I used to shop here for used equipment & it was ok, but hadnt been there in a few years. I was looking for a professional to sand & buff my acrylic tank. I was thrilled to see that they offered it,so I drove 45min ea way to drop off the tank. Weeks went by and they didnt return my calls nor did they respond to my messages. After 3 weeks he finally called and said the tank was ready. I went to pick it up & I had to pay for the service before I saw it. When we were loading it the tank was upside down and had leaf debris, so I couldnt even tell what had been done. When I got home & got it unloaded we saw. Not only are ALL the original scratches still on the tank, but now the front is hazy which it wasnt before. I contacted Chris who stood by his work and refused to refund any of my money. He claimed my tank was badly scratched and this was basically as good as it gets. However, I took the tank to a local acrylic shop (they know Chris) & the guy actually laughed out loud and said Discount Aquarium should be embarrassed to charge money for what they did because its an easy buff job and they did a half A** job. Reefers connect all through the valley & bad news travels fast. He bashes other businesses on facebook, but he needs to clean out his own tanks! The customer service stinks along with the dead starfish & Urchin in his tank + all the cyno bacteria!!!

If youre looking for cheap used equipment this is the place for you. Livestock prices are good but make sure you have a quarantine set up as they flip livestock without checking for bacterial infections/parasites/disease. Last time I was in many of the fish had issues. I like Aquatouch for quality livestock. Theyre the only vendor left in town (now that Reef Culture is gone) that quarantines all livestock for at *least* 2 weeks before selling. They will order and quarantine anything for you, usually for $10-$20 more than what other stores charge but its worth it when one sick fish can wipe out your tank. I really wish Discount Aquarium and other vendors would follow their lead on this. For quality coral I go to The Aquarius. The owner makes trips to LA every other week to hand pick the sexiest coral and fish. The fish usually look pretty good since he hand picks them, and theyre medicated in the display tank, but they dont quarantine before selling.

I saw on one of the Facebook aquarium scam groups that this place is posting any photographers images on their page for business use without the photographers permission. As a photographer myself who makes some money on the side with my photos, I felt compelled to share this info with more people than just on Facebook. Using any photo found on the web without the photographers permission is against the law called the digital millennium copyright act which protects authors of a work from people like this. I saw another review here where the owner says he uses photos found on the internet which is "public domain" but he clearly is uneducated about copyrights and that just because a picture is on the internet does not mean he can use it. He says he would take a pic down if the author complained, but in reality it is his responsibility to ask. Dont support businesses that act like this.

Went in to just browse after seeing Chris post on craigslist. The store is packed with merchandise and fish. The aquariums are beautiful. I left with 2 [used] tanks at a more than reasonable price. Chris was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, kind and generous. He cared about us and even appeased my 11 year old son, asking questions and telling stories. Great place especially if youre in the saltwater scene. Skip craigslist strangers and long drives and come here. It may be a bit crowded in the store but its worth it. He knows where everything is, and is more than fair on the price. Customer for life. Makes me want to get into saltwater so I can purchase fish here too! This guy is great. Thanks Chris for running a fair, local business, and for working so hard. I wish you all the success you could want. You deserve it.

I found this place on craigslist a while ago. They have used everything for your needs. The quality is good also. They also give you store credit for things you bring them that are not needed anymore. As for the fish, they have a good selection. Yes, sometimes they have a few dead floating around but so does petco, petsmart, the ocean floor, and any fish places. Are you actually able to keep every one alive after what they go through? The prices there are fantastic. I have yet to find a place that has cheaper prices when not on sale. Lastly the employees. I have only worked with Shane, Chris and one other. Shane and Chris are the most knowledgeable on there prices and about fish and water. I recommend everyone go to this store. Yes, they are a hole in the wall, but they are the best,

Josh Dec 3rd, I cant believe the type of service I recieved at this store! They resealed my tank 3 times and it leaked every single time. The craftsman ship was terrible they cracked my tank in two different spots, scratched my tank, the paint was scratched and when they were working on the tank they didnt wash there hands so there was silicone prints all over the tank with dog hair stuck to it for some reason. This went on for almost two months. I called them back asking for my money back and now they wont return any of my calls. This has got to be one of the worst experiances have ever had. The store its self is in discusting shape, the tanks are dirty, the help is terrible and I have talk to many other people about this store and they have recieved the same type of service.

The guy working there was helpful when i got a hold of him. Its a small place and is somewhat crowded. I took a look at the livestock. Found 1 dead 3inch fish floating in the freshwater section. I suspect most of the fish here are not the best healthy quality livestock one can buy. That being said theres always a large selection of used tanks, which is why most people come here in my opinion. I was looking at a sump they built for a customer. While technically functionable, the poor worksmanship in the build was clearly visible with globs of silicone and smears on the panes. They offer in store credit for your used equipment which is nice. This place would be ideal for the aquarist on the budget.

The store lacks a professional attitude. Horrible customer service and a disregard for customers time. I special ordered a number of plants and was told that they would arrive on Tuesday. I waited the week and called to figure out when I could grab them. I was told they did not ship and would be available next Tuesday. I decided to cut them a break and wait another week. Tuesday comes around and I call. There is no answer so I leave a message. I call 10 times from 10 am to 2 pm and get no answer. Finally, I get somebody to answer around three only to find out that the plants once again did not ship. TLDR: Waited 2 weeks for nothing.
