I attended the WWE Royal Rumble on 1/27/14. My first impression when I got to the stadium was "this is a stadium?" This place doesnt even look like a stadium from the outside, which could be good or bad depending upon what you want out of a stadium. I would have liked it to at least look that part of a stadium, not a shopping mall. The doors were scheduled to open at 6:30, but they opened the doors 20 minutes late (at least at the American Eagle entrance). This is on a night that it was 20 degrees without factoring in the wind chill. And an event that had many small children attending. Dont publish a door time if you arent going to honor it. The way they do crowd control is abysmal. Ten entrance doors that funnel into four lines for security? How did anyone think this was a good idea. Another problem with this stadium is the layout. Who makes a stadium where you have to go up two flights of steps just to get to the concourse? And then having to bottleneck everyone on the concourse to check tickets? Thats just dumb. The upper bowl has steps that are so steep Im honestly surprised no one has fallen to their death yet. The seats themselves are adequate. Similar to many other stadiums I have been in. But there was a severe lack of legroom. Im 61 and couldnt sit with my feet flat footed out in front of me because there wasnt enough room. The concession stands are not nearly plentiful enough. Most stadiums will have a bank of stands where theres 10-15 lines at any given time. Having a queue line for concessions? Bad move, and makes everything take longer than it has to. The concessions I could say are overpriced, but thats what being a captive audience is about. They can charge what they want because people will pay it. What is odd about the concessions (at least to me) is that they dont have either of the major players in the soft drink industry. RC Cola is the soda of choice here. Overall, this is a below average place to see an event. The building really doesnt excel at anything, and the odd layout sours you when you walk through the doors.

Saw Bruce Springsteen 10/27/2012; and have been to numerous penguin games in the past. The normaly overall experience and facilities at the CONSOL are great. This review is for whoever makes the STUPID decisions about what can go into CONSOL, and also the rude, discriminatory individuals that enforce those decisions. The gates for the show on 10/27/12 were scheduled to open at 6:30 pm. I checked the website and saw that cameras were not being allowed into the venue, so I left mine at home. I got to the CONSOL @ 6pm, and had to stand outside, in the pouring down rain until 6:40 pm, when they decided to continue letting people into the lobby. I have been to enough Pens games to know that they always open the gates and allow people to stand in the lobby, especially in adverse weather conditions. Then, I was informed that I was not permitted to take my umbrella beyond the front doors???? Are you kidding me? As I stated, it was pouring down rain, the weather forecast called for continued increased rain, and CONSOL energy center management decided no umbrellas. Then, the same guy that would not let me past the front doors with my umbrella; let a group of women / girls in all carrying umbrellas. When I confronted him, he just repeated to me “no umbrellas” and smiled. It gets better, they had no arrangements made to check umbrellas, and people were told to just leave them in a pile by the front door. Guess what, after the concert, all of the umbrellas were gone from the front doors, and the remaining CONSOL energy workers around the door acting like they didn’t know what people were talking about when they asked where their umbrellas were. Way to drop the ball CONSOL, public relations and customer service are certainly not your strong suits!!!

I had an opportunity to go watch NHL while I was visiting Pittsburgh in May. We had seats at one of their suites, which is always a great experience. I have only seen NHL game from a regular seats, so this was going to be very exciting! The arena was right in downtown, easily accessible. Legends Suites comes with food and drinks. They had nice lounge area with comfy seats, counter seats facing the arena, and of course, stadium seating as well. They had water, beer, and soda cans in the refrigerator. If you want to drink something different, like some wines, we could simply request them to the staff in charge of our suite. The staffs were very attentive and nice. They had some food prepared on the counter, such as fruits, subs, chips and flat bread. It is not the best food out there in the world, but with the awesome suite experience, food is not the main focus. Watching the game from such relaxing, fancy spot is the focus. One thing was that their suite did NOT come with a bathroom. The bathroom was located right outside of the suite, and you must have your ticket with a bar code in order to come back in. There was a scanner right by the door on the outside, where you simply scan your ticket, and the door unlocks. However, a really cool gift that is included in this suite is their team, Penguin hat for everyone. I certainly got my yellow Penguin hat, really cute! This was a fun experience, we had a totally exciting time here watching the game while lounging, drinking and eating. Read my full review of the suite and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

PPG Paints Arena is the formerly named Consol Energy Center. It is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Pittsburgh that is the home to the Pittsburgh Penguins. I have been here for Penguins games, and more recently, Disney on Ice. I will focus on the more recent Disney visit for my review. We were there for the 7 pm Saturday night show, and access through security was very quick, easy, and they were very nice. I suggest not taking any bulky bags that take time to search. The facility is clean and signs to guide you to your seat are clearly marked. As adults who went without kids, we did want to have an alcoholic beverage, but they were difficult to locate. We found one snack stand selling beer in Penguins cups for $10 a cup. I realize since it was a childrens show, alcohol would not be in abundance. I took one star off the review because the bathrooms are not clearly marked in every location. I am someone who does not like to be stuck in traffic. Therefore, I traveled from the South Hills (Library station) to Steel Plaza station (closest T station to PPG Paints arena) and walked the remaining distance (about 10 minutes). It is a very easy mostly level walk from the train station. PPG Paints arena is one of my more favorite venues due to its proximity to mass transit, cleanliness, and ease of access through security.

Dun was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Laura, a hospice social worker, and Bill, a physical therapy assistant.[6] He grew up with two sisters, Ashley and Abigail, and a brother, Jordan. Growing up, he was a self-taught drummer.[7]He started with taking trumpet lessons at school, but he was "never awesome at it". The lessons only taught him how to read it rather than create his own music with it. He then turned his attention to drums and taught himself how to play them, because he believed at the time "somebody else teaching me how to play an instrument... was kind of prohibiting me from being creative".[8] According to Dun, he would skateboard down to the local music store, where he would purchase records and imitate the beats on an electronic drum kit.[9] His parents set strict rules on the type of music he was allowed to listen to, so instead he asked people at the store to recommend albums to him.[10][11] "Id hide albums like Green Days Dookie under my bed," Dun says. "Sometimes theyd find them and get real mad. Theyd find a Christian alternative, like Relient K, and make me listen to that."[12] Dun worked at Guitar Center for three years, during which time former Twenty One Pilots drummer Chris Salih was his co-worker.[13][14]
