I have a love/hate relationship with this theater. Regal Destiny always books the best films playing in Syracuse, whether highly-promoted Hollywood product, American indies, or sometimes even foreign-language films (especially Hindi and, once in a while, Chinese films). Compared with the horrendous screening spaces at Regal Shoppingtown, where chronically defective speakers have eliminated my patronage, the projection and sound at Destiny (especially IMAX and RPX) are superb. I do have a strong objection, however, to Regal Destinys use of their tiny downstairs screening spaces for new releases that they evidently assume wont sell enough tickets to justify a screen much bigger than the ones we have in just about every classroom at LeMoyne College where I teach. To arrive at the theater on opening day to see a well-reviewed film thats been advertised on television, only to discover that I will be paying the same high ticket price (without even a senior discount) to watch a tiny screen that I would be paying if the film were projected onto a screen at least ten times larger upstairs, is as insulting to myself and other potential audiences as well as it is to the filmmakers and producers whose work would look at least as good on home video. Its gotten to the point that when I go to see a new film at Destiny and discover that its screening in the "basement," I either see something else or just leave the mall and drive to Utica or even Ithaca (which I have done more than once) where, even if the screens are as small as they are at Cinemapolis, I get to see the film for less, including the dollars I have to spend on gasoline to get there. I personally feel that Regal should, short of converting those three tiny spaces into two larger ones, at least offer a discounted ticket price to people who are willing to sit there. (And, yes, charging less for admission to those tiny spaces will actually be more profitable for the theater, since I almost always buy concessions - but they make zilch when I turn around and go elsewhere.)

Save yourself a lot of money & awkwardness by going to the Palace instead...Regal Carousel has outrageous prices, a completely useless automated telephone "service" & patronizing and overbearing managers. Last time I went, my husband and I purchased and printed tickets online. I had gone straight from work to the theater, so I left mid-movie to have a quick dinner in the food court before returning to the film, which was relatively long. I stopped at concessions to get popcorn and soda for my husband on the way back in. As I was pleasantly conversing with the young man taking care of my order, his manager began literally "looming" over him, eyeing us as we spoke. After a minute, he finally started interjecting, making the young man nervous, and in a very patronizing tone began answering questions that the young man had just very competently answered for me. For some reason, (maybe because I was there for the Grateful Dead film, or maybe because I am 25 years old, but look no older than 18?) he seemed suspicious of me to boot. A female manager came over and checked my printed ticket (the third time I was approached about it since initial admission), which Id made obvious that I was holding in my hand. The first manager (superiority-complex at its best) directed the young man who was serving me to attend to some meaningless task, and explained something to me about the Regal Card, although I was clearly annoyed and wanted him to leave me alone by then. The experience began normally and pleasantly, but ended up bizarre and uncomfortable. Im not sure how managers with such poor, superficial personal skills and social judgment get jobs. They should really just let the cashiers deal with the customers, because it puts people off to have pushy managers lurking around, bothering people. I now prefer the Palace theater on James street, which is a more relaxed, intimate setting in which the cashiers arent expected to behave as robots, and the managers dont bother people.

My experience tonight started off terrible and I was almost ready to just leave, however I didnt want to leave without letting someone know why I was so upset! Earlier in the evening, I had purchased what I thought were IMAX tickets to the movie Logan. This was given to me as an option and sold to me as a ticket for a movie that isnt even there in the IMAX theater! The only movie there is Beauty and the Beast!!!! I was even more confused when the IMAX ticket taker didnt ever let us in on this little secret!! He just kept saying,,, " yeah that started at like 7...". Anyways, after finding a manager named TOM EGNATO, things seemed to come right back under control and he was able to quickly defuse my angry attitude at the time. Im thankful that he took the time to listen and solve the problem.

I will never return to this theater on a weekend. I went last Sat night and brought 3 12 year girls, spent at least $60.00 to have to listen to a bunch of obnoxious teens talking, using phones, yelling things out and swearing through the whole movie!! It was so bad that the had to have 3 cops in there on and off to calm the people down. Its to bad the city trash is allowed to come in there by the dozens and make the rest of feel uncomfortable!! Oh yeah there was even a couple who brought in their 5 month (or so) old!! Who brings a baby to the movies at 8pm no less!!! Such a shame, it could have been a nice night because the movie was really good. Lessen learned, stay north lol.

Usually a "decent" experience at Regal in Destiny but that mall is being over run by trash and they take no measure what so ever to keep it out! Our last experience seeing "Get Out" on a Wednesday night was absolutely insane with the language and interruptions through the entirety of the film. When we exited the film management and staff were standing outside of the theater with obvious knowledge of the issue however did nothing during the film! I know it sounds like Im complaining about it but you would have had to be there to experience what we and others went through.

There is never enough people working at the register making the wait horribly long. And on top of the shortage of staff God help you if you have people in front of you taking forever by the option of selecting their seats smh. Although there are kiosks where you can buy tickets and avoid the line, the regal reward cards do not work on the machines. Which leaves you reaping no reward points for your purchase. All in all this theater has a lot of improvement needed.

Back in 2002 (Hoyts US), we (Me, Scott, Kim, Nick, Ryan and Alicia) had a chance to see Ice Age (2002) since I (Sean) had autism back in 1999. Years later (Regal) in 2015 (Minions on RPX) and 2016 (Suicide Squad), it changed a lot since the expansion is completed and I felt emotional for all movies. Thanks for the memories.

The theater is newly added and brings IMAX for big viewing pleasure. Its a nice touch and fun to watch movies in bigger than lifelike formats. The theater lacks some amenities found in competitor theaters such as Muvico D-box but it is still a nice experience for the local Central New York movie goers
