Last time we will be coming here. Purchased a pH adjustment kit along with other items. After using for the kit for several days per its instructions the it was having no change on the pH of our tank. At this point I noticed the expiration date was a year old as of this month. No big deal I thought, it happens Ill just take it back and get an exchange. I was helped by who I believe is the owner as I have seen him in here several times. After giving him the receipt and the old product He retrieved an identical box from the shelf to what I had bought and told me he had to charge me $1 because the price had gone up since they put the expired one on the shelf. I thought he was joking.. but he was as serious as a heart attack. After telling him I didnt bring any money with me not was I expecting to pay anything for an exchange he just slid the box over and said "he wasnt going to argue with me over $1". What kind of customer service is that? My daughter and I lived coming here; but no way we are returning to be treated like that. He didnt even address the fact I had to come back to exchange the product or apologized for being sold a product that should have been taken off the shelf a year earlier. Not to mention this was being used with LIVE FISH. To any potential customers, avoid this place - check the expiration dates and good forbid you need to return or exchange something. We will go out of our way to visit a different store, I would recommend everyone else does too.

Upon walking into tropical treasures as a first time customer I was immediately overcome by this inevitable awkward and intimidating vibe from both the store and the employees. My boyfriend and I were looking to stock our 40g tank and as we were browsing for about 10 minutes were met with immediate condescending words from who I think is the owner. We felt that since we are a young couple browsing rather than some one who APPEARS to be more educated in aquariums/fish health etc. we were immediately profiled and bombarded with a series of blunt and offensive questions and comments regarding our knowledge in fish. I would have understood if the questions came from from a place of genuine concern and care for their fish and their customers however that was not the case. This man was offensive & judgemental and clearly by the look of the tanks in the shop not concerned with the health of the animals (as there was at least 2 to a dozen dead and decaying fish in nearly every tank. So next time you choose to be condescending and biased towards a paying and experienced customer, take care of the fish that you have in your own possession. Poor things are just sitting in overcrowded and icky tanks. Astonished at what a waste of my time driving all the way to this store was.

I visited this shop over a week ago after eating at hooters. i was interested in seeing reptiles. Sadly they had one. It is a adult female bearded dragon, i asked the guy how old it is? since i have one of my own that is much smaller. he says " a couple years" i said its more than that, as mine is a couple years. he replys " Then you tell me how old it is" very rudly! And the real sad part is This adult beardie should be in at least a 55-60 gal. tank, Lord knows they have plenty on hand. and the poor dragon was in maybe a 15-20 gal. tank, had no roaming room, and had a bright light shining directly on it. " No escaping the warmth for that lizzard :(" its abuse i tell you. Yes the fish tanks were not as clear as can be.they had plenty of fish to choose from, as well as under water rocks in a horse traugh, the crickets were bottom notch. and it did smell. this i can understand. maybe there going under, or maybe barely staying afloat? i dont know.. but if they wernt trying to make extra bucks on a beardie i can get for much less at a well known shop i would have taken the poor thing home to re sell it my self. Po-dunk pet shops break my heart :(

People complain that the business may not look as great due to the used tanks and its appearance but the guy who runs the place knows his stuff and its apparent by the quality of the tanks in which the fish are stocked. You dont stay in business this long not knowing what your doing. When I came in, a lady just bought a tank and was trying to stock it within the week. The guy tells her the truth about cycling tanks, she gets upset and thats the type of customer that writes bad reviews. She didnt want to wait for a cycled tank. Check my tank for proof of quality, some tetras and all guppies from here. My point, if your fish die or appear sickly within the week, its likely your tank and not the quality of stock. Every time I come in, hes always greeting customers by name and its apparent they have been coming for a while and that means something to me. Other things, mondays are generally new stock from what I can tell and a little bartering could happen if you have extra healthy stock of your own (fry&shrimplets).

I live across the street so I shop here when Im not able to get to a further store. Its terribly set up, super cramped, dirty, and smelly. I bought 2 fancy guppies from there and they have been great healthy fish, but I recently bought 3 serpae tetra and took them back the next day cause I found out they had ick. When I brought the fish back the employee tried to tell me there was no ick when clearly there was and all the other fish in the tank had it too. They sold me a neon tetra that was either mismarked or so old it had no color and it died within hours of getting it home. The crickets are bottom grade and you mostly get dead ones. I wouldnt recommend this store BUT they do take fish surrenders which is all I will be going there for.

This place is HORRIBLE. DO NOT GO THERE! They may have really cool and many different types of fish, but they are kept in horrible conditions! The tanks are crammed, dirty, there are always dead fish at the bottom of all the tanks, and the fish have ICK DISEASE! I spent $30 on a green severum and a few days after buying it, it became infested with Ick and spread to the entire tank!!! We never had any fish that had Ick disease until after we bought this fish from them!!! This place needs to be shut down! The store also smells very bad and is dirty! The reptiles are all crammed into a tiny room. There is total animal abuse going on in there and way over priced fish!!!! please take my word and do not buy from these people!!!!

Good local pet stores are hard to come by. Yes, it is cramped and smells like the animals that inhabit it, but compared to Petsmart and Petco, the selection is much better, the staff are much more knowledgable, and the fish are much healthier, which means much less likely to die. They also sell reptile setups, which have everything, including the reptile. They buy used tanks (last time I checked) which means they sometimes have a selection of cheaper tanks and setups. Prices are fair considering the fish are bigger and healthier than chain stores. Overall I have enjoyed having this store close by so I dont have to give my business to a big chain that cares nothing about the animals it sells.
