TERRIBLE customer service. The staff makes you feel like youre completely invisible. My husband and I drove over an hour to get to this store because my husband has a large salt water tank and this place is supposed to be one of the best...Well after our long drive, we arrived only to find thier entire salt water section closed off as they appeared to be unloading a new shipment of fish.. (shouldnt that be something done after hours?) But oh well...I politely asked a gentleman how long it would be before we could view the saltwater fish. He said about an hour (I should have asked his name because he was very nice-probably the ONLY one who was) We took our two small children across the street to McDonalds to wait the hour I was advised. After about an hour we returned...The saltwater section was still closed and the only polite employee that they had working at this store was gone...Everyone else refused to look at us and just made it very obvious that they were annoyed that we were waiting on them. Im sorry, but I drove with two small children over an hour to get here so...yeah, Ill freaking wait. After another 30 minutes or so, I approached another employee(I later found out her name was Tracy) and I explained our situation and asked again how much longer. She seemed extremely annoyed but pointed to a black tub on the ground and said we could look but just to stay away from the tub that apparently still had fish in it...I told her we just wanted to buy a fish or two for my husbands tank and that we would be quick. I quickly looked but there were no fish to see. Most of the tanks were empty. She asked what type of fish he was looking for and quickly shot back reasons why we shouldnt buy either of the two types of fish my husband said he had in mind...He has a large well established tank so I was a little confused why she would want to deter the store from making money. I could tell that us having children was really bothering the employees all around. Let me just say that I completely understand that kids suck sometimes..But we were keeping our children close to us and making sure they werent being disruptive of anything in the store...But we were being treated just like those idiot parents that let thier kids run wild and destroy things..WHY? Why even bother trying to teach my kids to behave the right way if the employees are going to treat me as if Im doing the opposite? After a long wait, no fish to see, and just overall terrible customer service from the staff my family and I left the store with no fish for his tank. Extremely disappointing trip all around. We will never return to The Ocean Floor.

This isnt going to be your typical run of the mill LFS. If you are expecting a spotless store that smells like lavender then go to Bath and Body Works. This isnt geared towards your average betta owner. Sure they have plenty of Betas, and bowls and the like, as well as your kids pet gold fish that they have been bugging you about. What makes this store so amazing is that they dont care about fancy marketing, flashing lights, or marble floors. The Ocean Floor is about the people and the passion they all share. If you cant sleep because you are haunted by ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, hardness, or simply because ick is something more to you than the sound your kid makes, than you will fit right in here. People like Mike make this place what it is. Its not just a job, its a way of life. If you have an issue they will personally take all the time they have trying to help you figure it out. And when they do...they arent trying to push you to buy a new mega reef 5000 tank because that solves everyones problem, right? Ok yeah maybe it would, but maybe you will find divorce papers when you are getting that bad boy in the house, but seriously this place rocks. I have been coming here for about 10 years. I find myself to be a bit of an aquaria junky, but when I just found myself in a dangerous situation with water conditions and knew I would loose some very beautiful very expensive fish, I came in and said what the heck is going on?! Gave them some water to test (just in case my tests were old or somehow inaccurate. They could have confirmed my findings, but Mike sprang into action. Told me exactly what he wanted me to do to fix the issue and then said heres my cell phone. I dont care what time it is if things go sideways, call me or text me. Seriously?!? This perfect stranger was willing to go out of his way to help me out of a jam simply because his admiration for all things aquatic are just that important. Thats unheard of this day in age, and that my friends is customer service. I have made a friend...and a trusted source for correct info when Im scratching my head. Hats off to you Mike and everyone else at the Ocean Floor!

Had several mixed visits here. Ill start bad but itll get better I swear... Most of the staff are rude which I thought I could let slide because they are selling living creatures and would like them to live right? Well unfortunately Ive received and have heard of quite a few others receiving faulty information about the fish one of the main concerns being the popular pea puffers. Of course I was suckered into buying these little guys because they have so much personality, but I was not given a reasonable amount of information to go home with. I was told I could go home with my little buddy and plop him in some nice brackish water and feed him micro pellets. Fun "after-the-fact" they are not brackish at all and his favorite foods are snails, brineshimp, and bloodworms. Ive had a couple of other pea parents tell me that theyve received the same information and have had a lot of trouble with water quality and feeding. I will take responsibility for buying before learning more of course, but no one tried to talk me out and they were made out to be aa simple as neon tetra. I was also very rudely lectured once about how I should flush my betta because he was not suitable for his 36gal community tank, which I though was really weird because the myth that bettas can only be housed alone in small tanks was dispelled quite some time ago. Other than those two incidents, the fish at this store are extremely affordable and the staff makes an effort to pick the healthiest animals for you to go home with. They also have a very nice fish food selection in comparison to most other local stores, although I would like to see gel food like Repashy on the shelves in the future. All of the front girls are extremely friendly and welcoming. I feel like they never pass judgement on your purchases, something very rarely seen in pet stores.

Seriously? I went in with my mother who speaks hardly any English since she is from Mexico. I sometimes translate for her. But after I walked away she was asking questions to one of the employees who only spoke English. So they called the Manager up who i guess was Bi-lingual . My mother was talking to her and trying to get some information about a tank she wanted to purchase for me and my husband. Well as I walked back I heard her being quite rude , and then my mother just turned away. The Manager did not know I was with the person she was talking to , and she made a comment in English to a blond haired girl who works their about how she hates talking to those Illegals! She called her ignorant and walked back into a closed off room. OK I understand that when someone comes from another country to visit , they might want to know some of the local Language . But honestly my mother has lived her entire life in Mexico and wanted to spend some money on a tank set up for me and my husbands new place. I left right away and went to another store. We spent $6000.00 on a custom 450 gallon setup. We are happy for this gift. But how can someone whose family comes from Mexico or Latin America be such a Racist! As i have seen with my trips in the past. Most of the clientele is Hispanic. WARNING ! THE OWNER NOT ONLY THINKS SHE IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE< SHE IS A RACIST AGAINST HER OWN PEOPLE!!! STAY AWAY!
