We visited on a Saturday midday and my 15 year old son was able to put up a few shots on this famous court. Just so historic. Later, we watched a high school level league game, attended by families and neighbors, all of whom were friendly and courteous. A great way to spend an afternoon. Definitely, we LOVED it! The neighborhood surrounding the park seemed very accessible; I didnt see anything about it that would be considered objectionable. I say this because we spoke to a lady visitor in another part of Harlem who was from the midwest; she seemed very nervous about going to the Rucker alone. I would say I saw no reason to be nervous in the full daylight. After dark, events might not be so family-friendly, I dont know. Rucker Park is pleasant and the attraction is mainly the tournaments that are held there during the summer, and the games played there by local athletes. Worthwhile making a trip.

One of the most legendary basketball courts in the United States. Many greats in the sport of basketball had their start here, developing and honing their immense talent/skills including Kareem Abdul-Jabber, Wilt Chamberlin, Metta World Peace (lol), Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant. There have been many tournaments featured in the park and famous NBA players that have visited the park. On any given day, you can find multiple games of pick up. Players travel from all over to get the chance to play on this iconic court. Its a place for ballers to gain respect in the sport. If youre a basketball player or fan, make your way up town to Rucker Park and bring your shoes!

Legendary playground that graced the shoes of Dr j, Kobe, KD, and countless others! (And a bucket list place for me happily fulfilled)...regulars couldnt have been nicer...won a few games...lost a few others.. ran into a few guys from Chicago(like me)who ventured here to fulfill a dream.... could have let the magic of this place keep me here all day (yet the fatigue let me succumb after 4hours)...to play...or just to watch...any true hoops fan should see one of the few remaining playground meccas left...

I used to go to the Rucker a lot in the summer of 06 when I lived in New York. One day, I saw Fat Joes team beat fat Jadakiss team (Jadakiss was way fatter than I expected); I watched Joe Forte and JR Smith play like complete amateurs, and the hype-men dogging on them while joking around with the "40+" crew behind the basket. Always a fun time. Anyone living in or visiting New York in the summer, seeing a game at the rucker would be in my top 5 must-do activities.

Being way from cali it was cool seeing Rucker Park. There was some games going on. I consider myself an ok player (maybe juco or d2 level) when in shape, however most of the guys playing seemed weak. Some were good but I expected to only see hoopers at Rucker. Maybe I came on a bad day. Walking around Harlem was awesome though, it was like tv and you could feel the history.

There is always a cool breeze, there is a water fountain and best of all the view of the whitecomb bridge underside and the flowing highspeed traffic make it perfect place for any unwanted children to go play.
