THE GOOD: 1. Very pretty, peaceful place with Snoqualmie River running alongside and lots of trees, shrubs and wetlands, no houses, no freeways. Heard and saw lots of birds. 2. Laid back, not rushed. Of course, we were playing on Tuesday early afternoon, so not the busiest time to play. 3. New clubhouse with good food service, bathrooms, bar, pro shop, etc. 4. Flat, very walkable. My fitness app said I had walked 4.6 miles after playing 18 holes. 5. Not a lot of bunkers! THE NOT SO GOOD: 1. The course is not well-maintained. There were bare spots. The greens were bumpy. Some fairways were not mowed, so even if you hit a perfect shot in the "fairway," you were hitting out of the equivalent of rough. The course is situated in the bend of a river and is low-lying so tends to be on the wet side. Weve had a very wet winter and spring in Western Washington, so Im guessing theyve been unable to mow some areas because the ground is too soft and wet. NEITHER HERE NOR THERE: The course is short, so the course rating and slope are not high, but it was more difficult than we initially thought. The fairways visually look wide open, but then you notice that often only a fairly narrow portion of the fairway has been mowed. The rough is not so much long as extremely thick. We found it very difficult to hit out of the rough. The greens can be unpredictable.

Our initial visit to The Blue Heron Golf Course started off awkward, We had trouble with our "Golf Now" reservation. My credit card was billed, but upon our arrival, there "was no record of it" on the Blue Herons computer system. We had our reservation print-out in hand. The staff called "Golf Now" who reported they had no awareness of our reservation. We missed our tee time by 30 minutes due to the staff haggling with "Golf Now." The Blue Heron eventually offered us a complimentary round. Their staff was kind to us because we were traveling from out of town and would have been very disappointed if we were turned away on a busy, sunny Saturday. We ultimately had a great time at the Blue Heron, with their very nice greens, natural setting and comfortable clubhouse. We look forward to visiting again! As for "Golf Now," Im not so sure....

My party made a reservation through the phone, but when we got there they said there was no reservation. Once seated our waitress barely ever came to our table, and it wasnt even that busy. I ordered a plain Caesar salad, but when it came, the waitress told me it came with chicken on it, even though the menu said you can have it without. I told her I cant because I am vegetarian so she brought it back into the kitchen, displeased (even though it was her mistake). She brought it back out and it had small pieces of chicken hidden in it. To be honest the waitress was probably just horrible, but the restaurant seemed nice even though it had a small menu. We might never come here again.

Four of us went to the Blue Heron Bar and Grill for the first time on Saturday - located on the Blue Heron Golf Course. The food is just outstanding! We ordered the Cuban Sandwich, Rueben Sandwich, Garden Burger and the Asian Chicken Salad. My friend ordered the salad and mentioned several times that it was the best salad she ever had. The Rueben was made with marbled rye and the corned beef was lean and delicious. The garden burger was excellent and the Cuban sandwich was unique and also delicious. The girls also ordered spiced cider which was a real treat. We are very excited to have such a good restaurant in Carnation just minutes from our home.

PROs - easy to get on and play without the crowds. A few of the holes have interesting layouts. Low cost. CONs - Ive played the course twice. The first time was in the spring, and it was a swamp. The most recent time it was a desert -- ground was so hard you needed a hammer to put your tee in. The greens were in horrible condition with some even cracking from lack of maintenance or care. This course has a lot of potential but needs better care. The layout provides some interesting holes but the course conditions make you quickly realize why the price is so low.

These folks have finally done it right. Played the front nine, then went in for a brew with the fellas. Found our selves in another world not known to Carnation for quire some time. We had burgers and cocktails. Now the burger was impressive to say the least, huge and served with the best fries I ever ordered. One of my friends ordered the clams, put my fantastic burger to shame it did. literally drooled all over the place. Great place, great food, great people. Course is a little slow, but what do you want for the valley. The place is busy!

My wife and I had a Mothers Day brunch May 8th 2016. Our reservations were for 1:30 we arrived early and were seated immediately. Very nice atmosphere with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and golf course. There was a variety off menu items available. Executive chef Marc Chitwood was outstanding with his planning and preparation. This is a must place to try if your in the Carnation, WA area!!!

WHAT A JOKE!!! They dont cut their fairways, the greens are rotten, the tee boxes a concrete, and the service is RUDE! What else could you ask for in a golf course? I have been out there a few times this month. The larger lady at the front desk is very disrespectful! If you are looking for bad conditions and rude service Carnation is the place! Wonder why they are going out of business....hmmmm

New ownership breathed new life! Just played today and greens are 8/10. Just a few patchy spots, but way better than during the bad years. Restaurant is getting remodeled (again), but the burger I had last year under the new management was spectacular. Bring mosquito spray in the summer. One of the true bargains in Seattle golf. Very flat and easier than most courses.

Havent been on the course... Just the restaurant... Nice views of the course from the restaurant... Food was not impressive... Ordered veggie wraps... Not good. Service was terrible... Inattentive and took a really long time to check out bc they were not available for 30 min!! Gah! Food 3 Service 1 Decor & Ambiance 4 Cleanliness 3.5

Hoping an old friend was to be reborn, alas even with a great new clubhouse it is going downhill again. I know we had a very hot dry summerl, but couldnt u spare water for the greens. They were all cracked from the heat, and at least 30 percent of toatal greens surface area were nothing but DIRT !

Please pick up (rake) dead cut grass from shoulders of fairways. Its very difficult to locate golf balls after hitting in the rough. I lost 3 golf balls where I almost NEVER lose golf balls when playing.
