The Bellevue 8 is an average, if dated movie theater. Its neither a destination experience, nor is it a second rate/discount theater. I am unsure, but I would wager it was constructed in its freestanding building somewhere between 1989 and 1993. Now that it is 2012, the building could use updating. The movie experience itself...The Bourne Legacy, was fine...the $5.50 matinee is hard to beat! I believe it was in digital projection...always a plus given the costs of projection equipment, although the colors and sound needed some adjustment, but that was not a serious problem...something a manager could have tweaked. Some of the screens had stadium seating...some seats were constructed in stadium fashion, the rest were on sloping floors, but I am unsure if all 8 screens are stadium seating. The screen I was in could hold at least 200 people at a time! But that is where the praise ends. While I dont hate the theater, I just was not moved by it. The buildings facade is old, plain, and therefore unimpressive. If I had not already known that this theater was here, a person could drive right past it without noticing. It does not have a Marquee sign on Highway 70S, nor does the building have an eye-catching architectural theme or motif...no neon lights, or other decoration (aside from a red stripe)...it is just a simple two-tone brickwork building, with the standard Carmike Logo above the entrance. The day I went, they were not using the ticket booths...I had to go directly to the concession stand to buy my ticket. The lobby/concessions area was rather small and cramped. The concessions selection was minimal: popcorn, sodas, and candy...nothing fancy. The rest rooms were small, 1-2 stalls and 1-2 sinks...not a good sign after a crowded movie exits, although they had RR on both sides of the lobby area, and they were handicapped accessible. As it is now the sole movie theater in the Western Davidson County area, after the closure of the Regal 12 Cinemas following the 2010 Flood, lack of competition keeps the Carmike company from significantly investing in this neighborhood theater. Given its age, and location, Carmike probably owns this building outright and it is highly probable that Carmike only keeps the Bellevue 8 open to keep another movie theater from opening in the region. For people looking for a true destination movie experience, go to Green Hills or Franklin, TN, but for people who just want to watch a movie, this is the place to go, especially if you are on a limited budget. I will attend movies here only if I am not that excited about them...large special FX movies I will attend elsewhere. My suggestion would be for Carmike to convert this theater in a discount theater, because it would not be worth the cost to upgrade it, and it would appeal to a market that is missing in Middle Tennessee entirely...the discount movie theater market. Good Luck!

The Google reviews almost scared me off, but I wanted to see "The Force Awakens" and I didnt want to deal with crowds of people. I gave it a chance. Prices were the same as any movie theater. The theater itself is rather small, and I had to order tickets from the snack bar. I was getting a sinking feeling at this point. I had just been to a theater in Green Hills and it wasnt great. My concerns mounted when i entered the theater for the movie. I could hear the sounds from the movie next door and the picture on the screen was small. I almost panicked at this point because I am PICKY AS HELL about movie theaters. Then, the previews and movie started. They apparently switched to a much higher res source, because the projection suddenly took up the full screen, and surround sound replaced the sounds we heard from the next movie over. Ive been to a lot of movie theaters in my life. This one is up there. Its not on top. Not by far. However, the lack of a crowd, great picture and awesome sound took it home for me. Ive been living in Bellevue for 8 months (lived in PA, NJ for 12 years before that and Dickson TN for 18 years before that) and Ive gone to the movies a LOT...Philly suburbs in particular had some epic theaters This theater was great. I loved it. Will definitely go to again (until the new theater is built a mile from my house at One Bellevue Place.) Did it have stadium seating? Actually, it did somewhat. It was a lot smaller and more intimate than a huge 20-30 screen theater. Did that subtract from the experience? No. Not at all.

When the Regal Bellevue theater closed because of the 2010 flood, I started going to the Bellevue 8. Pluses: 1. Super Matinee (4-5 PM each day) prices. When I go, I almost always go then for the savings. 2. Popcorn bucket. I go enough times per year to make this a good deal. 3. Friendly staff. A lot of the same workers have been there over the years, and I appreciate their hard work and friendliness. 4. Carmike Rewards program for free stuff like tickets, popcorn, and drinks (though Regal has their own). 5. Close by and easy parking. My main alternative is Green Hills, and I live in Bellevue. I definitely prefer the short drive here. Minuses: 1. Have to buy/get tickets at the concession stand. Not everyone wants popcorn or drinks, so this can make ticket buying slow. If you pre-buy on Fandango, you have to go through these lines to redeem it. 2. Older theater. I still like the seats, but it just feels a lot older than Green Hills or the Carmike in Cool Springs. Overall, I do recommend this theater, and it is located near a lot of restaurants, if you want to make it a date night.

Avoid this theater. If you have the chance, please go to another theater. Youd think with all the influx of attendance when the Regal flooded, that this theater might start investing in upgrades, but they seem to refuse to. I went to see a movie there two weekends ago and got rained on during the movie, you can tell this was a pre-existing condition as the ceiling tile was missing where the rain was dripping down. I went yesterday as I got free tickets from the rain incident. There was no pre-movie entertainment, just awkward silence in the movie theater until 5 mins after the movie was supposed to start when they finally started previews. The surround sound is pretty much nonexistent and both movie screens, two weekends ago and this one, had major flaws on them (looks like tears in the screens). This place refuses to invest in improvements, even though you know they got a boost in profits when the Regal flooded. Please go to a real theater as at this one you may get stuck watching your movie in the smallest theater youll ever see.

Worst theater Ive ever been to. I go to this theater because it is close to my house and I can be there in 5 minutes but every time I have gone, something bad happens. Ive had the picture cut out in multiple movies, including having Iron Man 2 reset in the middle and recently (and my final visit) 50/50 cut out about half way through and they had to refund our money. Other times I have been, there was no A/C. Another time, I planned to go to a movie at the times they had listed on Fandango and when I got there the movie times were completely off and they said that "their computers didnt update the times" which means someone forgot to go in and do it. And yet another time I went there on the weekend and "their power was out" which was ironic considering I saw lights on in the building. To sum it up, just dont go here, go to the one at Green Hills - it is worth the extra drive.
