Wow, I was very pleasantly surprised. Im not much into trains but thought itd be a boredom bruster for my kid. It actually was excellent and very interactive. From the very entrance the place captures your attention with its beauty. Then the museum is very large. Lots of items react to your presence. The trains that you walk through are nice, those could have more to them like sounds or something. It was still a museum at that point but then we found the SPY EXIBIT and that blew our minds! VERY CREATIVE! LOVED IT. Everything was interactive. It had SO much. Voice changing devises, LASERS, a mission for the kids, photo disguises, and sooo much more. I could not believe that I had so much fun at a train station with my kid. Really, REALLY neat! Photos really do not do it justice. Highly recommend.

I love this museum! I have been going.here ever since I was a kid, and I loved hearing stories from my Nana about how she used to ride the train from Omaha to San Fransisco. The museum always brings in fresh and interesting new exhibits that never seem to disappoint, and the permanent galleries and displays are always a treat to interact with. If you want a place where you can learn about the history of Nebraska and Omaha, about the history of the railroad, how the west was conquered, walk through authentic train cars that rode the rails during the height of the railroad era, and at the end of your visit grab an icecream sunday, The Durham Museum is the best place to go!

Really enjoyed the place overall. The building is beautiful, the Christmas tree is awesome, and they had singers doing Christmas music...very nice. Going inside the old train cars was very cool, and the exhibits were also very good, but things didnt always seem to flow very well. We often found ourselves wondering what we were looking at now. Exhibits seemed to sort of overlap each other and almost seemed cluttered and busy compared to other museums weve seen. Almost missed the prohibition exhibit because it wasnt marked very well and was through a childrens area to get there. Overall, good visit, friendly staff, and well worth the $11 to get in!

Spent an afternoon here and absolutely fell in love with the space. The exhibits are interesting and focused on Westward expansion. Loved walking through the trains and ringing the way too loud bell downstairs. The real star of the whole thing is the building itself. I had a book with me and I spent an hour sitting in the lobby reading and imagining how busy it must have been back in the 30s when it was used as a major train hub. If I lived in Omaha, I would have a membership here in a heartbeat.

Fantastic example of art deco and well preserved in all three details. Can easily spend several hours here. Upstairs, there are several displays dedicated to the buildings history, a working soda fountain and a gift shop. Downstairs offered a wonderful example of mid century Pullman cars, a streetcar and steam engine and caboose, as well as regional history displays. The temporary exhibit on prohibition was very well executed with numerous inventive displays. Would highly recommend.

Just moved to the area, family that used to live here recommend we all go and check it out. It is a neat little museum about the history of the Omaha/council bluffs area, cool retired trains to go thru a huge win with kids and memories for older members of the family. Will definitely go back, would like to read more in this place. Cool recovered treasure exhibit. Easily made an inexpensive day trip, and new market with in walking distance for entertainment, shopping and dinner

The old train depot was original and so beautiful. Actual train cars inside the museum that patrons can tour and see how they traveled in the various types of cars. What I didnt expect was the walk down memory lane with all of the exhibits throughout the museum dated and grouped by decades. My date and I compared the items we remembered from our childhoods. A very good place for adults and children alike. Self-guided tour. Soda shop too!

This is a great museum to stop by when in Omaha. The pictures online dont do it justice. As soon as you walk in, you are transported to the art-deco age. The architecture is amazing. The museum collection is impressive. One of my favorite parts was being able to navigate through several train cars that are maintained in original condition. The soda fountain on the main floor has a great menu. Recommend the strawberry shake!

A great museum based on the American train history as well as our westward expansion. I like that you get to climb through all the trains and see all of the exhibits up close. My kids love this place. They also have a traveling exhibit that changes every couple of months. Usually these exhibits are pretty good, but I cant say that for all of them. "History of cinematic clothing" Im looking at you

Had a great experience and cant wait to bring the family back. It was a unique opportunity to see the inside of old train cars and would be great for train lovers of all ages and museum and history enthusiasts as well. I had no idea it was an old train station and was happily impressed with the variety from the photography, trains, history and coin collection. There was something for everyone.

Always enjoy the Durham Museum. I grew up in Omaha and they have wonderful displays the remind me of the past . Many of the displays remind me of things I saw and lived through. The 1975 blizzard and tornado. Building of the Gene Leah Mall, Aksarben Racing, and so much more. I did not ride in Conestoga wagons in spite of what many think. That really was a bit before my time.

I was in Omaha over the weekend and looking for things to do. I found this online and was pleasantly surprised. The displays were very informative and the entire Museum was very well done. Once I had finished walking around I went upstairs to their restored soda fountain. I can say Ive never actually had a Cherry Coke phosphate before. Thank you for a great experience!

I was here for wedding reception, and it was one of the best receptions Ive been too. The building itself is classy and elegant, the space was large enough to comfortably accommodate several hundred guests including catering, a bar, and dancing, and there was free access to the train museum exhibits! If youre in Omaha, I strongly recommend coming here.

My family and I enjoy the museum, however beware the FAMILY membership does not allow children admisson if they are attending a field trip. The members "ALWAYS FREE" stated on the website is incorrect. If you click through several pages to "Book" a field trip you will see where it is stated it is not included.
