Overpeck Park is definitely a great place to enjoy sports and leisure. The park is in an ideal location, with a wonderful view of Overpeck Creek (lake). The facility has a lot to offer for families and individuals alike. However, the designers of the park obviously didnt foresee the popularity of watersports in our area demographics when they set out to draw up the blue prints for this very successful park. No sooner the park opened, the Hackensack River Keepers moved their canoe and kayak facility from the Meadowlands to Overpeck Park, quickly followed by Bergen County Rowing Club. Both these facilities are a fantastic addition to the park and a great asset for anyone that loves boating and fishing, or even just to watch. Unfortunately the parking lot serving these two very popular facilities is way too small to accommodate ample parking for everyone. This is one of the top favorite areas of the park, and people often have to wait or circle around in the parking lot in their cars with the hope that someone soon leaves. People bringing their own boats often need to park and unload their boat on side of parking lot opposite and farther from the boat dock, making it difficult for many boaters to portage their boats to the kayak dock. The solution is to expand the size of the parking lot and provide at least four [car] spaces, closest to the dock, strictly for the purpose of loading and unloading boats. Another issue is the the location of the fishing dock (pier). It is located far from the nearest [main] parking lot making it very difficult for sports fishermen to transport their fishing gear from the parking lot and the fishing dock and back. The fishing dock itself needs to be expanded to accommodate the [unexpected] large volume of users. More waterfront picnic areas need to be created. Most people enjoy the very peaceful, lovely, and natural view of the lake. And lastly, more needs to be done to prohibit traffic between the park entrances of fort Lee road and Rt-95. It is very dangerous for families with children, and individuals crossing this road. This is a park access road, not part of the Rt-95 highway system. Its an accident waiting to happen.

BEWARE OF RECKLESS BIKERS/PET OWNERS - My mother barely avoided getting seriously injured because someone apparently (regrettably I wasnt there) thought it was a great idea to ride a bike WHILE keeping a dog on a leash, and predictably the leash ensnared someone, which happened to be my mother. They (It was a daughter and a mother, each with a bike and a dog, or something similar) couldnt flee the scene fast enough, as soon as my mother said she thinks she is OK. Ive seen enough pet owners who doesnt seem to have no thought whatsoever on other people or other pets to be really shocked by this reckless, and Id say criminally negligent, behavior, but I wouldve thought they would worry about their beloved pets getting hurt. You might say this isnt about the park itself, but it is, until this kind of behavior somehow disappears from it. Im not a fan of cellphone vigilantism in general, but that may be about the only way to make this happen. again - PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

When I think of overpeck park I think about the Leonie branch with the great walking/ biking path, dog park, tennis courts and track with a sm field off into the back. If you want a change however, instead of taking Fort Lee rd straight over grand avenue and pulling into the parking lot on the right stay to the left. When the light gives you the left-hand green arrow make a left and follow around a center plaque to the right untill you go under what appears to be a bridge but I think its just a design. There are canoes to rent, if u pull into the first parking lot on the left. Stay straight and you will see a huge childrens playground. It has a rope web to climb, the typical swings, slides etc. There is an enormous field where multiple soccer games can go on simultaneously. If you forgot to pack a snack or want a drink there is a snack stand with public bathrooms on the left.

We just moved to the area, and this is our favorite park yet! The playground (in the "New Overpeck Park" area, on the south side of Fort Lee Road) is huge and in great condition, though you definitely need multiple adults if youve got more than 1 kiddo under 4; it can be hard to keep track of them on the elevated playground. Also worth noting that as the "New" area is, well, new, the trees there are tiny and shade is almost non-existent. If you plan to stay for more than an hour, Id do like the Chinese do and bring a small pop-up tent for shade. You may get funny looks (from non-Asians, anyway) but its totally worth it. Finally, turning back out onto Fort Lee Road during rush hour can be a slow process, so time your visit accordingly.

Just 60 acres shy of Central Park in NYC, this place is more like a resort than a park. When I stay close by for business with Samsung, I go there daily, as the south entrance is just a few hundred feet from my hotel. The walking path is smooth enough to roller blade. The bike lanes are just as well kept. Soccer, softball, tennis... they have it all. Even a stage for small musical gatherings. I have spent many early mornings and late evenings taking in the views, out on the small dock over the lake and walking there with my dogs. You must visit when you are in the area. You wont be disappointed.

If you live in Bergen County, youll quickly forget that youre actually in Bergen County when visiting this park. I dont know of anywhere else in the area that you can rent a kayak and row around the calm creek. Right across the bridge there is an equestrian center where you can ride horses. This park is a little slice of heaven in the heart of a stressful place to live. Plenty of people playing sports, fishing, and even taking part in fundraisers/events on the weekends. This is one place where residents can easily say wasnt a waste of money...which is a rarity around here.

This Park has two distinct areas, this review is for the portion located in Ridgefield Park. Despite having been open for many years and having hosted many large festivals, there are many days when it seems like the best kept secret in the county. It can often feel like you have the place to yourself. Several miles of paved pathway for walking, riding or running. Soccer fields, baseball fields, kids play area, fishing pier, boat launch, great views, an amphitheater, comfort station, and expansive lawn spaces. Plenty of parking spread out over several lots.

Best park in the area. Rowing, skating, biking, waking, and even fishing(I think) are all available here. Busy, but not packed. A ton of parking. It has the old over peck park across the street if you want to play tennis, handball, or basketball. Also has a track around the old field. The new over peck park has an amphitheatre and the place is huge. No grilling there I believe. Never seen anyone cookout there. Roads and paths are paved nice and plenty of pokestops for kids. Baseball field and soccer fields seem world class.

Pretty nice park, I go for the dog run they have. Its a pretty decent size. I would give it the 5 stars but it lacks a couple of things that I believe to be important in a dog park. First and more important a water supply , there is none and if your dont bring water for your dog and sometimes that other 3 or four dogs there that will surely cut your time in the park. The actual park nice grass and in this area there is dirt. Really why cant we have grass or mulch or pebbles? anything is better than dirt!
