This review is for a one day experience at the Magic Kingdom for a family of four (two adults, 1 child and 1 toddler) I grew up watching and loving Disney classics and characters like most people. This was my first trip back to the park in 25 years when I was a young child. Price - 2 stars. Everyone likes to know that they got their "moneys worth" when they pay for something. Did we acheive this with a one day trip to the Magic Kingdom? -maybe. Almost $400 for two adults, one child And (toddler was free admission) is quite absurd. Especially when you consider that its almost impossible to experience everything you want too in a day and while we could have spent multiple days here, the price discount is not much less and I wasnt willing to spend almost a grand for admission alone. Not to mention, Disney "Milks Every Penny" that the company can from you. Parking alone $20 to $40, Souvenirs double the price that you will find outside the theme park, $50 for typical fast food quality meal for four, and lets not forget almost $40 for four plastic rain ponchos... $10 per poncho, an item that probably costs 25 cents to manufacture. Yes, Disney charged for every little thing that they could at the inconvenience of their customer. Dont expect this to change anytime soon unless attendance at their parks drop. Food - 2 Stars - We had some shakes and smoothies at Tomorrowland. We ate at the Harbor House and had less than average quality Mac and Cheese, Chicken Nuggets, Fries and Tuna Sandwich. Rides - 5 Stars - This why you come to the park right? To see Mickey and experience Peter Pans Flight, Small World, Space Mountain, and the Tea Cups. The absolute best attraction we experienced was Belles Enchanted Tale. It was fun to watch our kids act out Beauty and the Beast with Belle. Its great how Disney tries to also protect guests from the rain and sun as much as they can with coverage overhead while waiting. Staff - 3 Stars - Some cast members were super while others were rude. Im sure its a per person experience. Some college aged cast member barked at my four year kid about standing on a rail while I was safely standing beside him. While I understand the need for safety, "could you please step down off that rail" would have been more appropriate then raising your voice in frustration. Mickey and the characters were fantastic, especially the talking Mickey, very impressive and a great photo experience. Wait Times - 2 Stars - Its the largest theme park in the world. One can expect long ride times and fast pass+ experience helped but still, spending half your day line is not a magical experience and hopefully Disney continues to find ways to improve. The wprst experience was getting to the park from parking. It an hour to reach the gates at the Magic Kingdom, because of the slow Ferry Boats. Cool idea but far too slow, especially after a long day. The last thing anyone wants to do is take over an hour to get to their car from the gates of the theme park. This was the worst experience of the day. Will we go back. Yes, but will certainly not be too often as the rides and character experiences are fun but the price and wait times make this a once a decade vacation.

STANDBY - DONT BUY!! Following the move to make multiple fast passes available online instead of in park the standby line has trebled in time, making the cost per ride at about $55 each, not to mention the literally hours spent queuing. So unless you plan your trip and book the fast passes as far in advance as possible while there are still some available you will be in for an expensive, hot and frustrating day, and left feeling like a second class guest Part 2. After a one hour 40 minute wait for Splash Mountain we made it into a boat and set off. Turning the corner for the second minor drop we rammed into back of two stuck boats and were then rammed by two further boats. The ride was broken. Twenty minutes later at 8.30pm after being at Splash Mohntain two hours for NO ride we were led off by cast members and given a single-use fast pass, good for 24 hours! As we werent returning the following day we decided to use it on Space mountain and then catch the 9.30 pm show. On arrival at space mountain we entered the fast pass line and stopped halfway down the walkway at the end of the fast pass queue. There was a problem with the cars on the fast pass side. A further twenty minutes and we finally got to ride space mountain - our second ride in 6 Hours In the park!! We came out the ride to the biggest storm and a cancelled night show. Made our very wet way to the monorail and joined another queue, 40 minutes later and halfway up the ramp to the monorail it was announced a problem with the train and it had to be replaced. Finally got back to car after two rides in 8.5 hours, complete waste of a day in our lives. If you plan on buying at the door or using a visit from an already purchased, unexpired ticket as we did, dont bother. Every ten minutes theres another 50+ fast pass users increasing your wait in the standby line. MK is ok if you have under tens in your group and have pre-bought tickets with advance fast pass reservations, but for older children the rides are very limited in number, outdated and as seen on the day, unreliable. For older children and adult only groups MK is completely outclassed by the investment, innovative technology and value for money by Universal/IOA. With their comprehensive choice of rides and ride reliability the standby time is acceptable without having to purchase their express pass package. Giving an average ride cost in the region of $15 and the latest Harry Potter addition is very current and brilliantly designed. We may return to MK when our youngest grandchild is older, and only then with vast improvements and upgrades in reliabilty, design and reasonable wait times for all level of guest which would provide a positive experience for everyone.

I had such high expectations of this place and had such high hopes that we would be able to create memories to last a while. The "Disney World - Magic Kingdom" is nothing like what they show you in the commercials. What my boyfriend and I got was a miserable day full of waiting in long lines, horrible customer service, and an overall mediocre experience. Im grateful we didnt pay the full price of our tickets to get into the park. And I understand, Magic Kingdom is more for the kids and less for us young adult types, but I expected way more than what we got. First of all, the lines are HORRIFIC. An hour wait just to get a meal from a place with only 3 different items on the menu, all ridiculously overpriced (but what can you expect from a tourist trap... I mean amusement park). And for the rides? Forget about it. Everyone in line is either trying to control their child or is too distracted with whatever game they have set up for entertainment to be worried about line progression. Either that or you have people screwing around, people cutting, holding places in line, etc. And fast passes? Not even worth it. Youre still waiting over an hour with the exception of a few attractions. Unless youre waiting for a show, the ride wait will take up at least 66% of your day. So have fun with that. Secondly, every single employee looked absolutely miserable and acted in the same manner. No tact, no personality, no smiles, nothing. I was even scolded for taking a picture of the Evil Step Sisters because "you cant take pictures of other peoples families", and was told to get in line or walk away. Which I understand, however, there was a better way to handle that: Its not like Im purposely exploiting anyone. If someone just so happens to be in the frame I cant help that. If thats the case then I cant take pictures in a public setting anywhere! To be honest, the only thing that I would go back for is the fireworks show at the end of the night. Beautiful display (if youre in the right spot at the right time). But it wasnt enough to give it even two stars. Disney, I expected a lot more from you. I dont know what happened in the last couple of years, but the magic is gone. I had a better time in Disney Springs, a free little park/"City Walk", than I did at your theme park. And judging from the miserable looks on the kids faces there, Id say Im not the only one that feels this way.
