Just got my first season pass this year. At $50 it was the same as two admission tickets, and Ive already went enough to make it worthwhile (with 2 months of summer left easily). Rather than review the park - Ive been going my whole life and Im too biased - Ill tell you what you should know before going. 1) DONT BUY ANYTHING THERE! This includes towels, sunscreen, camera, food, beverages, etc. You will already have to pay $6 just to park, and if you bring anything with you, $5 for a locker ($3 for season pass holders, whoo.). Buying any of the aforementioned items will set you back about $10 each (maybe $20 for towel/camera), while you could drive less than a mile from the park to Target and buy everything there. 2) Since youre not buying anything there, BE PREPARED for a long day in the sun. Sunscreen shouldnt be mentioned, if you forget that you deserve to pay $15 at the park for it. Youre going to get dehydrated, so bring lots of water (their fountain is warm and almost undrinkable). Running around outside will work up an appetite too so take advantage of the fact that each person can bring a meal in a bag. Bag inspections at the gate are pretty lax, so you can even try bringing your own booze :) 3) Check the weather! The park wont close for rain (though sometimes if not enough people show up they close "due to inclement weather"), but it will be forced to close for lightning. Check the forecast in DETAIL - just cause it says 50% chance of rain, that could mean "starting after 5pm". Also even if it does rain, are you afraid of getting wet at a waterpark?! 4) Watch the lines. This will be hard to understand unless youve seen the park, but the entrances to all the slides (except 1-2) are lined up together in a neat row. If all of them are backed up and LOOK even, make sure you dont get in one whose corresponding slide is very far away. The best example is the speed slide - the walk to the slide is practically a quarter-mile from the entrance to it. 5) HAVE FUN Hope this helps someone get the most out of their trip

Last summer, I went to almost every waterpark in Pennsylvania, and reviewed them all. Sandcastle is average - not horrible like Wildwater Kingdom, and not exceptional like Camelbeach. The rides at Sandcastle, with the exception of the spectacularly tall orange and yellow body slides, are nothing special. They are slow and very similar to each other. Even though there are three or four of many of the slides, the experience on each is the same despite having different turns. The ride that drops riders into the pool isnt much better than what could be done with a diving board. The buffet was horrible. Avoid the package deal at all costs. The park advertises that its all you can eat, but there was very little selection and what was available was tasteless. On the other hand, the wave pool was the best of all the parks I visited. The waves generated in the pool are absolutely huge, and there werent constant stoppages for non-safety related issues like lost jewelry as occurred at other parks. The staff, while not going out of their way, were cordial and certainly not mean like the employees at Dorney Park. All in all, you get what you pay for. Sandcastle is the cheapest of the parks I visited, and its probably worth the money even if its not exceptional. Since the far superior Camelbeach is the same distance away from my house in State College, I probably wont return to Sandcastle. If you live further west and Camelbeach is too far away, then Sandcastle is worth at least a day pass.

When we arrived at the park on Thursday we were disappointed that Cliffhangers, one of our favorite slides was closed. Shortly after the park opened we went to Blue Tubbalubba only to find the line already to the bottom of the steps and not worth the long wait. This slide has two tubes, but only one was being operated for most of the day. Why? Around 2:00 pm this slide closed completely for approx. 30 minutes making the lines for all of the other slides even longer. How ridiculous to have the two most popular slides closed at the same time. I dont mind paying the cost of admission or for the exorbitant cost of the food, but at least give us our moneys worth. I guess profit comes first for Sandcastle. I doubt that we will return. To make matters worse, they blared Country and Western music ALL DAY from the sound system. Holy cow. Why not throw in some Pop or Alternative rock seeing as how the majority of the customers are teenagers ?

The only reason I didnt give Sandcastle 5 stars is because as I have season passes if I were paying daily admission of 34.20 I would be mad bc the park is only open until 5 pm through June then 6 after. I think a water park should stay open until at least 8 pm it is still daylight and and Kennywood stays open until 10 or 11. there is much to do at this park and not enough time in the day. My kids and I love coming here but when I was younger it stayed open later, They had the hot tub and the bar area stayed open for adults until 1am. with a dj and fun drinks. this needs to change or they need to lower their prices 6 hours is not worth the daily admission price. Also after Memorial day it should be open daily not the middle of June. I understand kids have school but most people work weekdays until 4 or 5 I noticed the crowd has been declining that may be the reason. It should have been PACKED opening day and it wasnt there was no lines.

Sandcastle is a great place to visit if you like water attractions. It has a phenomenal wave pool, a great lazy river, water slides and body slides of all types, and then it has 3 other pools. A mushroom pool with a big mushroom in it that pours water over the top for you to lounge in or swim, a tad pool for really little kids and babies with their parents to enjoy, and finally Wet Willies for children that are to big for the pool, but not quite ready for the mushroom pool. They have plenty of chairs and lounge chairs throughout the facility for you to relax and sun bathe in. The pools and slides have plenty of lifeguards on duty for everyones safety. They have changing rooms to shower and change clothes in. They have locker rentals and they have plenty of places to get food and drink. Did you forget something water or sun related then their gift shop most likely has it. Well worth the admission!!

I havent been to sandcastle since the 90s. So thought was a good idea to visit. Sadly to see my childhood water park hasnt done any improvement but gotten worse. They took away the misting fans that kept people and the sidewalks cool from the sun. I dont know if theyre financially unable to get more tubes for everyone one but thats a big problem. Spend almost half hour waiting for a tube then have to wait in line for another half hour. I dont think the park can withstand the capacity of people because you cant enjoy the lazy river without having to get up on the first round so other people can get a turn. It wasnt that busy either. The wait for food is another story. I waited in line for an hour just to get fries and water. There isnt no adult areas or adult pools. The price is too expensive for little to offer. Sad to say this will be my last visit to sandcastle.
