Wanted to see Pitch Perfect 2 opening night. Went to a big theater chain. Movie time was sold out, tried to get tickets for next movie time, one seat on one side of theater, second seat on the total opposite side and third seat way in the back. Since when can a family of three not sit together to enjoy a movie. Drove around then came to downtown Bay View, saw the Avalon and stop in. Told us that they were seats available where we could all sit together. Never been to the Avalon, but I will totally go back anytime I want to see a movie. Very pleasant experience. Very nice staff.

Great theater, interesting atmosphere, good movie selection. Clean, good crowds. Comfortable seating. Love the pre-show entertainment. Soooo much better than the standard bix-box movie chains. Only minor problems and they may be growing pains. The audio in the main cinema is a bit echo-y. The food is middling quality, but they are still experimenting with the menu. Some things were great (pretzel sticks FTW) other things are pretty bad (most pizzas). They need an unsweetened ice tea option, almost everything else besides water has sugar or liquor.

Super comfy, usually a chill audience. I appreciate that they do special showings, like "Night of the Living Dead" that they did recently (sold out btw!) or the month of Hayao Miyazaki movies on Saturday AMs. Also really like when they show old news reels, like they did before Dunkirk. Another cool thing is the personal touch. When we saw one of the Star Wars movies a couple years back, the manager actually came out before the show and thanked us for coming to the Avalon. Who does that anymore?

Terrific atmospheric date theater! Enjoy coming here, only complaint is the inability to order everything at once, it would be nice to simply order and pay for dinner and drinks (the first round!) with tickets. Give us number cards like Culvers or buzzers like Marcus or text us like El Beso. Youd get at least one more drink out of me each movie that way. But well be back for the next special movie event we want to see without the monstrous crowds and with a classic setting.

I normally love the Avalon. Great food, great space they have. The atmospheric theatre is so lovely. Though the last time I went, my boyfriend and I had no service, they had skipped right over us. Another issue I had was when I went to see Star Wars The Force Awakens. Bad idea for 3D, considering I was off to the side and got a splitting migraine from the angle I was at. Bad idea, guys. Hire more people if you plan on offering service during a busy movie.

Beautiful theater in a lovely community.. Food is pretty average for this type of venue.. Popcorn is actually quite good.. The problem is the movies that are shown here are just so generic at best.. It seems that the owners are missing out on showing good/interesting/independent/documentarys...More to life than Disney... To many of us neighbors who looked forward to having the theater renovated, and fully operational its a real disappointment...

Great to be back in The Avalon! Fantastic & friendly service. Very comfortable. Food reasonably priced. However, I think the sound system needs to be tweaked a bit. My husband, daughter & I missed a few of the dialogues. A friend since told me she experienced the same on a different day. Not horrible, but just needs a bit of tweaking. I cant wait for the next movie so that I can return! Thank you for revitalizing our neighborhood theater!

So happy to see this theater, which I enjoyed in my childhood, back bigger and better! LOVE that what is considered premium higher priced white popcorn is the Avalons only popcorn --and its available for free refills (which isnt the case with competitors), The staff and food are great and the seats are ultra comfy with plenty of room -including in front of you. Havent visited the bar yet, but love that its there. A true Bay View gem.

Its a nice remodeled theater that was brought back memories from my childhood. The seats are absolutely comfortable as long as you have somebody with you because there double seats. The food is quite expensive though but it is a movie theater. But for the price of the food the quality was not there. I bought mozzarella sticks they tasted like microwaved mozzarella sticks.

If you like echoes in your movie, this is the place for you. The dialog in the movie was difficult to understand since the walls are all Stucco and reflect everything. There were only 8 people in the theater and perhaps having it full would lessen the effect but I wont be back to test this hypothesis.

Best movie theatre experience. Normal pub prices on food and waiters to serve you at your seat. Um... yes please. The decor is also charming. Its an old theatre that has been recently restored. Only downside is when they arent showing what I want to see and I have to go somewhere else.

Waited in line way too long to purchase tickets. You walked in the door, waited in a line that did not move to buy tickets at the concession stand, same place you bought popcorn, etc. little theater to flat. Watched a guys head the whole movie. Two workers to sell tickets and buy food from

Food and drinks in the theater! Big comfortable seats with serving trays Servers do not interrupt the movie, they just walk down the isle and you let them know you need something You may want to show up early to get your food and drinks done before the movie. Interior nicely done.

This place is AMAZING! It is an absolute treasure to have in this neighborhood. Staff was awesome and friendly. Food was terrific. Seats were comfortable and convenient for for food. And on top of it all there is so much charm and character. I will be seeing every movie here!

A beautiful and historic theater, with the feeling that youre sitting in the courtyard of an Italian villa, watching a movie under the stars. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Didnt order from the in-theater dining menu, but will have to try that on my next visit.

Newly remodeled theatre that is a staple to Bayviews Kinnickinnic Avenue. Really awesome comfy chairs with swivel tables and waitresses to serve you food and a full bar of drinks. I really enjoy the ceiling that shows the nights sky with shooting stars and everything

Great theater and atmosphere, sound quality is lacking though. I would not mind if they had to get rid of some of the aesthetics in the theater to help the quality, or even put some carpeting on the floor to cut down on the sound reverberations through the theater.

Saw my 1st movie at the Avalon today and loved it! Great job on the renovations, really comfortable seats with attached trays for snacks, cup holders for drinks. Staff was very welcoming. Very clean restrooms. So glad we finally have a theater close to downtown!

Great atmosphere for a movie theater. I love going to the Avalon or the Oriental. Food is decent. Staff is great. One thing that bothers me is the dialog is difficult to hear occasionally in the atmosphere theater. I think it might have to do with the acoustics

This historic Milwaukee landmark in Bayview is my favorite local cinema. The beautiful old building is a treasure, and the theater is fitted with lounge chairs (business class seating!) nand small tables. Light meals are served, along with beer and wine.
