Honestly, my girlfriend and I live about 30 minutes away in Virginia Beach and yet still go to this theater on a regular basis because we love it so much. Granted we go out to eat and to the movies a lot, so we go a lot of places, but we love to go here just to knock both of the things we love to do (eat and see movie) out at once. The theater has nice spacious seats perfect for a couple on a date (or just having plenty of room on your own), the service has always been on point for us (in fact I always tip extra on top of the added gratuity), and the food has always been truly enjoyable for us. Now, yes it is a bit pricey, but in our eyes the experience has always been plenty worth it. I see other reviews on here complaining about how you have to order everything before final call (before movie starts), and to me thats much to do about nothing. You are advised to arrive 30 minutes early because of this and are aware of it, and they do this as to not disturb your movie viewing experience. My girlfriend and I also frequent Cinema Cafe quite a bit, and although we love that as well, it does get annoying having servers walk by or in front of you every couple of minutes while watching the movie. I write all this simply to say that this place is truly a pleasure to go to, and I recommend it to anyone.

My first time going her was on 2/25/17. The atmosphere and ambiance was amazing. While we waited for our show we played bowling and hanged out at the bar. I was all excited about be there. As we got seated in the theater, server came and introduced himself as Hong. I jokingly said to him do he happen to have any Hong Kong fried rice in the back. I stated I was joking dont mind me Chinese food is my favorite food and I love Hong Kong fried rice. Not realizing he felt offended by this. He took our order and left with. Next thing I know Im being approached by the manager and two police officers to find out what took place. After explaining the situation the manager did apologize for the mishap. Never had I felt so embarrass of having police escorting the manager over as I was a hostile case. I dine out on a regular and have always joked and socialized with my server. This experience was totally uncalled for. We spend good amount of money between playing bowling, movies and dining in the theater and tipping a server. I stayed and enjoyed the show. I think after this experience I might not visit again.

Expensive, seats need renovating Love the large clean seats here. Sometimes you get an unlucky squeaky seat. The service is always impeccable, once when the power went out for the entire block, the theater refunded our tickets and gave us another ticket for free. The only thing I wish they did was update the desert menu, the chocolate cake is too rich, there is not much of a selection for anything else. Changing up the menus for new releases is a great idea, just make sure the food is spot on, not dried out and bland. *Ive gone to this theater for the past 4 years. It was amazing up until about 6 months ago. Im not sure if management changed or something but its slowing starting to go downhill. The seats are now worn flaky leather, the food is less than mediocre lately between overcooked fries and smaller portions. They refused entry for a friend who was over 21 because he had an expired license. Im not sure why an Id needs to be current in order to prove age. Overall, this place is slowly going downhill

This place is overpriced as it is, but if the food and service were good it would be alright. We never got any water or drinks. Our food eventually came out, still nothing to drink. About twenty minutes later our waitress, Alex W., came by and asked if we needed anything. I told her we never got our water or the drinks we paid for. A while later she came back with water and a coupon for a free appetizer. I told her that our meals were now cold and I wanted new ones. She then got a real attitude, and took back the free appetizer coupon (our only incentive to ever again darken those doors) and said that she would go get her manager. Later she brought our drinks and said that new meals were being prepared, still with a crappy attitude. Never going back, ever. By the way, if you do go and you get the fish and chips; where the menu says it comes with coleslaw, it means coleslaw garnish. The silver lining there is that the tiny bit of coleslaw I got was terrible.

If youre under 21 or bring anyone under 21 DONT GO HERE. My boyfriend and I went here and ordered our tickets 4 hrs early in order to get good seats. We were so excited and rushed back to make our 8:30 movie. I was carded at arrival and they told me I couldnt watch my movie because Im only 20 and everyone must be 21 and over past 8. This is the first time we heard of this. This should of been blasted throughout their theater on signs and the people who work here SHOULD TELL YOU before you order a ticket. To make matters worse the manager came over and gave major attitude stating that it was on the sign at the entrance WHICH WAS SURROUNDED BY OTHER WRITING AND WAS SMALL. Ive been able to go to this theater on another night and wasnt carded but theyre ridiculous and unprofessional. I understand its policy but how horrible can you get kicking someone out who didnt know especially when some of us have to drive an hour here and pay pricey tolls. WORST PLACE EVER.

I have enjoyed every trip to cinebistro and it has become my primary theater for all movies. The atmosphere, the staff, the great food, amazing drinks, and the experience are more than worth the slightly increased food prices that some visitors complain about. The movie tickets are actually cheaper than going to AMC theaters. In realty, the food prices are no higher than Park Lane Tavern nor Bar Louie and the same is true of the drinks. Their bartenders are so quick and friendly that my friends and I have made Cinebistro one our weekend stops just for a martini, even if we dont see a film. The staff is always friendly and we have been greeted or checked up on my one of the managers during every visit to ask us about our experience and if we need anything else. Though the price is a bit higher, its a great place for a party of friends to go bowling especially with your own personal server so you dont have to leave the game to go order drinks or food.

CineBistro USED TO BE the premier place on the Peninsula to watch a movie. This rating is related solely to the movie side, not bar or bowling as I didnt use those. I was disappointed to see that the chair upholstery was badly in need of replacing. The leather chairs were torn or the leather was rubbing off...this undoubtedly affects your experience. Not just one chair, the entire theater. This place really needs a refresh and it was sad to see that it has not been kept up. There were also boxes of supplies in the bathroom in plain view of guests. Its the little things and when you expect a place to be upscale (as their description states), the little things matter. The service was still ok, but couldnt make up for the average experience. I probably will not go back as a result and stick to either Paragon in Newport News, or will try out AMC 24 as they recently went through a big renovation. I hear AMC is now nicer than CineBistro as far as the chairs go.
