Not a bad movie place at all. The selling point of this theater is of course the ticket price. A ticket anytime of the day is $2.19 (it was $2, I can live with a 19 cent raise!). So, for me to take my family of 5 to go see a recent release at the local Regalia (not its actual name) would cost for a regular viewing at $12.99 per ticket (as of 4/20/2017) almost $65 BEFORE popcorn and a few drinks. So, by buying 5 tickets for $2.19 it is cheaper than buying 1 ticket at the Regalia (again not its actual name). Do not expect to have all of the snacks that you would have at the local Regalia but they do have great bargains on popcorn and popcorn combos. You can purchase a popcorn bucket that you can refill for a year for a very reasonable price and the drinks are well priced for this type of venue. The theater itself has digital projection and good sound system. The layout is typical mid 80s setup which is fairly flat, with no stadium sitting. You do have a chance of someone taller than you sit in front of you and block your view. But since I have never been to a sold out show here, it is very easy to pick up your stuff and move over. Seats are fairly comfortable and there is a cup holder on the arm rests. The auditoriums are fairly clean and bathrooms are in decent shape. The staff that I have come in contact with are pretty nice with no complaints. There is no external ticket booth and you buy your tickets and refreshments all with the same transaction. The lobby is fairly small so if it is a Friday or Saturday show you could get a bunch of people stacked inside. Even though I do not see any security, I have not seen any unruly kids hanging outside. Overall I would give the place a solid A. It is not the most glamorous place and it is pushing around 30+ years of existence. But, it has a great value and the overall experience is pretty good. If you are looking for the latest and greatest this is not for you. But, if you have a family or just want to catch the afternoon movie without taking a loan, this place is for you!

Despite what other people might say about this place, this theater is very nice and a super deal! Yes the neighborhood is a little dead (the mall is pretty much closed down) and Antioch has a bad rep, but I didnt feel unsafe at all. The theater is clean and the concession stand has some great deals. The ticket price ($2) cant be beat, the screens are fine, the film quality is standard for any theater. The seats are fine, the floors are clean, etc. The staff is very safety conscience, and this didnt bother me. I recently went to this theater right after the tragedy in Aurora, CO, and the staff did ask to check peoples bags, but Im fine with that. I had bottled water with me since it was so hot outside, and they didnt care. I even brought with me a seat cushion because I have a hard time sitting too long, and they were cool with that. Love this place - they have my business for a long time!

EDIT: I wrote this before the theater was an AMC. It may still be great, but I havent been able to go since then. Im not the type to only rate a 1 or a 5 - Id give 3 or 4 stars if I thought it didnt deserve 5. But it does. Missed out on paying $12+ to see that blockbuster from a few months ago? Catch it here before it hits DVD/BluRay for $2 instead. No, this is not the prettiest theater in town, but if you dont care about how attractive the lobby and concession counter look, youll never beat the bang for your buck here for a big-screen movie. I was skeptical that the price would be offset by a poor experience the first time I went, but I was pleasantly surprised and have been back many times. Havent ever had a bad experience here, or any problem that I havent had at any other movie theater.

PARENTS BEWARE: First of all, I am rating the experience we just had this past weekend. We have gone many times over the years and always had a great experiences until this past weekend. We took our child to a rated PG13 movie last Saturday. At first, the previews were normal, and could be seen by any audience. Then, to our surprise, they began to show a preview that included multiple curse words, including the "F" word, "MF", and "GD". We were then showed explicit sexual scenes and nudity. We were horrified. We had no idea what was happening until it was too late. I have seen many rated R movies and have never seen such a preview at any movie theater at anytime. I plan to write to the upper management of Carmike to further express my displeasure.

I went to see Divergent on Sunday. As I entered the theater, the first thing I noticed was the uncleanliness. There was popcorn on the floor, drinks still in the cup holders and the floors were ridiculously sticky. To add to the uncleanliness as I set down, the seat was covered with vomit. I didnt seat in it but I warned the other patrons about the vomit. While I enjoyed the movie and I was bubbling over to tell management. I didnt because I didnt see any presence. No one even tore my stub, I could have went to any movie. I digress. Id probably go again just because its so affordable, but that doesnt mean we should have to enjoy a movie in filth.

So News Flash if you didnt know: AMC bought this from Carmike and killed the $2 movie experience we all knew and loved. Sad. It was a good thing while it lasted and fun place to see movies that just went out of the big theater. Our family of five used to go there a lot and spent around $20 total for drink, popcorn (the bucket) and movie tickets. Now with the AMC takeover, its their "Classic" series of theatres at $4.99 per ticket before 4pm for adults and children, but after 4pm Adults only go to $6.99. The plus to this is cheaper new movies. They get new movies every week. So you win some and you lose some.

For the price, its okay. They still need some security though. A guy was in line with a big back pack on. I heard someone ask if back packs were allowed, and they said no. The lady pointed to the guy with the back pack and they told him he had to leave it at the front desk. The same guy was in the movies with me and he fell asleep and snored like a monster. He must have just wanted shelter for a little while because he wasnt at all interested in the movie. May have been homeless. It made me uncomfortable. They got to beef up security, and maybe do some rounds periodically throughout the individual theaters.

1 star for $2 tickets. One of the female employees was a complete ass. My friend went with me & my kids and we all waited in line to get popcorn & drinks. She waited on him but then went to the back to do something & grabbed a mop, which nothing was spilled behind the counter, so we had to get in another line & as soon as someone started taking our order she was like "can I help someone?" Then it took them FOREVER just to get a popcorn & 2 drinks!!! That employee that decided to go get the mop needs to go clean the restroom & make herself useful. The bathrooms are nasty.
