I have been a regular patron since the theaters early days; I have extolled the quality of your productions and have frequently organized groups of my friends to attend. I did exactly that last Saturday night and a group of eight of us attended the evening performance. I was terribly disappointed and embarrassed that after my praising 1St Stage so highly to my friends the show was so disappointing. I must question the judgement of the play selection committee. The play was hardly entertaining and if the purpose was to send some intellectually challenge message to the audience even the message was confusing. Was this a failed attempt to cater to intellectual betterment? If that was the case please so advise us in advance and I , for on, will skip that show.

Like Tysons Tom, I too have been excited about the quality of the presentations at 1st Stage and was initially disappointed with the last play, Trevor. But I stayed for the talkback with Alex Levy and left with a different view of why this play was chosen. Since then, I have thought of the play many times as I have witnessed parents unable to see their children as others see them and stuck in their denial of what is happening. I do not think this play adequately made a clear case for what the director thought it could be about but I had more understanding of why this play was chosen. It certainly was well acted.

This is a precious theater. Tastefully decorated, with a pleasant reception area and a hallway for art exhibitions. All the productions we have seen here have been of high quality, thoroughly enjoyable. We are lucky to have this resource in our area.
