This place is making a poor attempt to be a venue for nationally known musicians. It is essentially a small bar and a small stage not much bigger than my living room...this may be appropriate for local and regional acts, but does not have the space or know how to host nationally known acts. Saw a well known blues artist here a couple days ago and although the band was fantastic, the cafes soundman had no idea how to run the board, making a great band sound awful. The small cafe was oversold, and many patrons had to stand thru the whole show. Place also isnt subject to the PA no smoking law. Again, this is fine and even expected for a small blues bar hosting local or lesser known acts, but if youre going to host a well known musician, you should know what youre doing and respect the band and their fans! Talked to the artist after the show, dont think he was too happy about the situation, either! Suggest contacting the folks at Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA if you want to learn how to run a quality small music venue. Doubt Ill be back even if someone I like is going to be there. I have attended probably over 1,000 shows over the years every place from arenas to small clubs, and this was one of the worst. Is a shame that Pgh still doesnt have a good space for smaller shows.

One little thing and you cant look the other way. Especially for a long time patron and so called friend. You could have just been nice about it and said you know your not allowed to do that and I would have apologized But, no leeway whatsoever. Youve been bird doggin me and waiting for your moment to make a big deal about anything. Just to be mean to me while in your power spot. You used to have fun and were nice while still doing a good job. I guess those days are over.

Please, theres no excuse in the 21st century for a place like this to continue to willingly force non-smoking customers to inhale toxic, cancer-causing tobacco smoke into their lungs simply to see live music. Stop catering to the few morons left in this city who choose to smoke. Go smoke-free. Hate to see an important venue such as this lose customers simply because of the smoke.

I love the Thunderbird! The food and beer are amazing. The staff are friendly and its a great place to see a smaller band. I just wish it wasnt a smoking place. It sucks to come home smelling like an ashtray when youre a non-smoker!

Great bar food. Im a fan of their black bean burger. The venue is a well known show space and is about to expand to the building next door. Will be interesting to see what the future holds for the good ol T-bird.

Good music and decent food, but it tends to be very smoky (especially near the sound mixer) and the small floor space in front of the stage is too crowded for a lot of bands.

The food was not great my wifes first chicken sandwich was burnt to a crisp. The second one was not burnt but also not fully cooked. The beer and wings were good though.

One of my favorite concert venues! This is a small place, but you can grab a beer, play some pool, and hear some solid acts. I love visiting when I can.

Ive only ever been here for shows. The beer list is OK. The establishment as a venue isnt ideal, but manages for intimate entertainment.

I liked the T-Bird. Wait, is it still open? Is it just closing for renovations or for good? SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON

The T-bird was my favorite five bar in Pittsburgh. Its undergoing renovations now and worried that itll never be the same.

Good live music and drink specials. Be careful of Mike the bartender, he carries a switch blade, just kidding, its a comb.

Nice place to see a show. The music, atmosphere, and sound are always A+. They get a nice variety of music also.

Great place for live music. Beer prices are reasonable for a place like this. Cover is normally 10 bucks.

Packed and shockingly expensive beer. I think a Southern Tier 2X was like $7.
