Played here for the first time in the past week. Course is what it is. Land owner built it himself and that is neat. It has a Driving range but you have to cross the 65 mph highway in a cart to get to it. Dont expect a lot with warm up range but it is a place to hit a few balls. I enjoyed the view there before we even got on the course. Now for the Turtle Hill 18. The front 9 has about 2 holes that stand out but most of the frontside is very bland and goaty from tee to green. Once you hit the back 9 you see a lot more variance in hole designs and elevation. Elevation changes make the back 9 very fun even though the condition is still goaty tee to green on that side. Greens are in good shape for bentgrass. They were soft, hairy, and slow but rolled decent. I could see where in the right condition the greens could be very fast and treacherous because the course is built on rocky firm hills. The entire course is what i expected going in. Fun layout but not the best turf conditions. I have played much nicer places for the $35 weekday rate but to be out in the middle of nowhere chasing a golf ball thru the hills and wind turbines.....it was fun. I have played super nice tracts in DFW but 6 hr rounds and background noises sometimes wear you out. Turtle Hill is not going to be that for you. VERY peaceful and relaxing which means as much to some as the condition of a course. It is BYOB as well.

This is a tough one to review. The layout is awesome. The back is exceptional. Lots of elevation changes. Two par threes that you usually only see in Mizzu or somewhere. It looks to be wide open but the way the fairways are mowed it is somewhat narrow. Tee shots are vital. The gentleman working the shop was great. Now the bad. This is a country golf course. The shop is tiny. The bent grass greens are pretty beat up but fair. The fairways are Bermuda and weeds mixed. Outside of fairways it is hard and rough. Bunkers are all dirt no sand. Yardage on card and in book they give you are not the same. It is a good country course but not a 5 star by any means.

Played here today. Our group drove in from Dallas. We heard a few years ago this was a really nice course. No longer. It is in terrible condition and it is clear very little to no maintenance has been going on for quite a while other than basic mowing. Definitely not worth the trip from DFW or the $35 to $50 green fees. Considering the elevations and the views its a shame it is in the condition it is. But this is cow pasture and they are just letting it go that way.

This is a great course with lots of elevation change. If you dont know it is there, it is somewhat hard to find on a google search for golf course. Many of the holes provide their own unique character. It is very playable, but challenging if you make an incorrect shot. Definitely worth the drive! They also offer stay and play packages.

Nice golf course until the hogs tear it up. Theres a must see par 3 where the tee box is up above the green. Beautiful area.

A very beautiful course with many challenges that make a good golfer better. A little long and the elevation changes a lot.

Nice course, front nine kind of plain but the back nine is far from it. Beautiful scenery . Worth the money

When the golf path reads "Use the brakes" - they mean it. Beautiful, quiet, deadly. We had a great time.
