B.Y.O.B (Bring your own BALLOONS). Spontaneously my family and I got up and drove to Lake Lure after the long curvy roads we finally got there and the view were amazing picturesque. It was Memorial week-end so we expected there to be no parking we eventually found parking. We walked over to the beach section my 3 year old and 4 year old were very excited. Granted we got there at 3pm no biggy they close at 6pm so I thought. Anyway to get in its $8 for Adults and Kids 4 and up. So $22 no biggy it helps pay for the up keep. Well before we could pay the young girl behind the counter was very snappy and informed us that the water features are cut off at 5 and that everyone has to be out of the water at 5:30. But your posted sign says you close at 6pm and its Memorial weekend. WHATEVER? Anyway my 3 year old LOVES balloons hes 3 :) they have a water feature were you fill little tiny balloons tiny with water and you put it in a sling shot and let go balloon war kind of anyway he just wanted the balloons. Well we bought some 10 balloons for $1.50 thats .15 for 1 balloon. 1 tiny "BALLOON". The kicker was they shut the water features off at 5:00PM. Then at 5:30 they were blowing a whistle to get out of the water. "ITS MEMORIAL WEEKEND". Anyway my son popped all his balloons and we were getting our stuff to leave my 3 year old was crying because he wanted some more balloons and my husband went to the counter to buy more but he only wanted 5 balloons, the girl refused to sell him the BALLOONS she sees our baby crying hysterically and she refused we only had .75 cents she wouldnt sell him 5 of the balloons she said, "We had to buy 10 they do not sell them any other way". and besides we close in 3 minutes. I was disgusted by her and with the place that should have been a very nice outing I wont go back. The entire staff was rude walking around with there walkie talkies RUDE. To the girl that was handling the money behind the counter dont work if you really wanted to be out having fun. Its not nice to be rude you made the experience "HORRIBLE".

This Experience was HORRIBLE!!!!! My partner & I went to watch fireworks along with a couple that have never been to Lake Lure. When we got it was so nice & relaxing to the point they were talking about coming up & all 4 of us get a room & do a weekend.... Until the inhumane act that the employees/ manager did. The fireworks finally got under way & low and behold it started pouring down cold rain...Pouring..... Everyone that had no shelter from this treacherous storm ran to the cover at the beach. Shortly after we go in there a few girls came out & announced to everyone that they were closing & they know its pouring down they open & proceeded telling the time of operations. The even cut the lights out on all of us. All these people who brought their children/ babies & elder family members to watch the fireworks were now being told to take the risk of all getting sick. We were also threatened by the manager to have law called on us because they were trying to close & we All refused to go out into the terenchel down pour.... Everyone decided to leave. We were towards the end of the line & they wrapped the chain around the gate & pole but did not fastened it. About 6/7 min after they did this an elderly & young woman with children starting walking up the ramp toward the exit. The oldest child said "they locked us in" a guy looked @ the gate & realized it was wrapped not latched so he opened it up & let them out. Shortly after they came out & latched the lock..... This happened on Independence Day ....Really!!!! How unAmerican is that!!!!???? Yaw should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!

Driving to this scenic route is thrilling. You will love the place if you really like nature.. water fall on one side of the road, hill an another side. There were good no of games you can play in water park. Just half mile away there is this Lake Lure garden. You will be surprised to see how beautiful it is and how neatly it is being maintained and the wide variety of collections they have. Another half mile there are good number of shops to dine, rest and to gift someone with something. One of the best family vacation spots in summer!!!

My b.f. & I took 8 yr old nephew who was visiting. Price a bit steep but we had a great day! 1. Sort of surprised with several signs about a NOISE ORDINANCE that loud motorcycles were CONSTANTLY cruising. #2 Shocked that SMOKING was allowed on the beach! Dont care for 2nd hand smoke. LOTS of cigarette butts on the beach - filters do not disintegrate for abt 10 yrs. #3. An $8 admission should provide larger changing facilities. #4 Staff were friendly and helpful. #5 Items in store were reasonable. We WOULD definitely RETURN!

I like this lake so much that I drove 70 miles, with my 5 year old grandson, from Gastonia, to go swim today. I pulled up the Lake Lure homepage and was assured that the swim park would be open from 10am -5pm. WRONG! Closed except for weekends, as of 8/20/17. Would have been helpful to post that information and would have saved me lots of time and gas.

We had an excellent time here. The staff is friendly and the beach and other amenities are well maintained (if only people wouldnt use the sand for an ashtray). Be aware that even though the beach is open until 6:00, the Water Park closes down at 5:00.

The water while not too deep was a nice place to relax. There wasnt a lot of noise and they had a place for for the kids to play with the water and water slides and food and drinks. This made the place very comfortable

Beautiful mountains surround a lake with a beach and full facilities. No alcohol allowed, which is the only reason it doesnt get five stars. Very family friendly and two restaurants, hotel and ice cream.

Great Place! Open view you can relax and spot your kid anywhere, you can bring your own drinks and food. You can smoke on beach, so you do not have to run outside the gate, great place

Its nice but wish they would find a way to reopen the bottomless pools. They are behind the big hotel . They are a wonder of the world and use to be a main tourist attraction.

We love the beach, were locals. With outrageous price of admission, we should be able to bring our own water balloons. Well find somewhere else to go. Not cool

Gorgeous beach...nice water park...... But closing the beach at 5pm on weekdays and the water park only open on weekends in August is ridiculous.

Super friendly and accommodating. Clean rentals. Definitely recommend. Just keep in mind that parking is scarce if you have a larger group.

Cool little spot to enjoy the lake safely and amazing view. Just wish the cashier Caroline had a better attitude, eek! Girl smile!
