It would make a great place for a movie theater. But good luck buying a ticket by any other means than driving to the theater and buying them in person. That is actually a great way to spend a half hour of your day only to find that the show you want to see is sold out. They have what they call a "website but unless you can remember what websites from 1992 looked like, you wont recognize it. It appears to have been designed by sixth graders, but the bonus is, it rarely works. When it does, it takes so long to buy a ticket that its actually faster to drive to the theater and buy the tickets in person. It seems the management of this company must hate the internet or the concept of buying tickets by means of sending "electrons flashing through the sky." Perhaps they are close knit group of troglodytes? But wait! Theres more. You cant buy tickets by calling them on the phone. But if that doesnt bother you the process of finding that out should. First you call the theater using the number listed on thier practical joke website. After you listen to a recording that mentions nothing about buying tickets you will select options randomly until you are provided a number to call the real theater. Thats actually quite a clever way to improve customer service. Then after dialing that second secret number you will reach an actual employee of the theater only to learn.... you cant buy tickets over the phone. But there is good news. They have an app! What wonderful news! It perfectly replicates the shitty website you just wasted 40 minutes of your life trying in vain to buy a ticket on. Again, we learn its faster to drive there and speak with one of the cave dwellers about tickets. The Post Office has these guys beat hands down for efficiency. Unless Im mistaken, isnt the idea of a theater to SELL tickets? Hey Galaxy, news flash.. we can stream this stuff over the internet (that you apparently hate). So heres a friendly clue... take a look at the airlines and think about how they sell millions of tickets a day with thousands more options than you would require to buy a ticket for your theater. Technology is amazing. You guys should look into it before your business model goes the way of the wagon wheel.

I loved the Galaxy Theaters (clean, quite, comfortable seats and great staff) never had problems getting into movies or getting tickets on line when we wanted. But am disappointed in the changes coming. I am all for comfortable seats but wont putting in fancy recliners take up space meaning fewer seats, and yep, higher prices. I am a retired senior and will miss the bargain days. Oh...and one more thing....reservations? Whats that all about?? Wont it remove the convenience of going to see whatever you want, whenever you want, on the spur of the moment or getting there early to get your favorite seats? Or having friends or family meet you there who didnt make reservations when you did? We have recliners and giant screens at home. Oh...and no reservations required! ONE YEAR LATER: Yep...prices went up. No bargain days. My daughter, a friend and I tried to meet up for a movie last week. No seats left for three people to sit together and we were there early. Seats are ok, but I am 56" and it is difficult for me to get into and out of them?? "Hop up and do the bootie wiggle time!" Oh...and now they have put in another snack bar. Serves wine and beer which can be taken into any theater at any time. There goes family friendly. REALLY...cant people do without it for two hours?? What about the VIP room?

Unlike most theatres, Galaxy has luxury Lazy Boy style seating. This is both a plus and minus. The seats are extremely comfortable, and wide and deep enough for even extra-large adults, and they recline and have foot rests. The negative is that because each seat takes up so much space, there are fewer seats per theatre so you have to reserve specific seats sometimes days ahead of time to get a good seat (you pick your seat at time of ticket purchase just like in most stadiums or concert halls). Also, it makes it harder for a family to share a container of popcorn since the width of the seats makes it difficult to reach. We participate in the Rewards program which earn us discounts on tickets/concessions. Concessions are typically priced ($15 for large popcorn and drink, as Id December 2017). They have recently reinstated their Tuesday special for loyalty Rewards Card members ($6 per movie on Tuesays for most movies). I have not tried their VIP or Dbox seating options.

Hate the oversized reclining seats - horribly uncomfortable for small people (Im 52"), with a huge headrest that pushes your head forward into an awkward position. Theyve also attached these swing-out trays to the arm rests that block your view of the screen (if youre short) and totally get in the way of actually using the arm rest for its intended use (and forget about holding hands if youre on a date...). Gone are the days of snuggling up to the person youre with - but, hey, if you like being a mile away from the rest of your party, its all good. Also, they removed the arcade games and put in a wine bar - I dont have kids, but that doesnt seem very family friendly in a town where theres already not much for kids to do. Ill stick to just watching movies at home.

This was once one of the best theaters, but its been surpassed most other decent theaters. Their projectors are old, outdated and dim (although the dimness could also be a side effect of them keeping their theaters so bright.) Half their theaters screens are on the small side. Their sound is weak and has little bass. Ive experienced numerous projection mistakes, like framing for the wrong aspect ratio, which they dont fix unless the film is straight up not playing. The only thing this theater can brag about is their reclining seats, but most decent theaters are putting those in these days. There is a small hope. Maybe the new IMAX theater they are building will be a theater worth seeing a movie in, as the IMAX corporation has fairly strict standards.

The theatre gets 5 stars for everything....but after moving to Seattle and discovering some theatres are offering better food choices (includes wider food choices and yes, healthier food choices). I have to lower this one to 4 stars. This theatre is always clean and comfortable. Lots of leg room for tall people, which is my family (we range from 59" to 68" so this is important). I have never had an issue buying a ticket there and getting to the movie on time. But, I never go on opening night - we dont like crowds and I am habitually early. With family still on the peninsula we often meet her for movies. You have to bring your own healthy snack, they have not upgraded to apple chips/hummus, etc. Get a spring roll from LeLe next door!

The Galaxy Theater in Gig Harbor recently remodeled the theater and now my wife who is petite couldn’t see the screen because of a ridiculous barrier that sticks up in front of all the rows. I even had trouble seeing over the darn thing. And I’m not short. There are buttons to adjust a footrest and the backrest, but they do nothing to raise or lower the seat. My wife practically had to stand in order to see the screen. I have no idea what kids do in order to see a movie. The theater is definitely NOT children friendly. My advice: if you bring your children to the Gig Harbor Theater, bring a large cushion for them to sit on.
