There is a serious issue with the seating arrangement...there isnt any and that is the problem. For a small possibility of finding a grassy seating area, you need to arrive two hours ahead of the concert (one hour waiting in a long line until they open the gate, then one hour to queque through the line and wait till the concert start). If you arrive one hour before the start, then expect to be sitting in the pinestraw area where your view will be a 45-70 degree angle with a few pine trees in your line of view. This is where we ended up sitting. To make the experience even more dreadful, you can barely hear the lyrics of the song. Just a lot of base and instructment playing but not the words. Appeared that the sound people dont know how to work the sound. Whats the point of that when you go to the Weird Al concert. Bottom line, avoid going to big venue at Koka unless you plan to hear little and see little.

Went to see Jim Gaffigan, he was good but the place was ridiculously PACKED. Had to park far away and walk on the MAIN ROADS in order to get to the venue. Closer parking was available but was not advertised. They definitely oversold tickets for the amount of space we were to all squeeze into. I sat on a downhill slope staring at a tree trunk and couldnt see anything. I could catch glimpses of Jim glowing on stage via the "jumbo screen" through tree limbs. Would of been a nice place had they been smart about amount of tickets and amount of space. Also, only two port-a-potties were available for the crowd, I mean, HOW DUMB. Probably will not attend another show there. Was very excited to see Jim Gaffigan and I didnt even get to see him. Ill save some money next time by sitting in my backyard staring at a tree playing his CD.

Last nights show was great. John Mellencamp is a great preformer. One of his shows should not only be heard but felt. To help the audience get the best possible show two things will enhance his performance. 1, have video monitors above or beside the stage. 2. Improve the sound system to be able to deliver the music to the audience the way the performance is meant to be delivered by the performers. John Mellencamp likes drums and said it several times. The sound was good but needed just a little bit more kick to make it great. The venue is a good one and I will be back for more shows, because the service is good, food somewhat fairly priced, as is the beverages. I would love to be able to see the show a little better and not just hear the show but feel it better too. Thanks Art Van Natten.

Been here for a few beer, wine, concerts, and other similar events. Most recently I was there for the Chinese Lantern Festival which was pretty awesome. From a venue point of view its a pretty space. Mostly lawn seating but normal seating is typically offered in the covered deck in the back. Liked most outdoor venues, weather is aways an unknown. Especially when you get tickets for an event months in advance. Ive had 2 events that got cut short or made the event miserable due to rain. Yes, weather is pretty much an act of God that is outside of the venues control but has to be taken into account when choosing to attend an event here since it can ruin the whole thing this minus one star.

This amphitheater has a beautiful setting, and the prices for tickets there arent very bad at all. The downside is that all the reserved seating up near the stage is open air, as is the lawn area of course. Further back where the restrooms and concession stands are, there are tables and that area is covered, but Ive always thought of amphitheaters as having some covered seating toward the front where reserved seating is. Unlike Walnut Creek, Koka Booth does not have that setup. So that is a downside, especially if rain is in the forecast. Other than that, the place is very nice, and the employees and security very accommodating for special needs like wheelchairs.

We went to see Lady Antebellum there last night (9/23/10). They had obviously oversold the venue because there were absolutely no seats left! We got there early, parked all the way over in Regency Park and had to walk FOREVER to get there, then by the time we got through the gate, the only seats left were in the pinestraw. Perhaps they should have a section called "PINE STRAW BEHIND DRUNK LADY HANGING ONTO TREES." I would never spend another $1 to go to Cary. I will take my money to Walnut Creek or the RBC Center - If you only have enough room for a certain number of tickets, then you should only sell that number. Completely and totally disappointed!

Koka Booth is not for everyone. If you want a big corporate feel then you should go to another location. But if you enjoy an eclectic variety of music and events then Koka Booth is the perfect fit. The location itself is beautiful and a lot of the vendors are local. You can also at some events pre-order food to have as a picnic. I would recommend going early to be able to get the location you want or buying seat tickets not on the lawn. The staff is very friendly and very willing to help in anyway they can. I cant wait for this years lineup!

Outdoor venues are nearly always special, and Koka Booth more than most, perhaps extra special? Yes, with the right music and an enchanting summer evening thats not too hot, theres no place else you want to be. The NC Symphony summer concert series are a must if you live near, everybody from Willie Nelson to The Black Eyed Peas have played here. In short, check the calendar and plan to attend something in this, just large enough to still feel neighborly venue in Cary; youre likely to have a pleasant surprise.

Great venue for all sorts of stage shows. I prefer the lawn seats because theres breathing room. Get to the venue early for big acts so you can scout out your place. I find the assigned seating to be very close together and the air gets a little stagnant as a result. Great food and drink options. You can even order your dinner ahead of time and pick it up when you get there. There are also a ton of great festivals here all year round! So much to do!

Horrible place for a comedy show. I saw Jim Gaffigan there and it was way over booked. We got there well before the show started but had to sit down by the pond, couldnt see the stage and could barely hear the comedians. I wouldnt recommend going there for a comedy show unless they cap attendance at a couple thousand, not their full capacity of 7,000. We paid ~$100 for two lawn seats -- way more than Id be willing to pay again.

Though Ive never seen a formal performance here, we watched the fireworks on the 4th while the NC Symphony Orchestra played traditional pieces and medleys. I was impressed by the sound quality in amidst the dim of all our conversations, and the ambiance of the lake and surrounding trees was lovely. Parking was a bit frustrating, but the experience did make up for it; I simply suggest looking at parking locations before arrival.
