Hmmm. We have frequented Hollywood beach for close to ten years. We were excited to see Margaritaville rise. We stayed for a night near Easter. It was a quick stay, so we decided to return without the kids. This time our stay was three nights and we realized a few things. The good: Location, location, location Hollywood beach is beautiful Beach chairs/umbrella and towels included. This is very convenient. Nice pools, great service at the pool. The Bad: No all inclusive option. Rude front desk person (guy) at check in. My husband attempted to make small talk. He wasnt having it. Asked for direct ocean front when we made the reservation two months out, but had a different room from what was expected once we got upstairs. We called (avoided the guy who checked us in) spoke to a much friendlier front desk lady who moved us to a direct ocean front room. The trade off was this room type is much smaller than the ocean front/pool view rooms. We dealt with it. We asked for direct. We got direct. Horrible cell phone signal and poor wifi. We use AT&T. Decent room but design if showers and sinks not user friendly. The water collects in the sink quickly and takes awhile to drain due to the sink design. If you have back issues beware. Our bed sunk down in the middle. We both woke up in agony daily. Pillows not at all firm if you prefer a firmer pillow bring your own. Shower is half open. No way to close it. Housekeeping left ONE washcloth during a daily cleaning. There were two people staying. Went down to one of the restaurants for brunch. Very overpriced for what you get. And being a 20 year retired veteran my husband ask about military discount. Our waiter said that it was in the works but they did not yet have the button on their register. He stated that he would ask the manager to give a 10 % discount anyway. He returns to the table looking defeated. He stated that his manager refused and gave him a hard time about 10 Percent which amounted to $5.We tipped him well. He tried. No big deal but at the same time wow. We preferred to self park after doing valet for our first stay. Valet is very slow due to demand. It was more convenient and a little less $$ to self park. My husband is from the area so we left each day to explore the area. The coffee shop was small. Crowded every morning with a very small area to utilize for adding creamer etc. to your coffee. Room service: couldnt be bothered to read back my order. And of course we ended up with the wrong dessert selection. This happened 1 of the two times that we used room service. We did have an excellent lady the other time. The beach is not as relaxing as it used to be. The secret is out. This is the downside of a resort like Margaritaville setting up residence. But hey. We are pretty open minded people. Lady dancing provocatively at the bar over the kiddie pool. Im all for a good party but not over the kiddie pool. Of course I know this is no fault of Margaritavilles. Speaking of bar: my Margarita tasted completely virgin. I rarely drink. If I cant taste the alcohol thats bad. On a good note the waitress was helpful and did bring a shot to add to the drink. We are not likely to return. We love Hollywood beach. We were very excited about this resort. But overall not that impressed. There are other options. We will explore them. For the price and resort status we did expect much better.

With so many choices in S. Florida, the catch here is the name and location. Located right on the beach (Hollywood), Margaritaville was a welcome treat for this once sleepy area. Previously known as a hangout area for older Canadian tourists....this hotel brought back younger life and locals. The public open-air concert stage that was once shut down (steps from the hotel) is back too with its live bands which can be clearly heard from the hotels bar/patio area. To be fair....the review below was for the overall feel. We did not stay overnight....just visited as guests. We are locals and wanted to check Margaritaville as a fun place to spend a day for the start of my daughters birthday weekend. I was thinking....well rent some cabanas (probably $500 each). Invite a small group.....let everyone order food and drinks and just enjoy the day before the real party. So we drove down to check it out. Nice greeting by valet. We walked in and decided to grab a bite. Interior is nice....alot of open space. Didnt find the atmosphere warm....very bright...but a nice, clean feel. We walked to the back....past the shops and saw some enclosed/gated areas. (Pool area) The cabana and pool area seemed nice but gated off....to prevent outsiders from using the pool area. ...a little enclosed feel...not the free, Key-West atmosphere I was expecting....but Ok...stepped up to the desk to get information about cabana rentals. My family and I wanted to get a taste of hanging out and renting a cabana for the day like we do at Miami Beachs Fontainebleau....but here at Margaritaville, you can only rent a cabana if you rent a room. Now thats perfectly ok....but additionally, each room provides access to only 4 guests regardless of cabana rental. So..for my daughters 10th birthday pre-party (say about 10 people) I would need to rent 3 Hotel rooms. (1 for every 4 people) ...at least 2 cabanas (Cabanas were less than I expected.....app $150 to $300 for each cabana....) So with resort fees and etc....about $2000 gone before I even have my 1st drink or any food. Hmmmm......I dont know. Its a nice place....but with no disrespect to the brand or the hotel.... it just isnt on that level. Nice place...but not designed to attract locals.....(too complicated) So going to head back to the Fontainebleau $1000 cabana.....come as you want....no gates....no waiting...open atmosphere... and cabana rentals dont require also renting a room. Overall..... Margaritaville is o.k. Bar service was very slow.....and they forgot my daughters dinner.....so we all shared our food until her food came. (about 20 minutes later) The best part of the experience was a young girl named Bianca who made balloon animals for my kids as we waited and waited for drinks....then waited and waited for food. Anyway....life is too short to complain ....grab some Landshark beer.....because Its 5 oclock somewhere. Good luck!

horrible concierge staff. Hugo & Adam were just horrible. we approached the concierge desk for info about "deep sea fishing" we are a family on a budge. they gave us a brochure for "sport fishing" charters, remind you like I said before we are a family on a budge. I did not want to much hundreds of dollars but Hugo & Adam instant we call this boat "lady Pamela" ,so we took a drive down to the boats, where we were greeted by this hyper gentleman named Mark, and a "tobacco" chewing crew member named Sean. We were told that there wasnt enough people to go fishing, & we should book a fishing trip right NOW for $500.00. please remember we did not want to go "sport fishing" we wanted to go "deep sea fishing" trust me I know the difference! As my wife and I spoke about the fishing trip & cost, we were hesitate about booking this fishing trip. So we declined, as I was standing there with my wife and family, there was a boat leaving the dock next door and my children wanted to know why we werent on that boat. The boat had at least 25 people on board. my family and I were so disgusted. We got in the car and drove back to the hotel, as soon as we got back to the hotel, I approached the concierge desk where I once meant Hugo & Adam, and I explained the situation and all Hugo could say to me is.. "well you have to understand sir, I was contracted by lady Pamela, Mr. David Ide (who owns the business) told me to only send the "fishing " business to them. and that he (Hugo & Adam) really dont know anything about the business. lets continue here, the next day I drove back down to the fishing boat (lady Pamela) and no one was in the office, so I walked next door (super sea legs) where I was greeted by a lovely lady name Amy, she gave us a brochure about "deep sea fishing" (in which we wanted to do in the first place) she explained to me what they offer, so I went back to the hotel, spoke to my wife, we discussed the prices & options. so now we are booked for tomorrow (10/2/15) on the Super Sea Legs. My kids are SUPER excited to go fishing. I will definitely post pictures of the fish and boat after our trip. so stay tuned :) p.s. I honestly think here, and this is my only opinion here, Hugo made a deal with the "devil" I personally think we was handed cash (in a envelope) to make people go to this horrible fishing/tobacco chewing place. I will never ask the concierge for any services again. Hugo is scary looking, not a friendly person. I will be calling corporate in the morning.
