Anyone claiming the view is great must have been there in in winter when the leaves are off, or they have never been there. The view is horrible when the brush is all greened up. Trains are completely hidden from view for almost all of the curve. They are only visible a very short time as they pass almost directly in front of the platform. Im pretty sure the view would be much better in winter or early spring, but forget about summer or fall when the leaves are on the 20 foot tall trees and brush. I have seen a better view of trains hundreds of other places. This is actually one of the worse spots I have visited.

For train buffs, this spot is one of a handful of places on a must visit list. There are lots of trains rolling by if you are lucky. While there are some downsides to the set up here, it is one of the few places where you can watch trains and photograph them where you can do so without fear of harrassment by police.

Great place to watch trains go by. You cant see much from the street level but when you go up to the viewing area youll see way better to both directions and full view around the curve itself. Also plenty of tables for a nice picnic while watching the trains.

On vacation here for 2 weeks. Wanted to see the curve by incline because my family member couldnt do the stairs. Incline wasnt working and hadnt been for a month, so far. Small gift shop, it had the basics. Bought a few post cards and left disappointed.

We were disappointed that the incline car was out of service, but we enjoyed watching several trains go through while we were there. The view is great and the historical information in the museum is interesting. My kids liked it.

Good place to sit and watch trains but costs $8 to get in. If your a railroad photographer the limited hours, fencing and people make it hard to get good shots. Its defiantly worth seeing with your own eyes at least once.

been there. the trees have grown so much you cant see a thing. The staff cant guess when the next train is due. Was very disappointed. .. took the train through. Pretty much the same thing. Ho Hum!

One of the best places in the US to watch trains. And once your done, you can go visit the PRR museum in Altoona, only a few miles away. I definitely recommend for anyone interested in trains.

Nothing to see unless you want to take a $6.50 ride up a very short incline railway. otherwise they have made the entire site inaccessible. total waste of time. big thumbs down.

Looks significantly better with the trees cut down. Its a great place for a train enthusiast or historian as this curve has a lot of history for being in the middle of nowhere.

Beautiful and historic railroad landmark. This engineering work finally put the portage railroad out of business, and saved hours, if not days, traveling over the mountains.

This is a nice morning/afternoon trip. The sloped elevator car is fun. The horseshoe itself is large and amazing to see. Very nice view from the top by the tracks.

The gift shop has a good selection of merchandise. The curve itself offers an amzing 180 degree view of trains traveling the curve. A must visit for railfans.

If your bored and want to be outside. Head here. Trains about 30 min apart. Sometimes youll see 2 or 3 at a time. Train lovers, this is a place for you!

Brought my parents here, which was the first time for all four of us, and the rail lift was out of service. We didnt know this until after we paid.

A must for Train/Transportation buff! Truly an engineering feat and more amazing that it was done WITHOUT computers and modern technology.

Beautiful, when I was there in 2013, I heard also up until 1981 there were four tracks and now there are three.

The best view of all of the curve and trains is on a recreational vehicle trail across the tracks in the woods.
