Ive been in theaters throughout the world. Some good some bad. One in Cambodia used plastic chairs. I will say in that one I only paid 1.00 to see a movie there. I guess since you pay 10.50 per ticket you should expect more. Well dont. The plastic chairs were more comfortable than the Alamo drafthouse Westlake. They spent a lot of money recovering the chairs and getting them embroidered that they forgot about the comfort for the guests. Ive sat in rollercoaster cars with more comfort. My knees were hurting after the first hour. The screen had lines in it and looked old. And for what ever reason the screen was offset from the seating. Follow me here, the walkway down the rows was on the left side of the room, the screen was lined up on the left side of the wall in the back of the room, this is due to the fact that the emergency door is also at the back of the room lined up with the right side of the screen and wall. The seating was pushed as far to the right as it could be, so watching it you had to turn your head to the left otherwise if you are seated in the center or the to the right and are facing strait you get to see an exit door and the right side of the screen. You cant get comfortable. The server was good the people were nice and the food was not bad just very over priced. Over priced drinks were good too. I will say I was very disappointed. After going to the ones in Austin and loving them, this theater felt more like a dollar theater for outgoing movies not new releases. I wont be going back.

Ive been going to see movies here for about 4 years plus and I always get great service. Ive never had a rude waiter here. Sometimes it seems they can be a bit understaffed but it doesnt happen regularly for me. The selection and prices on food and snacks and drinks are reasonable and Id rather pay for the bottomless popcorn here than for 1 tub at other theaters. The milkshakes are tasty, and I really enjoyed the free pizza I received as part of the victory rewards program on my last visit especially since It was free and just showed up in my redemptions out of the blue. You also get a free movie pass on your birthday which is valid for a month which is kudos for me. They do take the no talking/texting rule are late arrival seriously which is awesome, and feel its a good policy for people who love to go to the movies and are really there to enjoy it. Last time some idiots got into smacks and ruined the climax of the movie we were watching and the staff took care of it immediately. Who goes to a movie to start a fight??? Anyways, they made sure the police hauled off the animal. No one else was hurt and at least the situation was taken care of quickly. In summation, its a great theater for people who love to watch movies. They have a lot of cool movies other theaters dont show, competitive prices on food, and a good atmosphere. They dont have the best screens or sound systems and the ambience is a bit rustic, however it still ends up being a great movie going experience.

We wanted to take our boys to watch a kid movie and enjoy some good pizza instead of the other boring Theatre food. We have 3 boys and my husband works a lot, so most weekends we try to cram lots of family time into a few hours. Our youngest is a little over a year old, a 3 yr old and 9 yr old. My compliant is about the age policy, 3yrs and up, only before 6pm. I have an issue with the age only, everything else is a wonderful idea. I would hope that you would take into consideration changing that, to any age. We love the Drafthouse, but hate this policy, it makes no sense to me. ( my kids are accustomed to being respectful in a theater and if they are loud, I walk out) I understand that not all parents are considerate, but like your "policy states - we will ask you to leave." Also, not all parents are able to take advantage of your "baby days", not everyone has Tuesdays off. Imagine how much more money the Drafthouse would bring in, if this policy was changed. I would hope that more familys would write in a complaint about it. I have no issue with the time restraints, I would not want to hear a grouchy child on my date night. (I am sure to those patrons who do not have children my review is malarkey.)

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and it is a pretty fun experience. The food is only average at best, so if youre looking for a really nice dinner and movie, youll probably want to go somewhere else for the meal. However, the food is not bad, its just not great. It is a good, casual place for a date or a night out with a group of friends. I would advise against getting their popcorn; I have definitely had better theater popcorn before. But, that is not their specialty, so its not a big deal in my opinion. The waitstaff is pretty good; the first time we went, I ordered a soda on last call (the last time they let you order before the movie ends) and it was never brought out, but we werent charged for it either, so we didnt say anything. Other than that, the waitstaff has always been good. I agree with the other reviewers who say that its nice that there are no kids allowed except for certain showings. There are LOTS of theaters in San Antonio so parents should have no problem finding one to bring their family to. All in all, as far as restaurants go, Id give this a 3 star as the food is average; overall experience Id say is closer to a 4 star since its unique and fun.

Terrible service. Went to see a movie on a Sunday evening. We didnt have an issue purchasing the tickets from the cashier, but when we walked into the theatre me and my gf were told to "hold up a minute they have a bone to pick with us". Then some guy walks up to me and says that policy doesnt allow us to sit down once the movie has started. Mind you we have food and drinks with us. The whole experience sucked. I would understand if they would have told me in the front cashier instead of letting me purchase the tickets, get food and drinks, then ambush us like were in middle school. To me it doesnt make sense because at all drafthouses you have workers walking around talking and taking orders with flashlights, its kind of silly. I had to eat and drink at the bar while watching sport center instead of the movie we had planned to see. They need to get there things together. I personally felt disrespected, two boys walked us out like theyre body guards which was the cherry on top. Used to frequent this theatre often but will never return!

Arrived early as recommended in email. Followed Big lighted signs that show what number theater the movie would be playing and next to that big lighted number were big lighted words that say NOW SEATING. When I get to the door I open it and this rude young lady is standing there saying the room is not ready. We wait outside for literally 45sec then she comes out and says its now ready. As I try to explain to her the reason why we walked in was because the TWO signs that lead us there said NOW SEATING. So she blames the signs for being off and walks away. Now what is the point of having signs if they are not working correctly. I mean can I only pay for half of this movie and give you an excuse that I cant pay in full because my credit card is off? Was I even at Alamo Draft House or was that sign off too? The only person that was off was this rude young lady that lacks in customer service! So if you arrive at this upside down place early watch out for the rude young lady behind that door as you open it.
