The venue is gorgeous and one-of-a-kind. We booked all 8 rooms for family for the weekend for our wedding. Everybody enjoyed the elegant and historic rooms. Our wedding was really beautiful because of this venue. However, I had to rate this as 3 stars because our experience with the owners during the wedding was very bad. We were promised hot tea and coffee would be available for meals, but they kept the tea kettle turned off even when guests were drinking it during breakfast. Our communication with the owners was always stressful; they constantly second-guessed all of our decisions and gave pushback to whatever we- my husband, my mom, and me- said. It seemed like everything we asked for was a hassle for them: simple things such as using the dining room to prep the flowers. The biggest source of stress my entire wedding weekend was dealing with the owners. My mom even came to me while I was getting ready and expressed how much they were stressing her out. These owners turned what was a pleasant and happy experience into a high-tension situation. Also, my husband and I had a plate of food specifically set out for us at the beginning of the reception; the owners came by and ate both crab cakes sitting on the plate, without asking, leaving me with none. I never got to taste a crab cake, my own food that I paid for at my own wedding. During the wedding reception dinner, one of the owners hovered around me and my husband to the extent that it made us uncomfortable. He also made me feel very uncomfortable when he tapped me with a dishcloth and asked me to leave the kitchen. We were hoping that this would be a place we could go back to stay at for our anniversary or other special event, but after the unprofessional and uncomfortable interactions with the owners, I do not wish to return.

If youre looking for a romantic getaway with historical surroundings, Mayhurst Inn is ideal! The rooms are decorated with period antiques, modern conveniences and luxury linens. The amazing 9,500 sq foot house is a testament to Italianate architecture and the care that has been taken to restore it to its present day beauty. Mayhurst is surrounded by nearly 40 acres of pastoral scenery for a quiet country walk and photo opporunities galore. The breakfast was creative and fortifying with a beautiful presentation and impeccable service! The evening wine and cheese and chocolate truffles in the bedroom were also delicious! Hosts Jack and Pat North are warm, funny and thoroughly knowledgeable about the areas restaurants, shops and historic sites. We felt like we were visiting old friends by the end of our stay! We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful mansion, historic, lovely grounds, and the best innkeepers! The food is fabulous, the hosts very accommodating and helpful. Love the evening wine and cheese gathering in the library each evening. It is a special place which we have visited now 5 times.

Beautiful place. The hosts are wonderful and make you feel right at home. The breakfast was delightful and the grounds are just gorgeous! Make sure to request their baked apples! So good!
