SUMMARY: - Resort tower king room was OK - The room comes with no benefits/discounts to any of the MGM attractions - By what was hopefully just an honest mistake we almost overpaid $150. Because of this we left with a sour feeling. REVIEW: Check-in: There was a queue to check-in when we arrived around noon but we didn’t have to wait too long. We did not get much information, I noticed the receptionist checking in the person next to us was much more informative and shared information about the mini-bar and restaurants we never got. (more on the mini-bar later) The room: I had booked a resort tower king room. This is a room on floor 24 or 25. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really spacious as well and offered every comfort to prepare for a night out. Despite being a relatively old hotel the room did not show wear and tear. What I missed were bathrobes, they used to be included in the resort-fee but not anymore. A notice about the mini-bar: Be aware that just lifting any of the bottles or snacks situated on the tray on top of the mini-bar will charge this to your room. (Even when you put them back a minute later) I had this happen when I took a closer look at one of the bottles of water that was on the tray. They didn’t make a point about removing this from my bill but it makes the difference between using express-checkout on your TV (and skipping the line) or queueing once more for checking out. Internet: Stable and fast connection. Internet is free (included in the resort fee) Service: When calling room service or the front desk I always got a relative fast response and my issues were resolved quite fast. Check-out is at 11am. I did not find this information anywhere in the room so I did have to look this up on the internet. A suggestion would be to make this information available somewhere in the room as most hotels do. Benefits: We got no coupons, discounts or any other benefits when checking-in. When I stayed in Stratosphere last time I did get free access to the tower so I was hoping staying in Mirage would give me some benefits for any of the MGM attractions (at least a discount) but it didn’t. Too bad. Restaurants: I found most restaurants to be extremely overpriced. Probably the reason you saw almost no people in the restaurants. We had breakfast and dinner once in “The Pantry”. Food was OK, portions were OK and the prices here are reasonable. For a good stead, go across the street to the Outback restaurant! Check-out: As mentioned earlier they made no issue to remove the incorrectly added item from the mini-bar from our bill. However, when I made my booking there was a special offer for RCCL Crown and Anchor members giving a $150 resort credit. Strangely enough the $150 credit we were entitled to was not deducted from our bill. When we did mention this the receptionist transferred the credit to our guest account and gave us a new bill, I just don’t understand this isn’t done automatically. Probably an honest mistake but it gave me a sour feeling. I only taught about it myself in the last minute and things like this shouldn’t happen in professional hotels. Would I stay in Mirage again? Maybe, maybe not. As I mentioned earlier this hotel is not any different from all the other hotels on the strip. So I probably would just pick another next time I’m staying in Vegas. Stratosphere rooms are more basic and its location is not as good (but rooms are cheaper). Venetian’s location is just as good and I found my stay there to be equally good. TIP : MGM Mlife has a relationship with RCCL (Royal Caribbean) so if you have cruised with RCCL before make sure to check there’re no current offers for Crown & Anchor members. TIP2: MGM Mlife also has a relationship with Hyatt so you can earn Hyatt credits for your stays in MGM hotels.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Mirage the second week of April 2016, and honestly, it wowed us the whole time. Here is a comprehensive review of our experience: •The check in line was long, but went quickly, so it did not kill our arrival buzz. •The hotel check in guy was SO personable, and upon learning it was our first time in Vegas, gave us recommendations that absolutely made our trip. I think that kind of care is extremely valuable, especially as first timers. •The hotel itself was breath taking, down to the way it smelled. While you can smoke in the casino area, it smelled addictively great. I know that sounds like an odd thing to comment on, but if you are a non-smoker, that matters. •The room was so glamorous and so huge, even though it was a standard room, we had to take pictures. Beautiful. The mattresses were a little hard on first impression, but by the end of our stay we actually really liked them. •The pool area was beautiful. It was cold with random very warm spots when in the water, but the weather was still oddly chilly at the time we went. We were a little disappointed that even hotel guests had to buy admission into their dolphin/wildlife habitat. I feel like if you book a room you should be admitted free of charge. •Although it may not have been the most beautiful casino we saw in Vegas, it was definitely the absolute most fun. Although, there were almost no cocktail waitresses in sight, which was disappointing because we wanted our free drinks! We never got any service, even though we were willing to tip huge for it. This may have been a one off, but I figured I would mention it. •There could not be a better location on the strip. We were close to all the most exciting hotels/casinos. We almost stayed at the MGM Grand, and thanked God we didnt. That was WAY too out of the way of everything actually exciting about Vegas. And upon finally getting to it, it was a huge disappointment. It was wayyyyyyy too huge, and not fun at all. It was very disorienting and uncomfortable. •The only reason why I gave the hotel a four star rating instead of a five, was because they unexpectedly charged us $100 extra for our stay, as some sort of resort fee. That part killed our buzz of having an incredible experience, and left us with a bad taste in our mouths. BE READY FOR AN EXTRA $100 AT LEAST AT CHECKOUT. They said we should have been notified about this before we confirmed our booking, but we were not notified at all. I also only give it four stars because of the cocktail waitress problem and the charge for trying to see the wildlife habitat. •Regardless of that, we will most definitely be visiting again. We loved it, and it felt like a fairytale just getting to be there. Cannot WAIT to go back. Even if we cant book our hotel here next time for some inexplicable reason, we will definitely want to spend most of our time here. •Thank you, Mirage! We loved you!

Booked this hotel through hotwire and was the cheapest same day booking option. First impression upon stepping into the Mirage was very impressive. The glass dome above us, and the garden underneath was pretty awe striking. When we checked in around 1pm the line was extremely long extending around stanchions. It took at least 20 minutes until we got to the next available staff member. For our stay, we had spend over $200 for one night, not including the ~$20-$30 resort fee that would eventually be imposed on us, so I was a little annoyed when the agent asked if we would like to do a room upgrade. When we inquired how much that would be, she said $100. Even after we declined she then asked if we would like a cheaper room upgrade option for $20, to which again we declined. We had asked what kind of room did we get with the rate, and we were told that we would be on the 9th floor and have a king sized bed, nonsmoking, which was adequate for us. My first impression when entering the room was ill-impressive. The view was mostly the room in the foreground, and the strip lights in the back. The bed was poorly made and one side of the bed had a dip in it. One can imagine why that was. Also, there is a refrigerator with refreshments. bottled Dasani water will cost you about $5/bottle. The floors did not seem to be properly cleaned as well. For over $200, I had expected more, but I guess you are paying more for the location, since the Mirage is right in the center of the strip. I had noticed also that on our way from the front desk to our room, you have to walk through the casino. Maybe its the smoke, or the cleaning products, but the odor was just horrible. The odor itself describes my overall experience in Las Vegas. Tacky, Plastic and seedy. Be sure to have cash on you before arriving, as the ATM on site charges roughly a $7 user fee. I love how the default withdrawal options range from $60 - $1000. Needless to say, I didnt use the ATM. The pool was a nice and refreshing; however, it is only open until 8pm. For a place like Vegas, I would have expected it to remain open longer. I do like the fact though they only allow resort guests to use the pool, and it is controlled. My overall experience was average, and Im trying to make this review independent of my review of Vegas in general. Would I stay again at this hotel? Yes, if I was offered a room at a $90 base rate, instead of $189 base rate. Gift shop ("Essentails") is overpriced. $18 for a tube of toothpaste and bottle of water. One good thing about the resort is the powerful air conditioning system.
