I will start by saying the venue is beautiful. However, my wedding planning, rehearsal, ceremony and reception was a nightmare working with Kress Terrace, Visions Catering, and Suite 300. I originally booked Suite 300 in January 2015, before it even was finished with renovations. I fell in LOVE with Kress and with the assurance from Karen and Michelle on all of the "wonderful" things they offered as a "packaged deal" with the venue, I was SURE this was the right place. Shortly after booking I contacted Kress more than 3 times before I could get a response back for a tasting. They told us the tasting was free and that we could not choose what we wanted, it was the chefs choice. If we wanted to try the food we wish to select, they would charge us $40 per person. when we arrived for the tasting we were amongst 5 other people. The service was horrible and it was extremely chaotic. But that isnt the worst part. The food was disgusting. It was cold and had no flavor or seasoning. At this point we wanted a refund for the booking. However, it was non refundable so at that point, we were locked in. They tried to rectify it by allowing us to come in for a complimentary tasting. It took us an entire 6 months to schedule the next tasting because they were not accommodating at all. The second time around the food was worse than before. The chicken and steak was tough, the food was still cold, and the lemonade was disgusting. We were told it may not taste like it should because they had to make a smaller portion size. They were FOREVER making excuses. They assure us the chef would season the food to our liking and it would not be cold. When we arrived into town we tried to contact them to confirm the time for our rehearsal dinner. They NEVER answer the phone. The day of our rehearsal we tried contacting them again and still no response. I decided to go to the venue an hour before rehearsal started to see if someone was there. They were and had a full tasting occurring. I informed Michelle, the time we agreed for the rehearsal and she assured me everything would be ready. Once we arrived at the venue, there was still someone doing their tasting. The chairs were not set up and there was no where to rehearse. Our rehearsal was scheduled to start at 2 and we did not begin until 2:50. They only allow you one hour to rehearse for the ceremony. Anytime after that, they will charge you. The event manager, Michelle, had the audacity to ask us to leave at 3:20 after we had to wait for the people who were there for the tasting to clear out and for our aisle to be set up. The Ceremony Kristin, who was our manager was delightful, to a certain extent. Everything was set up nicely except for the fact the chair covers had stains on them. Ew. The Reception was a nightmare. The food was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND WAS STILL COLD! They had to go back to their kitchen to rehear the food and instead of serving buffet style they had to serve the food played in order to keep it hot they had steamers with NO WATER IN THEM! Then at the open bar, they tried to serve our guest only beer and wine, where our contract states we paid for mixed drinks. Them the bartender tried to limit our guest to a one drink minimum! At an open bar? Yeah right. Lastly, the worst part of the night. One of the venue staff handed me a Togo box with food in I that spilled all over my wedding gown. Her solution was for me to take it to the cleaners. They attempted to help by putting shout on the dress to get the stains out but it barely did anything. They definitely will be getting a phone call from my attorney. I do not recommend this venue. Looks are deceiving

Greeting! Our daughter and new son-in-law was married on Sept 5, 2016 [Labor Day]. Kress Terrace is certainly an old building which took me back to my childhood days. I actually shopped at Kress before it changed to Woolworth up North. I am not here to bash the staff nor the venue. I gave the venue four stars because, although we strive for perfection, everything we do and everything we hope for on any special ocassion, isnt always perfect. My daughter and son-in-law selected this old-fashioned venue - It is lovely. The outdoor wedding was lovely, but hot. Thats mother nature. The guest tables set-up inside was simply lovely with a touch of elegance. The cake table was beautiful. The food was tasty. My interaction with the staff was pleasant. What I would suggest, that is, when someone is planning a wedding, try not to book events too close to one another because the staff can get burnt out. By the time the previous event was over, staff had to get back into gear and immediately prepare for another. It will burn-out your staff. I noticed a few staff appeared slow-moving, but they gave their best. So, since it was our daughter and son-in-laws wedding, a few family and friends decided NOT to sit back and dedicate, we stepped in by assisting with the placement of the plates and glasses onto the tables. We ALL were working together including our wedding planner. I know this is business, but these are also special times for those who wrote and signed the check. People should always read the reviews, so you know what to expect and to correct or just go to another venue. We did not have time to fuss on this joyful day because the clock was still ticking. Our guests were not aware of the delays because WE did not make it obvious. Our main responsibility had become to make sure the bride and groom were not aware of the delays, but that their hearts remained full of excitement so they can have a fabulous, fantastic, beautiful, heartfelt, memorable day. After all, It was a day that The Lord had made. And guess what? They rejoiced and was glad and blessed to be a part of it! Well Done!

Worst Ever! I was so excited to have my wedding and reception at the Kress Terrace in downtown Greensboro. Karen (owner of exclusive caterer Visions Catering and property manager for Kress) gave us a tour. She really sold the place, and she seemed so sweet and easy to work with--we were very excited. Our one reservation was a rain plan--Karen said (verbatim) that they had a tent specifically designed for the terrace and it was only a couple hundred bucks to rent. Sounded great! Then...we met for the "tasting/planning". First of all, we were corralled with at least 10 other couples, and the folks that had working the event were clueless. The girl assigned to our table had to go and ask the owner for answers to 90% of our questions. The food was TERRRRIBLE. Cold, nasty, dry. Then the kicker! We found out that the tent was actually $2,000 to rent as Karen had described it (with rain gutters etc). The girl at the tasting event told us that a couple hundred bucks meant different things to different people. LOL. I called Karen to discuss my concerns...and was SHOCKED that instead of apologizing and making it right, she was totally defensive and acted like all issues were our fault. And she had her husband on the call because he was so offended that my fiancé had DARED to speak to Karen at the tasting event when he was sitting right next to her...well he never even introduced himself, so how the heck were we supposed to know that that? And what kind of business owning woman cant discuss business with male clients without her husband being consulted first?? We gladly accepted our deposit back and planned and executed a FABULOUS FABULOUS wedding with another venue and caterer. The Kress has beautiful views, but you are forced to contract with nincompoops. Dont Do It!
