Francis Ford Coppolas Winery in Geyserville was a stunning surprise. There is nothing better than the element of surprise, especially while on vacation from the hectic holidays in Las Vegas, Nevada, but while writing a story in Cloverdale, California, I drove through the Wine Country roads to find Coppolas brand bottled. In the beginning, I was not interested in visiting another winery. I am so happy that I stopped. Francis Ford Coppolas winery has a museum, swimming pool, upstairs bar, outside patio, and extraordinary restaurant. The bartender and waitresses were wonderful. Customers crowded around inside from China, Japan, Houston, and the energy of their enthusiasm was exciting to be apart of as we shared camera phones to take photos of one another on New Years Eve in the redwood forests of Northern California. My neighbors at the bar ordered pizza baked in a brick oven. Pasta was being passed around with fresh bread rolls that resembled donuts without the sugary taste. The dish that delighted me was a special made my Coppolas mother: Chicken pressed under a brick and fried in olive oil with broccoli and baby carrots harvested from the estate garden named Chicken Mattone. The bartenders said the dish was his favorite as tourists shared stories while dining on rack of lamb, Polynesian spare ribs, and rigatoni in an astonishing sauce full of beef, veal, raisins and pine nuts. Each dish had a story. Francis Coppola wrote about his mother on the menu as well as family members like Uncle Mikeys favorite sausage sandwich. He is a great storyteller. The rustic restaurant sold olive oil used in the dishes to fry the french zucchini. Views were spectacular from the restaurant. Tourists stopped to ask for a picture as I walked back to the parking lot. Every person who entered wanted to remember their experience, especially when visiting the movie collection from Francis Ford Coppolas hit films concerning Dracula, Apocalypse Now, Tucker, The Godfather, and Sofia Coppolas movie Marie Antoinette. Imagine all this great food served with a view from the walled windows as you indulge in the best wines served in the tasting area. Plus Francis Ford Coppolas Winery is closer to Sonoma Countys Charles M. Schulz Airport than the neighboring town of Santa Rosa. Thus if you are a local Las Vegas visitor like me, you can now take nonstop flights from Las Vegas McCarran Airport on Allegiant Airlines into Charles M. Schultz Airport and eat at Coppolas Rustic Restaurant with his wine in less than two hours. The flight was seventy minutes from Las Vegas, Nevada. Visit the Mob Museum around Downtown Fremont Street for lunch as you prepare to eat dinner at Francis Ford Coppolas Winery and Rustic Restaurant in the evening for dinner. Upstairs Francis Ford Coppolas museum has a collection of memorabilia from his hit film The Godfather including the original desk used in the film script next to the written script behind museum glass. Charles M. Schultzs Cartoon Museum with the Peanut characters is less than thirty minutes south of Coppolas museum restaurant serving wine.

Fantástica vinícola do famoso diretor de cinema, lugar lindo com visual anos 30, piscina lindíssima que pode ser utilizada por visitantes mediante taxa, as terças tem um jantar italiano chamado A Tavola, que a equipe que atende se veste caracterizados de italianos, e simulam até um barraco entre o garçom e o cozinheiro, sanfoneiro tocando músicas italianos, ambiente maravilhoso. Além do museu do cineasta com peças originais dos seus filmes, incluindo a mesa do poderoso chefao, carro do Tucker e as estatuetas do Óscars que ganhou. Imperdível.

We drove a couple of hours to the Coppola winery to have lunch. Nice grounds and building, but unfortunately at lunchtime on a Friday with very few people there, and the restaurant half-empty, we were told that we would have to wait 1 hour to get in. Explaining our situation to the attendant didnt seem to be received with any degree of understanding. Judging by the disorganized, yet small line to get in, along with other tourists who left the line while we were waiting, I have to concur with others that this is a poorly managed restaurant with employees that dont seem to understand how to serve customers professionally. To make it worse, if you cant get into this restaurant theres not many other places to have a meal, except local wineries with basic wine tasting. There are plenty of better choices in Napa Valley which is an hour away from this place and way closer to the city. Risk it if you dare.

My Honey and I spent a couple days at the Winery for our birthdays. Had a Private tasting and tour with Jim and he was fabulous. Jim had his hands full with us being that niether of us really like wine having said that he truly opened my eyes to great wine and had so much fun learning with Jim. The next day we spent the day at the pool and playing Bocce Ball and again the staff was hard working and full of smiles. To top the day off we had an Amazing dinner at Rustic. Highly recommend the Classic Florentino Steak..Delicious! Nina our server for dinner was the absolute best for the day!! Not to short anyone else but we absolutely loved Nina!! We wish her all the best! She is a huge asset to the Winery. My heartfelt thanks to all that put up with our shenanigans... I will recommend Frances Ford Coppola Winery to everyone! Thank you Jim and So many thanks to Nina we loved you!!

Got there when Rustic opened certainly accounting for the super attentive service and when I asked for some anchovies I got a huge portion which I greedily took back and savored for days in our swank bungalow at the Carneros Inn. After perusing the grounds we settled into a luxe inside booth and ordered a simple Penne that was perfect after I doctored it up with Francis namesake hot sauce and liberal amounts of parmigiano of course. There is also a fascinating collection of Olive Oil labels, cans and rare lithograph stones that is very special decorating the 4 corners of the restaurant. The wine is just the frosting on the cake for this must visit attraction and although a little distance from party central Napa it got us to the top of the valley where we spent a memorable day visiting some of our favorite wineries heading South towards an early bed.

I am a boutique winery sort of gal and avoided Coppola since Im averse to crowds. I visited with my friends in late afternoon on a Monday (Veterans Day holiday). The tasting is $10 and included the Sofia signature bubbly. The highlight of the visit were the showrooms of movie memorabilia from the Coppola familys iconic movies. The view over the vineyard was stunning but we decided to eat our dessert (they were okay, not mind blowing) indoors at the bar. I had the lemon tart, which was the tastiest, compared to my friends apple tart and panna cotta (both mild in flavor, again not outstanding). The Illy cappuccino that the bartender made was meh. I enjoyed walking the grounds and would come back to swim in the pool during the summer.

My family and I are on our way to Oregon and this winery was a stop for momma to enjoy..with my husband and 2 kids we are pulling a travel trailer. We were planning to have some lunch and check out the grounds. Unfortunately, the bus parking was taken up with cars. The bus parking area did not have a sign that said "bus parking only" so cars parked there of course. Called the front office and said that yes that was the only parking and to please not park on the road. So unfortunately...we had to leave. This stop was just for mom...but now we have to settle for fast food. A suggestion would be to place a bus only sign in order to avoid car parking in those areas. I was really looking forward to it...but sadly couldnt stay.
