I wanted to treat our family (including 3 young grandchildren) to the special 4th of July fireworks display over the dam provided by Destination America. I decided to support a local Oroville business and purchased tickets for lawn seating from the Kelly Ridge Golf & Event Center. I purchased nine tickets at $10 apiece over the phone a few days before the event and was informed at that time there were a limited number of tickets left and we were welcome to bring in food and an ice chest. The person on the phone said the only stipulation was that barbecues were not allowed. I picked up the tickets on July 3 only to discover it was clearly printed on the tickets that outside food and drinks were not allowed. I debated the issue with the owner but was told we were misinformed over the phone. My wife and I decided not to ask for a refund, but we did bring along a few bottles of water, some sliced watermelon, and one bag of potato chips in a bag. It was our plan to ask permission to take the items in when we got there. What a chaotic day it turned out to be! We had to park in the neighborhood and walk in because all of the parking spaces had been sold separately. We were told not to come before 1pm to set out chairs, yet when I arrived at one oclock many chairs and shade tents had been set up all over the lawn. No one checked for tickets throughout the day. We heard that people were calling friends and family members and telling them to come on down because tickets werent being checked. Many people showed up with bags of food and ice chests and were never questioned. The bar ran out of sodas by 5pm and hamburgers and hotdogs by 6pm. The bathrooms were filthy and hot and most stalls were without toilet paper throughout the day. Paper towels were never provided (even after numerous complaints). As sunset approached the crowd grew. Those who bought tickets for the pool at $15 each had to deal with hundreds of people being allowed in the area because there was never a person to check for tickets there. We heard from a person who bought tickets for the meal (at $35 a ticket) that the room was warm, there was a long wait for food, and some people had to eat with their fingers because the restaurant ran out of silverware. Some also had to settle for tri-tip when the caterers ran out of prime rib. It was all so crazy and unreal! By nightfall hundreds of people were crowded around us to watch the fireworks. Some were drunk and smoking cigarettes and pot. Once again, we saw no one there to supervise the crowd. By the time the fireworks began I feared for the safety of the many children in the crowd. Needless to say, we will never again support this local establishment while under the management of the present owner.

The 4th of July event that the golf course put on was an absolute joke. The owner ripped so many people off with a promise of food which was never delivered, and AC which was broken. We paid extra for a "VIP" ticket which promised dinner and a reserved table, neither of which were delivered. While I paid for my tickets, many people just walked in without paying. There was very limited security if any, and the event was extremely unorganized. I feel terrible for the people that had to work this event. Whoever owns this establishment should be ashamed to face the people they ripped off. When a family member called to try and have there money refunded they were basically called a liar, and told that there would be no refunds. I will state that in my frustration during the event I was able to receive a refund, and I encourage anyone who had this same experience to continue fighting for their money back. This event was an absolute joke.

I worked there in 2002 and the owners they were great people and boss. But there was a chief that had a problem with costumers coming in when we would just be about taking the last inserts out. The costumers would walk through the doors and the chief boy would start getting loud a nouph that the costumers could hear him. I was just thankful that I had more costumers to please. At the next employee meeting I addressed it by telling the owner to have little baby boy be happy with the costumers and to Quit breaking glasses that it comes out of the over head are fire me are I Quit well he did not fire me and he did not tell baby boy. But I did and if he had a problem I lived 1 block away and I walk by his house every day. Well I ended up leaving before the meeting ended.

THE worst golf course I have ever played on by a long shot. The manager acted like he was cutting a deal for us to play there for 18 holes. After playing 9 holes we decided this course wasnt for us. During the 9 holes played we were yelled at by who I assume is a greens keeper that we are " driving on the greens". It is tough to tell where the greens meet the fairway let alone the rough even but I can assure you that this was not the case. After going back in to try and retrieve our money he told us that he was the one doing us a favor in letting us play for so cheap yet we could get the same deal on golf now. The management was disrespectful and seemingly childish. Would not recommend to anyone even if you dont take golf seriously.

Gorgeous setting with a fantastic view of the lake . I have been to a wedding at the event center. The wedding was preformed on the grass with the stunning view of the lake in the background. The reception was held afterwards In the Event Center were they served excellent food. A memorable event. I highly recommend the Event Center for your wedding, anniversary, party or any event for your organization. I have not played golf on the golf course so I dont know much about that except that it has a beautiful view of the lake.
