Surprised to see any negative marks in the Reviews because my boyfriend and I just had the best experience! Id never heard of this place, but happened to drive by while running errands in Eagle. What an incredible find! Im always drawn to restaurants with atmosphere, house-made signature cocktails, & a fresh, local menu. But usually upon finding restaurants that meet that criteria I am left disappointed in one aspect or another. Some favorites that can sometimes disappoint include Grants Neighborhood Grill in Meridian, Barrel 55/Barrelhouse, Alavita, Ruths Chris. Usually my disappointment comes with bland, cooked vegetables, or dishes trying too hard to be eclectic. The best meal I have ever had in Boise came from the now closed, Le Coq Rouge, which provided the most deliciously intricate French food. It has been closed for probably 5 or 6 years now, and therefore I have gone that long without finding a menu that could be executed like theirs was. Oak Barrel of Eagle delivered! I was SO surprised to find that every dish we tried was PHENOMENAL. The best meal Ive had in 6 years, since the closing of Le Coq Rouge! The atmosphere was so perfect, every detail planned out. I was happy to see a Bloody Mary as a signature cocktail, since they are my favorite. Usually I dont finish the Marys I order, but this one was too good to not finish! We ordered the 1/2 order of their Charcuterie. I can never resist ordering a cheese board but am ALWAYS disappointed by size and quality. This half order was bigger than the normal charcuterie that restaurants send out, and it was soo amazing. There wasnt a part of it that we didnt finish, including the salad w/ balsamic dressing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese which was really amazing. Not spicy enough for me (Im not a Mac & Cheese fan to begin with, but I cant resist a spicy, jalapeno Mac & cheese! Ill try to add that next time!), but the flavor wasnt overpowering or too salty. It had just enough to make you appreciate every ingredient. My boyfriend is a Mac & Cheese fiend (he orders it everywhere we go no matter what, yet is discerning about what he receives), and he loved it! He ordered the Turkey Brie Focaccia, and I had the Cuban. I LOVED the Cuban. Pork was not too salty, and the dijon, and dill pickles were incredible. I had the sauteed mushrooms as my side. Usually I am wary of vegetable sides because (besides Le Coq Rouge) they are never prepared to their full potential, always bland & "unfinishable". These were the best mushrooms I have ever had, I could have had them as an entree! I think that is the true test of an amazing chef, the desire, knowledge, and ability to make every nuance and every vegetable come to its full potential. Im excited to see what the obviously talented team at Oak Barrel can come up with in terms of Vegan options, as that is what my boyfriend and I are trying to move to. But I have no doubt that they will be able to bring out the amazing individual flavors that vegetables naturally carry. Im excited to return and try more! And as for the price?? Unbelievable. Cocktail, 2 appetizers, 2 sandwiches & a side of fries all for $60! What an incredible deal, I was so surprised. I would have gladly paid more for such an incredible meal! Our server, Jackie, was so friendly and helpful! The timing on each of our dishes was perfect. We werent crowded with all of our selections at once, but had time to appreciate everything we ordered. In fact, just as my boyfriend mentioned how hungry he was the appetizer was out. Amazing service! Beautiful atmosphere & location. Love that there is a patio & separate lounge. Oak Barrel really has it all. Its the perfect night out without the downtown drive or vibe. Cant wait to come back and try out Wednesday Karaoke & Taco Bar!!!

The salmon was HORRIBLE!! Tammy, our server, looked like she was constantly smelling something bad, because her terrible attitude and scowl made it obvious that she did not want to serve our group. Went to the lounge after dinner for a cocktail (to wash away the taste of the obviously frozen table bread), where it was pointed out to me that the owner was drinking wine at the bar. Classy. Will never return, so disgusted. In response.... 1. Im sure Tammy is a fine server. And hopefully has a good personality. This doesnt fix the fact that she was simply awful during our visit. Also, I did mention that the salmon was not as good as the last time I ate there. But thanks for the apology. 2. When we were sitting in the bar for after dinner cocktails, you were sitting at the bar with wine, arguing loudly with your partner. I asked the bartender to please ask you to keep it down, and the bartender confided that you were the owner, and that drinking a BOTTLE, not a glass was your typical behavior. Also, I noticed that you went behind the bar after you had been drinking, this is not "having a glass of wine after a long day", its being a drunk and conducting business while intoxicated. For your invitation of constructive criticism, how about drink at a different bar? You look unprofessional.

DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER... Great location and clean/modern design. Service was very poor and left much to be desired! Our experience intended to be a birthday celenation. When we arrived, we were greeted by a waitress that seemed annoyed that there was 6 people in our party (3 adults, 3 children). We were told that although it looked like there was plenty of open tables, that we should expect that it might be 10 mins before we could get a table. Once seated, we reviewed the menu for maybe 10 mins. When our waitress returned, 2 of our party had decided on an Elk sirloin dish. The waitress replied that elk was on back order, however we could substitute beef skirt steak instead???? ***The rest of the experience did not get any better....just worse. We were hopeful of a place that looked nice from the outside. Bottom line= Better service at Applebees. -Response to owner- Ive actually had my "profile" for years. This is the first review that I have given on Google as I was that compelled to do so. After reading some of your other responses to guests with similar poor experiences, I totally understand why we didnt enjoy "dining" at your place. Good luck with your arrogance and your restaurant while it lasts.

We went to Oak Barrel of Eagle for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. The restaurant has a very upscale yet comfortable atmosphere that distinguishes it from many of the other places weve been to around town. The menu offered a good variety of options without being overwhelming and dinner prices were reasonable, ranging from about $13-32. The food quality and presentation was top notch - I got the Cuban pulled pork sandwich and it was phenomenal. I also tried the hand-pressed burger that my wife ordered and the flavor was just amazing, hats off to the kitchen staff. The service from the staff was impeccable. Our drinks were always full, the food was brought out in a very reasonable amount of time, and when we were ready for the check it only took a few minutes tops. The owners, Kristina and Mark, stopped by our table a few times throughout the night to check in on us, they were very friendly and it seems like they take a genuine interest in making sure everyone has a good experience. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend Oak Barrel of Eagle, well definitely be back again!
