It is always a mixed bag at Chester Washington. Ive gone about a half dozen times (all weekends) and the majority of the time it was a decent experience. No major delays. A somewhat slow pace but not egregious. The snack bar is incredibly slow because it seems staffed just by a single person. However my most recent adventure was booked for 2pm. When we arrived 20 minutes early to check in, we were informed that there was a tournament going on that was "backed up" and that we would be delayed 35 minutes. It wasnt the best news, but given past times had gone ok, surely we could wait half an hour. We were given a few complimentary buckets of range balls to pass the time. 45 minutes later when we tried to get an update we were told that we werent going to be golfing "any time soon" and that it was 30-45 minutes (again) Frustration started to set in. And after 30 more minutes we were told....stop me if youve heard this before that itd be 30-45 more minutes. Even that revised revised estimate seemed improbable given that there were no carts at all to handle the now 25+ golfers waiting to play golf (all of which had been waiting from 30-90 minutes) We finally decided to give up and just call it a day as given the rate of play and limited golf carts available we most likely would not have teed off until 4:30 or later and gotten at best 12 holes completed before dark. Overall it was one of the most frustrating experiences Ive ever had at a golf course. I do at least appreciate the guy at the front desk offering us some free sodas for our dejected ride home.

I really enjoyed this course. The fairway & greens were in excellent condition. One thing that was bothering our group of 5 was the group in front of us. There was another group of five in front of us who played very slow. When they were playing the 13th green. I noticed the 14th fairway & green was completely empty, and the group in front of them were starting to tee off on the 15th hole. One guy in our group who we didnt know, was constantly cursing and using the f word over and over directed towards the group in front of us. Of course I was upset as well, and I feel this shouldnt be overlooked. I feel like there should be some marshals driving around regulating the course and making sure things are rolling smoothly. Golf should be a stress reliever not something that creates more stress.

I play here quite often and I have to say this is probably my favorite course for the money. Keep in mind that it is a public course so there will be slow groups and some obnoxious people. As far as the course, it has a very good and challenging layout for all levels of player skill. The greens are very nice when they are not being punched and the fairways are excellent. Overall a great place. If I had to pick something that I did not like is the chipping area, it is pretty small. Other than that its great!

Hadnt played the course since the new ownership took over. I expected some things to change but never expected that rudeness was a new thing, the guy in the pro shop very short , and rude , his attitude ,well I will say theres no place for that type of attitude anywhere on any course. But I still like the course.

Quality place with a quality staff. Fairways always well trimmed, the bunkers clean. My only problem is the greens can get a little unkempt somedays, but for the most part, I love it here! Ive already played my fair share of rounds here, but I wont be stopping any time soon.

Played Chester Washington on Tuesday, 23 April 2013. The course is in pretty good condition, especially for a public course, and the speed of play was good, also for a public course. We were treated very well when we checked in. Will come again.

Its a wonderfully layed out course with just enough challenges to test quality golfers. Being a "hacker" myself, I struggle to find the calm over the water hazards on 7 & 9. Haha... Super twilight at 430 for $13...great deal!

Good course to golf when you cant find tee times else where. Semi challenging course. Relax and enjoy ocean breeze from 5 miles away. Not too hot in summer. Not too cold in winter. Good weather all year astound.

Had a ceremony in one of their banquet halls and the staff kept vacuuming in the background while people were speaking. If they wanted to vacuum they could have at least closed the door.

My dad goes there every Monday night for karoake. They have excellent singers but its mostly for older, more mature crowds. But you will have a good time if youre into that sorta thing.

Nice track, not crazy long but very challenging with smaller greens that move more. Can be slow at times. OK range with a small short game area to warm up.

Nice older course, gets lots of play. Greens are typically better than most muni courses around and the pace of play is decent at true golfer hours.
