does great work here for the animals and its perfect to visit and learn. Not overpowering like big city zoos.

Nice place to go with family. We enjoyed the bears, and we realized how big they are in reality. There is this signage to see their size. My 10-month-old loves the zoo.
