There is only one review with isolated complaints... not reflective of my experience in any way. I love the popcorn, with its delicious, unique toppings... and the baked goods are homemade (!) The staff are friendly and care a lot about the venue. Comfy seats and many film choices... which means that some of the theaters are smaller, but its a small price to pay for the variety; the house is rarely filled to capacity, anyway. The movie selections are outstanding; my urban friends are jealous of the access I have to quality independent cinema. Even better, this movie house is a not-for-profit endeavor that generously supports the community with donations and service. Cinemapolis is a terrific neighbor in the Ithaca community. My friends and family travel quite a distance to see films here. This is my favorite place to see a movie, hands down.

Cinemapolis is one of the best art house cinemas Ive been to. Theyve got a lovely lobby, the best popcorn for a theater (possibly the world), and the programming is phenomenal. I am never disappointed with the special screenings Ive attended with filmmakers and the two festivals that use Cinemapolis (Ithaca Fantastik and FLEFF) are superb and use the space well. The owner Brett is very kind hearted and I am happy to support this local cinema in anyway I can.

Cinemapolis is a five screen Indy theater located just off the Ithaca Commons with easy parking options. The organization that operates it is a non-profit, and memberships are available for those inclined. Their fresh popcorn is available with real butter and a variety of toppings (including nutritional yeast, olive oil, and parmesan cheese). The movie selections are thoughtful and were fortunate to have such a resource in a small city.

I love movies, but I hate seeing movies at Cinemapolis. The staff is rude and inefficient. The popcorn is terrible. The theaters are small and weirdly shaped. The movie times are frequently changed or cancelled at the last minute which means time, money and effort wasted on our part. Ive lived in Ithaca 13 yrs. and always find it a challenge to see a movie at Cinemapolis.

Cinemapolis is a wonderful place to go in Ithaca, NY. A first class place for watch movies. The people who usually go to Cinemapolis are well read, polite and friendly. The staff is really great and the popcorn is the best served in the city. It is comforting to be part of a establishment that flourishes year by year. My favorite hangout for sure. -Marilene Barros

I super disagree with Norah. This place is great, they have lots of awesome popcorn toppings so you can customize a delicious experience. Their snacks are affordable, delicious, and many of them are locally sourced (ie. chocolate chip cookies). They have all the best art films and many excellent special events. This place is truly an asset to our community.

I didnt come here nearly enough in the two years I lived in Ithaca. I love that there is a place to catch classic movies as well as new and indie films at good prices in an intimate setting. A few times we even had the theatre to ourselves! Definitely a good place to hit up right off the commons. They sometimes have student deals so watch out for that too!

One of my favorite movie theaters anywhere! It recently moved to this location and has more screens than it used to, but still has the independent charm from its former basement days. Turnover of films is quick, though, so stay up to date on what is playing and what is coming (check the website). Concessions are great, and it is clean and family friendly.

Cinemapolis shows foreign, indie and some mainstream films. Also National Theatre events such as Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet. The theaters are comfortable and accessible, with areas reserved for persons with disabilities and their companions. Restrooms are clean and convenient. You will experience a friendly atmosphere with an artsy flair.

In June, Cinemapolis opened in a new location with 5 screens, stadium seating, better sound and their same great popcorn. The old theater had charm, but the new space is beautiful and right under a free parking garage off the commons. They also have a partnership with local restaurants for dinner-and-a-movie specials. Go local!

Cinemapolis is a wonderful member supported independent movie theater. I am a graduate student at Cornell and having a place to blow of steam at very reasonable prices is great. Most of the theaters are good, but, a one of them is really small. I also think the food selection could be greatly improved.

Great movies. Great snacks. A down side is that there is a lot of dampness in the space, and sometimes the deodorizer is pretty overwhelming - especially in summer. Best popcorn ever! Real butter and toppings, and a nice space to rent for events.

Truly one of the best things about living in Ithaca. A wonderful staff, who obviously love film and the community, an excellently curated mix of films, great theaters, and real butter on the popcorn. What else could you ask for?

Amazing indy theater in a great location. They host many film reviews and have many awesome guests come discuss the films they show. Well worth the time to see what real independent cinema is supposed to be.

Shows a nice selection of indie and art house films thst dont make it to the bigger Regal Cinemas at the mall. Only minor problem is that occasionally you can hear cars rumbling from the parking garage above.

We are so lucky to have such a great theatre in town. My partner and I are finally becoming members because there are always so many great movies to watch. We are excited for the Members $5 movie Mondays :)

Your standard arthouse theater. Somehow very strange architecturally, as though it wasnt purpose-built as a movie theater, despite being so. Avoid the popcorn - its tasteless and rubbery.

Only place nearby that will show the more artsy movies that dont get shown in the big chains. Independently run and non-profit, so you know youre supporting a local institution.

Thanks for bringing such wonderful movies to Ithaca. I have never found one of your movies disappointing. Thanks also for improving the seats giving us plenty of leg room.

One of my favorite places in Ithaca is Cinemapolis. You are guaranteed a good movie and, even though its super small and home-stylish, it gives student discounts.

A wonderful independent cinema. Small, and comfortable, friendly staff, and in a great location. Be sure to get popcorn with nutritional yeast.

First time visiting even though I live 3 minutes away. Excellent cinema experience, previews couldve been slightly shorter.

Usually short staffed but they always have interesting movies when Id rather not see another boner movie in a big theater.
