Today Feb. 03, 2016 There is a woman who says she is the manager who is consistently discriminatory towards me. I have a back & knee injury that make it very painful to carry a purse or laptop case to the point where it has caused me to have vicious back spasms. I carry a backpack as it centers the load and does not cause as much pain. Today she demanded to see inside while ignoring large purses and a large size diaper bag. I asked why. She said she needed to look for contraband and check for weapons. I asked her why she was targeting me and had not checked any of the other bags, one larger than my backpack, and politely told her no. She sold me a ticket, then attended those waiting, including myself, for snacks. At no time was I ever threatening nor vulgar. I did not at anytime curse or disparage her. Part way into the movie two sheriff deputies arrived and asked me to exit to the hallway because the manager told them I had a concealed weapon in my backpack. The officers refused to cite her for initiating a false report.

UPDATE: Well, they finally raised prices. Tickets are still fairly inexpensive, but concessions jumped a lot. I imagine most people are happy they take debit and credit now, but cash only never bothered me. Still a comparitive bargain, but not the amazing deal it once was. No longer a 5 star for me $5 for a first run matinee is unheard of nowadays and its a legit old school before 6pm cut off. Pmus, after 6pm its still only $7 for adults and still $5 for kids and seniors. I see the occasional complaint about them being a cash only business, but Jesus, Id rather pay less and use their in theater ATM if Im in a hurry rather than subsidize the banks fee racket. Even their concessions are reasonabe. I can see a full price movje and get a small popcorn and a medium soda for about what an "XD" tocket costs at the closest chain. Theater is a little old and run down, but its clean and the sound and picture are great. Plus, they have Pepsi products!

I legitimately liked this theater. When we went to a feature there, its clean and basic. But, I like supporting locally-owned businesses and Portland is lucky, cinemas like this make it easy. Restrooms were at the far end of the theater corridor and our feature was at the other end. Two auditoriums are in the lobby so those must be quite small. The cinema we were in was average sized, clean and had comfortable seating. One thing to note, the auditoriums are laid out in the classic style with a sloped seating area, but not stadium / tiered seating like most of the new multiplex auditoriums. Viewing the screen wasnt an issue and I only heard the movie next door during the previews. This business is cash only and they have an ATM in the lobby in case you are without funds. Evening shows are currently $7 and matinees $5 for adults. Concessions were $5 or less, unlike most larger chain cinemas.

Every time my family goes to this theater the quality gets worse and worse. Recently we saw Shrek ever after and honestly after this experience I will probably never go back. I know one cant expect an HD quality movie at $5 a ticket but come on! I counted at least 10 scratch lines in the real through out the entire movie, and that was in theater #1 which is their best one. Either the projector hasnt been cleaned in a long time and is destroying their films or they are buying the bargain reels. I felt the quality of the picture was worse than a $1 movie theater and the sound quality of my home theater blows theirs away. Now on to the concession quality. We no longer order popcorn due to the fact we have all felt sick after eating it on multiple visits. All in all this theater has gone down hill very fast. I now no longer feel bad spending the extra money towards a chain theater.

There have been recent upgrades here. New very cute carperting throughout. Senior and early movies for 5 bucks. Nice and helpful young people. Parking right outside the door. I am pretty picky about cleanliness and do not agree with the other comments. True, it is not like the new mega movies at the mall, but the price is so much more reasonable. The bathrooms are older, but fine and presentable. Also true, is that the seats are in good shape, the floor is never sticky and the popcorn is great. I can well afford any store at Bridegport, but like the idea of supporting these local guys. They provide an opportunity for people on a budget to enjoy the movie experience with their families the same as those who have money to spend at pretentious theatres. Glad they are here so I choose them first.

My whole family loves this movie theater! Of course its not all sparkly and brand new like the mall theaters but it always has first run movies and the prices cannot be beat in the Portland area! The Popcorn is great and all the concessions are well priced which is a nice relief from other chain theaters around. Employees are always nice, the place is clean, you never have to wait in a giant line for tickets, the seats are comfy and again the tickets are ONLY $5 before 6pm! Really cant be beat, been going here for over 15 years and have never had any meaningful complaint! Plus my mom loves that their senior discount starts at 55 so she only pays $5 no matter what time it is. The two of us can go to a movie, buy a popcorn and soda to share and still have change left over from a $20.

Good movie theater and $5 is a great price for first run movies. My spouse and I went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. It was the first time we had gone to the Oak Grove 8. The movie was shown in theater number 1. The $5 per ticket price before 6 pm, for a first run movie, was great. The movie quality was great - no scratches in the film. There was no line for tickets and plenty of parking. At the end of the movie, theater number 1 was cleaned by the staff. There were no smells - even though another reviewer said there were smells when that reviewer attended. I would recommend the Oak Grove 8 to my friends. My spouse and I will be attending in the future.

I have been here twice. First time was to see "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" I had a good time. Didnt have any complaints. 2nd time I saw "The Lego Movie" (also good) the movie was in one of the smaller theaters that holds 50 people or so. The only complaint I have was the screen had water marks down it. Dont listen to the comments below. They were written a year ago...and about the itching comment. Maybe If you showered some you wouldnt itch. Great place to watch a flic for cheap. An beisides the place is dark when you watch movies. Do you people even go there to watch or compain?

While all of the other theaters are charging higher prices because of placing couches and recliners (and serving beer) - this theater still has lower pricing during certain times of day and also caters to families. The only complaint I have is the sticky floor and dirty seats (which is inconsistent, there have been times where its fairly clean - and others where Im unsure if I want to sit down). Sometimes they do not have the movie playing that I want to see, but overall its still somewhat affordable for me to go here to watch a movie every once in a while.
